About Unfuck Your Habitat

UfYH: Terrifying motivation for lazy people with messy homes.

If traditional housekeeping isn’t really your style, but your living space needs a little attention, UfYH’s challenges and customizable features will help you get your place back in shape, a few minutes at a time. Rather than encourage marathon cleaning sessions, UfYH gives you the tools to clean up, a little at a time. Unfucking your habitat turns dreaded chores into easy-to-complete tasks, with a hefty dose of “filthy” language to motivate you to clean up.

-Clean and simple easy-to-use interface.
-Select timed challenges in 5, 10, or 20 minute intervals and try to beat the clock to finish the challenge.
-Select challenges by room.
-Create a customized to-do list and reminders to keep you on schedule.
-Schedule recurring tasks.
-Earn achievements for completing challenges or finishing your to-do list.
-Use the 20/10 timer to reward yourself with a 10-minute break for every 20 minutes of work. Shorter challenges count cumulatively toward your total time.
-Random motivators remind you that excuses are boring and use a combination of a little guilt, a little shame, and a little swearing to get you moving.

UfYH is especially useful for those who don’t have a lot of spare time to devote to cleaning: students, people with full-time jobs, people with roommates, anyone who can’t find the motivation to get up and just do something. Even if it’s just a little something! Our lives are complicated and messy, and we’re often overwhelmed and distracted, and sometimes a little lazy. Unfuck things and see a remarkable difference in how you tackle cleaning.

UfYH uses frequent profanity.

Would be cool if the motivations had sound and actually yelled at you. ;) I am disappointed in the lack of lists in the app. Also, once I've cleared my own task it's just gone. I'd like to be able to see what I've accomplished of my own goals. Lastly, it would be great if I could edit my tasks after they've been added. I often throw all the chores in my head into one task but later need to separate them and there doesn't seem to be any editing option.

I love this app! The only reason why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I like my daily routines, and being able to add recurring routines would be awesome. There are already great lists on the site, but not in the app. For my routines, right now I am using UfYH and the FlyLady app together. Will adding recurring routines be something that y'all add in the future?

This could potentially be a GREAT app and is not all bad. But the experience is just meh. The quick challenges are great. They do help to an extent. But the random motivation is only given if you click on it. It would be 1000x better if you randomly got a notification on your phone like "It's 3pm, get off your lazy ass for 5 minutes and scrub the toilet." Is it worth paying for? Eh. I hope it gets better in the future.

The concept is good and the online support through tumblr & Twitter is nice and encouraging. But the app is buggy. The timer and the alarm are out of sync. When creating a task, it FORCES you to add a description. Clean bathroom means clean bathroom! There's nothing to describe! The timer will act weird. Not really worth $1 at this point but I can see it being so in the future. I also don't like that it messes with your ringtone when you are trying to select a notification sound. This app needs UnF&%^*.

I loved this when it worked. Now it crashes. If I close it, the timer will STILL go off, and there's no way to turn off the timer without opening it and starting the timer again. Update and fix please! And I will change my rating. Until then DON'T BUY. Waste of money.

As stated in other reviews two major flaws are not being able to shut it off until you navigate into the app (why no pop up or something) and also when you change the alarm tone it changes your ring tone also. I will keep the app vs refund because I do like the ufyh methods. Also disappointing that the lists from the website are not automatically on the app . This should be a free app.

I love the app already, but I somehow can't manage to delete tasks from my list. I go to highlight them to delete and they open to edit. I press the garbage can and it goes back to the list view. You aren't giving me false hope, are you?

What a life-saver for us regular humans who aren't very good/suck/are horrible at keeping our homes clean. Much like the Tumblr site, this app shows you any task can be broken down into manageable chunks. I like the by-room challenges, and though I hate it, I use the timer and the room challenges to get dishes done and bed made, because "excuses are boring." Incredibly useful, and a bargain at $1.99.

Y70%
by Y####:

Love that you can make the lists to suit your situation. It really does help to have the alarm go off. Can't wait to get my mess clean so I can start working on the challenges! Makes cleaning a game instead of a chore.

B70%
by B####:

I love the motivation and challenges, but it would be VERY helpful to have editable lists already set up. It takes a lot of time and quickly becomes boring. I think it's safe to say that most of us wanting to use the app have ADD, and we need help getting organized in the first place.

T70%
by T####:

All the sub five stars didn't understand the purpose of this app. If you're already motivated to clean, this isn't the app for you. This is an app for depressed people who are so overwhelmed by everything that they don't know where to begin. This will give you a place to start. It's incredible, but it isn't for you if you're already excited to clean your house. Go use a different app.

This is a great app for getting things done. My only issue is that on the 20/10 timer, after the first 20/10, when you hit the "back to work" button, the 20 minute timer shows up as 0:00, and stays that way. You have to cancel the challenge, and restart the timer to do another 20/10. Does anyone else have this problem?

X70%
by X####:

I love this app. The motivation and timer by themselves make this app worth it. The only thing I actively want updated about this app is the inability to change the timer to vibrate only. It's my only reliable timer of its type, but I can't use it at school due to the sound. Still, I would and do happily recommend this app.

K70%
by K####:

Love this! It really eases some anxiety, especially if you usually have trouble feeling accomplished. I just wish it had a goal page, for things you'd like to strive for but can't be completed as quickly as a normal task.

H70%
by H####:

I like this app!! It goes along great with the website which has great tips for the "motivationally challenged" like myself. Suggestion: a "tips" section for quick access to some of the great tips offered on the website like vinegar cleaning solution, drain volcano, laundry tips etc.

Y70%
by Y####:

I love this app (and the ufyh team), but I keep running into a bug with my "to-unfuck list" where when I leave the app either on purpose or by mistake and the timer goes off, I can't access it again through the unfuck list, but instead the 20/10 timer, and it always starts the break timer, even after I just took a break. Love the app otherwise though!

G70%
by G####:

I like the way it tackles getting things done but changing the alert tone in the app changes your ringer for all notifications on your phone which is infuriating. Change that and this is easy 5 stars

S70%
by S####:

So far, I really like it. But a pause button for the timer would be great. What if I have to pee? Or something more involved than pee? Sometimes that need arises before work time is over, and sometimes we just can't put it off for another 10 or 12 minutes. And really, I don't want to spend my break on the toilet. One other thing: I don't pay for apps. If I can't find something like it, I can do without it. However, a few of my friends said UfYH helped them immensely. So I took the risk. Glad I did!!

Developers,Pls take a look at fairshare app. I decided to buy this app because I like the blog, and although I like the home screen set up, the idea of random challenges and the motivational words, I hate the way my tasks are set up! I'm fairly certain the order selection at the bottom doesn't work the way it was intended. The notifications don't make noise even though I set it to make noise, and I can't figure out if there's a way to get it to pop up on my screen instead of hiding in my notifications bar.

I love how this app gamifies cleaning the house so I can feel like an action adventurer conquering a quest instead of like an overwhelmed working mom :-)

I got a new phone (Galaxy Note 4) and updated all my Android apps. I never had any issues using UFYH on my Nexus 4 or iPad, but on this phone it's nothing but trouble. When the alarm goes off it takes 6 or seven screens to turn it off; I even unlocked my screen so it would be easier to get to, but that didn't help much. There aren't any settings in the app, as far as I can tell, so I can't adjust things the way I'd like to.

S70%
by S####:

I'd love it if there was a button for a random task from my list. Also, a way to untick irrelevant tasks from the random button that does exist. If i click through too many car or pet tasks i may well end up clicking through stuff i should do rather than getting on with what im told to do! Great concept.

Short stints, plenty of breaks. Add a rewards system on the fridge and you have your own game! Needs a points system :D

The only thing I wish for is a 'couples' version. One account, sync it between devices, with the same task list for my husband and I, so it would show when either of us had done something. Could also have a competition mode to see who did the most. Anything to get him to do some housework without being nagged.

Love it but I wish there was a way to set tasks weekly, daily like have an alarm to remind me Wednesday is clean sheet day or a way to set it to times per week like set the bathroom to clean 3x a week. Other than that love it and love the motivation helps a lot i would love to see an update allowing me to do this I would pay good money for it as a lazy and forgetful person this would save my life

I kept it bc it has some really great features, like random task selection/suggestions. The 1 thing holding it back is without the ability to see completed tasks as done in some way, I feel like I have not achieved anything & I can't tell what I have completed from what I haven't or what I need to do that day--the longer the list, the more problematic that is. A strike through, red check mark, or best IMO just have them colour blocked a nice colour & go below uncompleted tasks. This makes the list unusable.

As a lazy person, anything that can help lend a little motivation is great. I've only been using this app for a day, but so far I love it. The only thing I wish for is a page that shows me what I've already accomplished. As a traditional "to-do list" writer..everyone gets a little satisfaction from being able to cross something off the list. Overall great app, though

I do like the app, but I have one request. If I'm working to unf*ck a specific room, I'd like the room challenge to remember which room I'm doing. It's annoying to have it reset to the laundry room each time.

I love this app! It's great for keeping me on track when I'm feeling weak but need to keep things tidy. I did notice, however, that after the first cycle of the 20/10 timer, the time just displays as 0:00. The timer still works fine, but it's just an odd thing I noticed. Great app otherwise!

I really do like the set up of this app. I love the concept, and the blog is AWESOME. that being said, I do wish I could sync it to my tablet, or with my roommate so we could be on the same page. but no worries, I can just re type it on theirs. Does anyone know how to change the timer though? I change it, but when it goes off, it's still just beeps. Any ideas?

There should be a prompt to take before and after photos and share them with the other users. Also, the ability to make and share your custom cleaning routines and lists of chores would be nice.

S70%

That's it, really. Best purchase ever. Simple, easy to use, excellent at keeping you on task. I'm a chronically messy person often struggling with depression, but this helps me work a little bit at a time through it.

I would use this app so much more if there wasn't the problem with the notification sound. It will only let me use the same sound as my ringtone. If I try to change the notification sound, it changes the ringtone on my phone. This has been a problem since I first downloaded it and the fact that it still hasn't been fixed is pretty disappointing.
