ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT

This app has been designed for people with mild-moderate vision impairment, key features being alternative colour schemes, a high level of zoom, and a large font option.

Considerations have also been made for motor impairments, with large well spaced controls, and zoom buttons instead of complex multiple finger gestures.

The interface is simple, settings have visual previews, copy is clearly styled and as jargon-free as possible, and the choice of interface colours can be beneficial for irlen-related dyslexia.

Sound is not used to communicate any information, meaning no barriers are present for people with impaired hearing.

The app was designed for TFL’s ‘accessible transport app’ contest, and has been designed in accordance with the accessibility guidelines of the contest, produced by OneVoice ICT.

-- Accessibility testing --

Testing has been carried out with people with a range of vision impairments,as well as moderate to profound motor impairments. Testing has been carried out both by ourselves and through the Digital Accessibility Centre.

-- Known accessibility issues --

This app is not currently screenreader accessible. This is due to the code framework it is built upon (Corona) not supporting screenreader accessibility. Although the app is specifically for people with a moderate degree of vision, we are aware that some people with enough vision to find the app useful still do use screenreaders, so would like to support them. We are currently in discussions with Corona so if you would like to see this happen please contact us, and we can add your voice to the request.

We are also working on extra features that have arisen through our testing, such as a pinch/zoom option for people with greater motor ability, and an arrow buttons option for people with reduced motor ability.

It's very hard to explain what being "colour blind" is like to people who are not. But the tube map makes it real easy. When I look at it - I think "why on earth did they decide to make some of the lines the same colour?". It's not a minor curiosity, it makes it almost useless to me. But this app fixes it, utterly and completely. Thanks and bravo! By the way for every 20 white males you know. One of them has the same type of color vision deficiency as me - called deuteranomaly. So this is actually a nuisance at a societal level. Unless you hold certain political views that is :-)

Great app, suggested improvement - some things are blocked by the large Zoom Out and In buttons, would be better if these weren't there, or could be turned off. Can't see the key in the bottom right..

I am red/green colourblind and find that I am often unsure of which line I am looking at when viewing the normal tube map. This app solves that problem. I would like pinch to zoom functionallity rather than plus/minus but that is a minor point.
