Chicago Works 311 for Android
7/17 update You might get more people to use this app on their MOBILE phones if it didn't require you to enter 10 pieces of info that each take at least 3 taps. If you're running, biking or driving you don't have time to use this app. I'd forgotten why I'd removed it from my phone. Just streamline it. You have my location. Just let me click graffiti, add a photo, and be done with it. It doesn't do any good to ask what surface graffiti is on and its height of no one bothers to report it because the process is so cumbersome. Update. Still inadequate. Takes too long to enter info. Needs more categories or at least "other"when submitting requests. Downloaded last week & tried to report water gushing out of a sidewalk in one neighborhood and water trailing from a park water fountain over the sidewalk to the sewers but no category to report these problems. With as much flooding and breaks in Victorian-era water mains as Chicago has a category for water problems is a must.
It no longer submits properly. Ad interferes and there is no confirmation that it works or not, and sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it works but with no confirmation and then if you go to another app and back to this app it how's your unsubmitted report to submit again... So you can resubmit the same thing 10 times not knowing what's happening.
Well 6 weeks and still no response on my reports, What do except from an application owned by an alderman from Chicago No work
App constantly crashes. Cannot load photo or finish repirt
The app will let you enter service request complaints and submit pictures , but don't loose the CSR number. You won't be able to look up info. Even if you call 311 unless you added your name to request. You can't look up the CSR number on the app either
Use it as a tool with my job
Poor usability as well.
For months the app (when it works) has been showing the wrong ward for my location. (Using old ward map??). Today, to resolve that, I deleted and reinstalled the app. Now it says that I am outside the city. I am at least 3 miles inside city border. These errors don't make me confident that reports are being directed to right department. Also, immediately after I entered a report via this app,the report tracker said that my report was entered 59 minutes ago, Now it says entered 45 minutes ago. Glitchy.
Quite simple way to submit 311 reports. I did use it for graffiti report and the graffiti was removed quickly. Also very responsive customer service. I had a problem with removing the ads on my phone and it was quickly taken care of.
Can not put in a report. It keeps telling me that Chicago Works is close. My location keeps saying i am outside of the city. I even tried to go with there support group. There no help.
Entire program crashes everytime I try to submit any kind of report. Useless.
For latest up date you must uninstall then install for update to take.
Update on 8/13/16: App crashes upon opening. Is it possible to give 0 star? Old review: Stuck at the screen 'Fetching information' when trying to submit a report. Also need the option to manually choose your ward. Auto selection is not accurate.
Crap

It opens fine, but select any option and it crashes. Used to be a pretty good app.
Need to add all types of city requests, except for 911 type complaints.
Doesn't work which is what I expected from the City of Chicago.
The app is as useless as the 311 operators; slow, and lazy.
The app works like the city poorly
App will not let me submit a service request, only to track one. Icon is called Service Request and not Service Tracker. Reports can be submitted, but not service requests.
Stuck at the screen 'Fetching information' when trying to submit a report. Also need the option to manually choose your ward. Auto selection is not accurate.
This is a bare-bones app with a limited list of 311 services included. This means you will often have to use other means to make your report. For example, Alley Potholes is not included. I did not do an exhaustive survey of what report types are available, of course. Certainly not worth paying for, and it doesn't increase my esteem for Alderman Pewar who has associated his name and office with it. The app displays the wrong ward, it apparently queries an old version of the ward map db. Not worth the trouble, nor worth paying for in this state. I will continue to enter reports into the 311 website on my computer.
Updating my review; I came here to check if there was an update. Now I see that it won't even install on my Galaxy S3 phone. Not good. Here's my original review, which still holds; There are not enough categories, there are very common problems that simply don't fit into the selected groups. for example plugged sewer, plastic safety cap removed from bottom of light pole, sewer grate missing.. needs a lot of work, seems like development has stopped. ..
The app does not update properly. Reports shown as "Open" are actually closed. App reports wrong ward for a section of ward 33 that used to be 39. This shows they are using the wrong database. Whether it's the devs fault or the city of Chicago, I don't know. But it's up to the dev to make sure it works, or notify users. This is not a free app if you don't want to see ads, and looking at ads is in a way, paying a price. The app shows different photos from the one I actually uploaded when I revisit my report. Three different photos have been displayed on one report I made. The status of the report is not kept up to date. The app shows the report as open, though it is closed.
Latest update fixed the bugs, works much better now. Thank you!
This app doesn't. Crashes at start up.
New version has ads, but also quite unhelpfully crashes as soon as I try to write a report. This is on a stock nexus 5. Still crashing after 9/10 update
Crashes when I select anything but citizen information. Using a Samsung G4 with Android 5.0.1
Whenever I click for a request on the main menu
I can't even get passed the screen to enter and save email.
Submitted two reports and issues were resolved by the city in about 2 weeks. App needs to be updated. Crashes a lot
Sometimes it works, most of the time it doesn't. Either way its still better than calling 311.
Quick way to submit problem reports and service requests. Faster and smoother than via the website
The app is probably as useless as the 311 operators.
Use it as a tool with my job
Don't like that you can't upload pictures that you have already taken, that is stored in your phone. Otherwise it works.

It will not let me create a report, just hang. Location says null. Worst app I ever installed on my phone.
