About The Federalist Papers

The Federalist Papers is a collection of 85 articles and essays written (under the pseudonym Publius) by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay promoting the ratification of the United States Constitution. Seventy-seven were published serially in The Independent Journal and The New York Packet between October 1787 and August 1788. A compilation of these and eight others, called The Federalist: A Collection of Essays, Written in Favour of the New Constitution, as Agreed upon by the Federal Convention, September 17, 1787, was published in two volumes in 1788 by J. and A. McLean. The collection's original title was The Federalist; the title The Federalist Papers did not emerge until the 20th century.

Though the authors of The Federalist Papers foremost wished to influence the vote in favor of ratifying the Constitution, in Federalist No. 1 they explicitly set that debate in broader political terms:

It has been frequently remarked, that it seems to have been reserved to the people of this country, by their conduct and example, to decide the important question, whether societies of men are really capable or not, of establishing good government from reflection and choice, or whether they are forever destined to depend, for their political constitutions, on accident and force.

If you love your Liberty, Free Enterprise and our Constitutional Republic and wish to preserve these Liberties for future Generations, then please do read and share the Federalist Papers. It's amazing how from even the very first article, we can be shown how we are currently facing the same turbulence and situations the Founders and Free Citizens of our Great Nation faced then, and why it is absolutely necessary that we not allow this important part of our history to be extinguished by those who hate Liberty, and who would foster tyranny in its place! Later articles about the purpose of the People's Right to Keep and Bear Arms and in particular of a Militia, populated by adult citizens of all ages, being essential to the preservation of Individual Liberty and of our Nation itself, with in-depth, well reasoned discussions about the separation of powers and the necessity of term limits, (to keep the ugly head of tyranny from rising from within our nation); show why these papers should be presented and taught in every school and college in the land. We need to turn back the tide of socialism, communism and tyranny and the extensive bureaucratic largess of "BigGOV" in this nation! If the schools won't do it, then we need to educate the younger generations...at least at home, and hand down the Gifts of Liberty from parent to child and grandparent to grandchild. Thus Liberty will Prevail and Government of, by and for the People shall not perish from this Earth.
