About SolentMet

SolentMet provides easy access to the data from four weather stations in the Solent area (the sea between the Isle of Wight and the UK mainland).

The data display corresponds to that shown on the ‘Chimet’ website and normally updates every five minutes.

A map displays the current wind direction and strength at the four stations and each can be selected to show all the latest data available from that station.

Further details in the form of 12-hour graphs of wind strength and direction, tide, temperatures and pressure, visibility, and wave height can be displayed (where available).

Used to be good but now keeps crashing so I can't use it... Uninstall for now will try again another day after the next update

Perhaps a change from blue on blue text might improve readability but it does what it says. Would be nice if it continued to work!!

Great for checking current and recent past wind and tide conditions in Solent and Chichester Harbour.

OK, but is very unintuitive to use. There is no indication that you need to tap the pop-up after you tap a station to view more info, and not obvious that you need to tap Wind, etc, on the station details screen to view the graphs. If the developer insists on using this web-like paradigm to navigate between screens, they should highlight the links in an suitable manner.

works ok for me - would be much more useful imo if the wind graphs on the chimet/bramblenet web sites were included.......oh, I just found them - maybe access to them they should be made more prominent - you need to tap the wind symbol on the map. then tap the info pop up, then tap the word WIND. Bigger graphs would be good, as would an option to open the app straight into a graph rather than going around the houses to get there.

It was not obvious to me that you had to tap the wind direction icons to get more info. Same for the next sceen you get. Tidal info too limited, I'd like to see at least 24hr. Otherwise not bad, needs honing.

It's been a long time coming to android but finally it's here. Good start. Would be nice to have tidal information too like the Bramblemet website but great nonetheless.
