Origami (折 り 紙, from ori meaning "folding", and we mean "paper" (we turn into gami because of my rendezes)) is the art of paper folding, which is often associated with Japanese culture. In modern usage, the word "origami" is used as an inclusive term for all fold practices, regardless of their cultural origin. The goal is to convert flat sheets of paper into sculptures so through folding and sculpting techniques. Modern origami practitioners generally prevent the use of pieces, glue, or marks on paper. Origami folders often use the Japanese word kirigami to refer to designs that use pieces, although the cutting is more typical of Chinese papercrafts.
