Triggertrap for Android
I'm a happy user! Issue listing below no longer applies. -- -- Dongle plug tricky to use on my Nexus 7, fine on DROID X2. After inserting plug into Nexus 7 earphone jack I back it out just a bit. Camera and Nexus then communicate well. I hope developer catches Android features up to the excellent tricks available in iOS. I gave iOS app 5 stars.
Used TT when it was an Arduino board, decided to upgrade and bought the connector through Amazon. First used it through my Galaxy S5 with disastrous results. No mode would work correctly no matter what settings the TT and/or camera were set at. Oddly it works pretty well on my Galaxy Tab with Cyanogenmod (sound trigger is a bit buggy). In hindsight, I should have just bought another remote timer for camera number two.
It seems like TriggerTrap can't count to 3. The time lapse function works fine with intervals of 1 or 2 seconds, but as soon as you increase it to 3 seconds or more, it starts to skip a shot every now and then. Sometimes it skips every second shot! This has messed up SO MANY time lapses for me. I just returned from a time lapse shoot, driving many kilometers to get there, just to have my time lapse ruined by an app that doesn't work. Time and money wasted! Not to mention the cost of a TriggerTrap cable...
I have the E3 cable but upgraded cameras and it says I need an N3 cable. I'm guessing that I need a new cable. Unfortunately, the cables are overpriced for what they are so I won't be using this anymore. Very good progress, though.
I used it on my Sony Z3 to connect my Canon 5D Mark II and it worked flawlessly. But dosent work with my new Xiaomi Mi Max. I increased the volume in all and had app permission changed to "enable". It only clicks when I play a sound from my phone. Does not click through the app.
I have the official dongle which all modes works fine with the iPhone 3GS (iOS 6.1.6). BUT, for my Samsung S7 (OS 6.0.1) its missing the Vibration sensor and Motion sensor. And the long exposure ones don't work, yes I set the camera to Bulb, it just keeps taking multiple photos. I can get the 3GS to be master and use those missing sensor options but the long exposure ones needs the phone and dongle directly. A shame they seem to be going out of business so no support available. I can't recommend it for the Android, but is fine for iOS.
Why are the intro/splash screens the main focus. I didn't need to read them the first time either, please make them disappear. The functions which only appear when tapping top left should be your main screen, not some dumbed down messages that no one reads. When I hit the back button on Android it closes the app??? Why? Silly nuances that I'm sure will continue to annoy but otherwise the cable and app do what I need inexpensively. Could be 5 stars if not for the weird app layout.
Perfect with 400D, 60D and 70D! Maybe slightly behind the iOS version due to differences between iOS and Android not the devs and even so it's no big deal!
Android users are being left behind cause this app, though has great potential is targetted mainly for iphone users. No motion detection for android etc....
Perfectly good app and product but wouldn't recommend to a friend. Amazing that they still haven't developed for Android Wear... Actually, they should be embarrassed that they haven't developed for Android Wear.
Very glad to see this company forced out of business after they ripped off so many people with their last Kickstarter.
DISCONTINUED! Already feature-poor compared to the iOS version, as of sometime around August 2016, Triggertrap has discontinued development of the Mobile app for Android. They don't seem to be interested in telling this to anyone unless you specifically ask them, which is deplorable, in my opinion.
Something like this was need to assist photographers and I'm grateful, however some of the key capabilities was missing for Android, very disappointing.......
Excellent app, except it is completely useless at night if there is no dark or night mode, since night vision is ruined the second you open the app and have to deal with a white theme.
Triggertrap has confirmed that the development of the app has been abandoned. They have been fooling the customers for years
I can't understand why is app won't work on a Canon EOS 1200d and I have a question why would you have to use Wi-Fi to use the app when you can't get Wi-Fi in most places because of photographer might be out of range of a Wi-Fi what wanting to use This app
Fantastic app. Would love to see a calculator in the time-lapse function. Would love to set a timer so I'll get a time-lapse video of eg 10 seconds.
The iOS app is vastly superior because it supports more features than the android app. Depending on how you use it, you may not care but it seems that the functions that depend on the mobile os to properly support real time audio aren't implemented on the android app. Which sorta makes sense because android for years has had problems with real time audio. Its well documented and Google can't or won't fix it. Too bad. Also no motion detection on the Android app vs the iOS app which does support it.
Excellent app, except it is completely useless at night if there is no dark or night mode, since night vision is ruined the second you open the app and have to deal with a white theme.
USE THIS EQUIPMENT AT THE RISK OF YOUR EQUIPMENT! I received my triggertrap dongle with great excitement from all the YouTube reviews I had seen. To say I was disappointed upon its arrival is an understatement. Firstly the cable and dongle function perfectly on my samsung s4 mini. Which was nice. But when using the timewarp function the shutter speed is always 1/15 regardless of how I setup my camera. I've followed the instructions on several YouTube videos and the problem still persists. I decided I would try the cable and app on my 10.1" Galaxy Tab 4. The app runs fine, but when connecting the cable the app force closes and the "Headphones attached" notification disappears. The tablet won't recognise the cable/dongle after that until I restart it, but then the same problem persists. It did connect once, and when prompted to turn up my volume I did so, which again caused the app to force close and my cameras shutter actuated up and never closed, damaging my camera. I followed every instruction to the letter. I know how to run and setup a DSLR camera with my eyes closed. I can't find any explanation as to why this would happen despite dredging through your website.
I have a power shot s3 is camera. The wire options listed in the app don't have an option for my camera. Is there something that's there that is compatible?
Great value overall! When in a specific trigger mode pressing the back button exits the app. It should return to the main screen - Android standard. Also entering specific times is very clumsy. One always has to backspace for every digit already entered and then enter value for all placeholders rather than just simply changing the time with a spinner for minutes or seconds etcetera. Standard Android design. A black background for night is better. On eos 70D, bulb mode not required!
Poor design, shame as hardware is great
The latest update for this wants my telephone data who i call etc. ... why? I hardly ever use it anyway so i will NOT allow it those permissions as there i no need for it. I will delete it and throw the cable away if it persists....
I used to really like this app having used it for several years BUT the ios version STILL does a lot more despite the makers repeatedly telling us the Android version is catching up!
Easy to use app and even easier to use product with it. It simply plugs in and you can control your camera from your phone. Although your volume needs to be in max for some reason probably the sound activate mode but I still love it.
I have the E3 cable but upgraded cameras and it says I need an N3 cable. I'm guessing that I need a new cable. Unfortunately, the cables are overpriced for what they are so I won't be using this anymore. Very good progress, though.
I'd love to give 5 stars, but not until us Android users receive the update iOS Users just got :-(
There's more functionality with Apple products than with Android for some reason. Also, would gain a star or two just by having more options for calculation with intervalometer functions. Really shouldn't be too hard to do.
Never would have bought this if I had known there is no auto focus option. I understand why manual focus is preferred most of the time, but not including auto focus because you don't believe it's needed is ridiculous. Give the user the choice. As a follow up to the reply below, I have a cabled Polaroid remote for my Nikon which controls the auto focus and will not initiate the shutter until the focus is confirmed. I had hoped to use some of the features on this app that my cable release doesn't support.
I like triggetrap and it is amazing what it can do, but it has its limitations (a lot more than I though). Camera has always to be on manual focus (which is not that bad, you can learn to manual focus better), otherwise my cam cannot take a shot. I did not explore everything whit it yet but i think that you made a good app and dongle, and you have a good support!
I just updated less then a minute ago, and it already crashed. I but this device for its intervelometer function and I have not been able to make it work.
Stop crying that the android version is so much "worse" than iOS. Then go out and buy a stupid iPhone... Best app I've ever used, worked perfectly from the get-go. Keep it up TriggerTrap!
Would be great if it had some video control options and camera control buttons...
The program is working great so far. Need to do some real world testing but so far do good. Had some issues when I got it, but an email to their support department solved them all.
I tried everything to make it work with my Rebel T3i. Nothing.... Customer service sends the same repetitive emails, asking the same questions over and over. Wasted money. ..
Couldnt wait to get started with my timelapses. Its a straight forward app and simple. Love it.
Within 40 minutes trying to figure it out its crashed nearly 10 times. A number of feature are not working, sound sensor, hdr, press and hold. Hoping triggertrap can correct these issues as I was very excited to receive. If not I'll have to return the gift and the full kit also received.
I think this would be a very useful app if I had an iphone.

Only found about after reading they were going out of business. Bought it from Amazon including the appropriate cable. Having fun learning what it can do. Auto focus works, i left it on in error. Love the GPS function works in conjunction with the phones GPS and takes photos every so many metres/km or miles
