Prospect Magazine for Android
Still not quite right. Providing you have digital subscription then once you have downloaded the app you must first tell the app that you have purchased the mag directly from publishers. you do this by selecting options (multi bar in top left corner) and then select "subscribed from publisher". Why can't this be automated??.
The print mag is great and now the new lightweight mobile version works a treat too. Thank you Prospect!
That about says it !!
Love the magazine and a great way to get all the content
Unusable
This is a terrible app, it will only display images of the print magazine pages and not easily navigable individual articles as you would expect from a proper news/periodical app.
Latest: It tries to charge me for Jan 2015 issue even although I've got a subscription. As usual, no response from support. Going to demand refund of sub from publisher. Latest update fixes the blurry text problem. You need to archive then download existing editions to get it to work, and you have to figure out the complicated scrolling method on Opinions pages. ___ Previously: Don't see any improvements in latest version, and you have to download magazine editions again to get them to work with this version - eg, Home button takes you to previous page instead of contents page. Still blurred text on opinions page, letters, etc. And no bookmarks for tablet version. And no response from support when contacted about this. Also, Prospect Magazine will have nothing to do with any requests for support.
Very poor app. Difficult to read tablet version. Needs a variety of font options and smarter presentation format. Learn from the Economist!
The print mag is great but the app and website are TERRIBLE!
Simply shows the full page from the print edition and there is no zoom, so it's not practical on a 7" tablet. The Economist or The Times both show how this can be done properly.
A big improvement, and now quite usable, but still inflexible on word-wrap
The "optimised tablet edition" displays a heading and sidebar that take up most of the screen, relegating the article itself (the actual point of a magazine) to a small scrolling box in the corner. In addition, the font rendering is terrible: it looks like the text is rendered at low resolution and scaled up, so it's unpleasant to read. Really, how hard is it to just display some text on the screen?
I'm a techie but this app has me flummoxed. Having downloaded the pocket mag app it simply offers me the option of buying the issue or subscribing. Nowhere does it allow me to sync with my Prospect subscription so I can get the application subscription for free. Very annoying indeed. UPDATE: In settings, go to 'Subscribed Elsewhere' and it's here you enter your print edition details in order to get the app and subscription for free.
I am a print subscriber to Prospect and want the app. Very complex. First sign up to pocketmags. Then activate. Then select Prospect and enter sub ID and password (long forgotten web ID). Then download app. Then reenter details in login area. Then ... nothing! Settings shows my email address correctly registered, but no way to download the mag. Just a screen offering me a trial sub. I also have the Economist app and it was so easy. Prospect please note: better to have no app than this.
Hard to activate, pointless interface with third party site, and even after all that still not easy to figure out how you view the magazine. Prospect should be utterly ashamed of themselves for this stone age app.
It should be a fairly simple process to activate my online subscription, given that I already pay for the print version. Unfortunately the process is needlessly complicated and requires you to sign up to a third party website, which won't accept my details so prevents me from accessing the contents from this app that I've already bought. Until things are more streamlined I'd advise other users to avoid, as I've already given up in frustration and will have to stick to the hard copy.
Prospect should be embarrassed by this app. It appears to just give the same magazine as the hard copy so no reason to bother there . However the app is only about getting your money and I abandoned attempting to get it to sync to my account. waste of time.
Not that bad, once synced with my subscription it works fine, even if it is only displaying a pdf
Only seems to be useable if you purchase subscription or issues directly through the app
Be warned. To use this app with your subscription you have to sign up to some crap called Pocketmags then sync with your Prospect subscription. This process does not work properly, so you have no choice but to call the 0844 subscription help line. Which is shut at the weekend. Great. Never before has an app actually made me angry, but this Kafkaesque rubbish has done it.
Prospect is great but this app only makes sense if you have fully paid subsc. It would be nice to UBS some free content like with other mags...
As a subscriber to the print version this does offer me the magazine on my phone, which is handy for journeys where I don't have the paper copy. It would be better if the content was reformatted for the app however, with text flowing rather than having to scroll around a complete replica of the physical magazine. Could be much better, but better than nothing.

Regularly stops working. The sidebar to say you've bought it direct from the publisher doesn't work. Huge effort to contact them and get it working - then it stops again. A great magazine but it is pain not being able to read it on a tablet or phone when on the move. So much so if it breaks down again I'm reviewing the subscription to the magazine itself.
