Learning to paint is fun with Leisure Painter, the UK’s best-selling learn-to-paint magazine! Follow the step-by-step demonstrations in every issue and create drawings and paintings to be proud of.
Since 1967 Leisure Painter has taught beginners and amateur painters to draw and paint successfully. Well-known artist/tutors offer a wealth of inspiring subjects and projects to complete, covering all subjects from how to paint watercolour landscapes, your dog or cat, to portraits, wildlife, and all imaginable subjects. You are encouraged to work from your own favourite photographs, and we also provide tutor-picked photos for you to paint from, with advice and examples to compare your work against. Every issue of Leisure Painter is packed with hints, tips and practical advice to help bring your drawings and paintings to life. We answer all your painting questions, provide regular special offers on art materials and books, and include all the latest information about art clubs, workshops and holidays, and art events to enjoy in every issue. Plus, paint along with your favourite art tutors in special Leisure Painter workshops, courses and holidays in the UK and overseas.
This is a free app download. Within the app users can purchase the current issue and back issues.
Subscriptions are also available within the application. A subscription will start from the latest issue.
Available subscriptions are:
1 month (1 issue)
12 months (13 issues)
-The subscription will renew automatically unless cancelled more than 24 hours before the end of the current period. You will be charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of the current period, for the same duration and at the current subscription rate for the product.
-You may turn off the auto-renewal of subscriptions through Google Play Account settings, however you are not able to cancel the current subscription during its active period.
Users can register for/ login to a pocketmags account in-app. This will protect their issues in the case of a lost device and allow browsing of purchases on multiple platforms. Existing pocketmags users can retrieve their purchases by logging into their account.
We recommend loading the app for the first time in a wi-fi area.

Got first three issues of my year's subscription. When the next was due, it kept insisting I must pay for it. Spent hours working between the app and pocketmags. Gave up eventually. Shame.

Generally it works well though I had to reload issues. It would be nice to have it downloaded to my device than rely on an internet connection. If it has this feature i am unaware of it. This is because the documentation is sparse.

I read the printed copy of Leisure Painter magazine for a few years so decided to try this electronic version. Not knowing what to expect I downloaded the Jan 2012 issue for free. It is a replication of the print version which I really like as it means I can carry a years supply in my bag and dive into different issues to refresh my self on techniques. I've just started reading The Artist magazine as I am progressing my painting level but will continue to refer to my issues (digital!). Great useful app.

You have to pay for the Free trial. What part of free don't they understand.
