Hosts Editor is a way to add, remove or comment out entries in the hosts file and now backup and restore hosts files. The hosts file allows the user to override an IP address of a specific url. It is convenient when wanting to access computers or servers on a network where the internal NAT may not be working.
Because it does edit the hosts file root permission is required.
The Gold (paid) version has the same feature set as the free version. This is a way to donate back.
The backup files are stored in XMl format defined as follows:

This PRO version crashes when trying to backup the hosts file in Galaxy Note N7000. I should have stayed with the free version. Wasted my money.

The app was not working for a while on my Gal S4, because with new system updates I lost rooting. If your app does not work, make sure you still have a superuser right

I'm seeming to have a problem getting the pro version to do...well, and anything. Crashes about 50% of the time while loading the hosts file. Search doesn't seem to work, or not well at least. I I am now having a problem with the menu button bringing up the menu. Not sure if problems are due to size of my hosts file(close to 6 mb).

I don't know about the issues a few other reviewers have posted, but for me (SGS2, 4.0.4), this app works just fine and does everything I need.

This app doesn't work and crashes when it tries to load my hosts file. I bought this app because I was impressed with the simplicity and effectiveness of the free version and I find that as soon as I've bought it, it doesn't work anymore. Is this why you don't allow refunds? Why charge people money for an app that doesnt work? Please fix this A.S.A.P. Thanks.

Will not operate in root mode. This problem has been going on way too long. If the developer considers himself a professional, it would have been fixed by now. Galaxy Nexus, all JB ROMs.

I buy this application because you removed ads in the free version, feel I need to support you, good guy. However, I should probably point out this crashes on my galaxy nexus on start up. I use Modaco rom.

Can be slow when opening and refreshing if you have used adfree on your device. Could benefit from an option to not scan for/include them.

I bought the paid version far too hastily - it looked good but it just doesn't work. It wiped my host file on install, adding entries doesn't work (they vanish immediately after you click save with no explanation), toggle apparently means delete, and editing doesn't change anything. On the plus side, there are no ads and it's helped me appreciate vi more.

Its a very stripped down design from 2004. I wish it synced my hosts with gdrive... so that perhaps I could block every computer I use.
