Se trata de una preciosa senda de escasa dificultad que atraviesa a través de una vía pecuaria bonitos bosques de encina y enebro acompañados de un diverso sotobosque de retama de bolas y retama negra, cantueso y esparragueras entre otras especies vegetales; en zonas más húmedas, fresnos, madreselvas y endrinos y praderas adehesadas dan otro toque de verdor y frescor al camino.

Son innumerables los rastros que nos deja la fauna asociada al pie de la sierra, cagarruteros y conejeras nos revelan la presencia de este mamífero, alimento imprescindible para poder seguir observando en nuestros cielos la emblemática águila imperial. De nuevo en tierra otro gran mamífero hace de las suyas en las praderas, horadando el suelo en busca de bellotas, raíces y ratoncillos, el omnipresente jabalí…

Y qué decir del entorno, paisajes de ensueño nos rodean, un anfiteatro de montañas envuelve nuestro recorrido, destacando nuestras Machotas, San Benito, Abantos, La Peñota, El Montón de Trigo...

¡menudo privilegio de ruta! Desviándonos tan solo unos metros podremos disfrutar de Valmayor, nuestro embalse, el espejo sobre el que se refleja la Sierra Oeste, y que recibe el nombre del antiguo poblado que se asentaba en estas tierras y de la que da testimonio nuestra Ermita, colofón de esta interesantísima senda que, aúna en su recorrido, flora, fauna, paisaje e historia y que a través de los distintos puntos de interés de la ruta, ofrecemos al visitante la oportunidad de descubrir, aprender, disfrutar, valorar y conocer el patrimonio natural e histórico de Valdemorillo.
