Translanguage OCR is an open source Android application that translates text images into other languages.

Easy to learn Chinese by using the Pinyin feature. Simply take a picture of Chinese characters, wait for the recognition and the pinyin will be displayed along with the translation.

Translanguage OCR gives you a powerful word and phrase translator in the palm of your hand. Traveling to a country and can't read or spell the language? Simply take a picture and wait for the translated results. Studying a new language? Translation is just a click away!
How do I use it?
Using the touch screen, adjust the rectangular box to fit the text that you need for translation. Change the languages parameters and snap the picture using the camera button. If it is too dark, use the flash button to turn on your phone's flash and use it as a flashlight.
Language packs are downloaded on a need basis and only once. Chinese, Japanese and Korean are big language packs and is recommended that Wifi is used to download these language packs.
If the app does not work, please fill the bug report and I will do my best to fix things right away. Do not just rate the app 1 star and say it doesn't work. It is hard to test this app on all devices as a single developer.

Nice concept but terrible results. OCR detects almost no words. Also interface needs work, does not even remember previous language settings. Tested on galaxy s2 and dutch to English.

For a free app, this is really great, and come with multiple languages. Focus may be slow but works eventually. Camera button has no response when pressed (sound or vibrate). Text size can be bigger

Slow hardly recognised words and when it did translated them incorrectly Wouldn't recommend it

Japanese recognition was better than the last app I tried. But you can't bypass the translation and output it in the original language (the "before" text line is too small to read), and you can't save the text or send it anywhere.
