Xcerpt for Twitter for Android
Xcerpt is a forever free, open source app that lets you create a beautiful image of a web page passage. No longer will your followers scroll past the web articles you share!
To share an article, open Xcerpt and select a short passage to display (via copy and paste, choosing a screenshot, or sharing to Xcerpt). You can then:
• Highlight the most important part of the passage
• Change the background colour
• Select the source, which should be automatically detected
Save yourself the hassle of highlighting in your browser, using outside apps to crop, and going back to your browser to get the source URL. Xcerpt does it all!
Once you're done, tweet a comment with the image that Xcerpt makes for you. Visit our Twitter @XcerptApp to see some examples of how people are using and loving Xcerpt.
Xcerpt is a minimal app made to do one job, and do it well. Xcerpt uses Material Design so that sharing an article on Twitter is as easy as possible.
Let the article's contents do the talking, not the title. Never again will your audience be annoyed by clickbait titles! Use Xcerpt today.
Xcerpt has been featured on Wired, CNET, Android Authority, Tested, Android Police, and All About Android.
Has improved leaps and bounds since launch.
They're distorted, so this app is quite useless to me unless when I communicate in English.
This is my favorite way to share interesting bits of articles on Twitter. I highly recommend it
No longer crashes but still disappointing. It doesn't take an actual screenshot of the web page. It just takes the selected text and throws away the original formatting (eg italics.) Even if you start with a screenshot it OCRs the text out and throws away the formatting.
I would give it 5 star if I could make bold, italic or underline to some important words. Thnz developers.
Great way to share long text to Twitter. Could use a few improvements with the rendering of more complex screens. I would love to have the original screenshot visible with highlights overlayed.
Loved the app.. Please add support to move xcerpt app into adopted external storage (which behaves as internal storage) on Android marshmallow 6.0.1 devices. Thanks!
Please provide a way to delete screenshot from the app.
Nice
Great app, would like more ways to highlight specific text e.g. bold, italic, size etc... Until then keep up the good work
Poor use of Android intents.
So good to have something like this on Android at last!
Good way to share more than a few words and well designed flow from screenshot to post. (Also uses Twitter API correctly for authentication instead of asking for Twitter username/password in an insecure webview as most apps do.)
As above. Install fails because the "network is unreachable" even though I just installed the app over the, you guessed it, network.
I want an app that I can pull in a YouTube video or Web page /headline or pic to build my tweet. Is there anything like this?
Awesome
com.digits sdk.android.ContactsUploadService...*update* thanks for the quick response. Email sent as requested.
So far I have liked the idea and execution of this app. I wish it would allow me to connect through my hootsuite account rather than twitter only. I have multiple twitter accounts for various topics and this would make sending the exerpt much easier.
Pretty cool app. My suggestion is to add a normal "Share to..." function so users can easily share directly to any other social apps they have on their phones.
The app is running fine when I'm copying text from some browser and pasting directly. But problem comes in while using screenshot. In s screenshot is unable to detect url and also texts are coming as some weird symbols. Please fix this issue team.
I would have love this app but why must source url be compulsory? This app should be able to accommodate one's write up to be shared on twitter... Not just articles from websites thereby requiring source url.
It's needs to support more platforms for social media. It's a great app with much more potential.
Useful app welly
Seems like something that would be a great for tablets. So why not include them in the app design???.
Developer responded within one day to a large update issue and fixed it perfectly and quickly. App itself is well designed and functional.
Can't get source link to work. What do I have to do to get the source button you have to press to accept my source, and not say it is incomplete. I will 5 stars if that issue gets addressed.
I love the idea. But I want to be able to share to other apps. Perhaps when initiating a share request of the image, it could copy the source link to the clipboard for pasting.
Poor use of Android intents.
Thanks to Gina Trapani great app
Enjoy this a lot. I'll use Twitter more now because of it because I read lots of articles and I know people that follow don't always want a 10 min article read. Shout out to AAA (all about android) for the recommendation
Looks amazing and works really well, definitely recommend
Just what I needed. Love the UI. Looks great!
Been waiting for this app for so long. Still a little buggy, but awesome all the same.
So good to have something like this on Android at last!
Looks great, easy to use, but at this point is crashing very frequently on my G4. Also, you apparently do not have the option to post a screenshot without any highlighting?
I normally do this process manually but this app provides what I need in a quicker and easier way.
Very attractive grabs. Anyone know how to set Xcerpt as default to open images?
Great job
