About Regulators - Uilleann Bagpipes Drones + Regulators
Regulators, which has been available on other platforms since 2010, is now finally available for Android!
Regulators is a set of three drones and three regulators (Tenor, Baritone, and Bass) found on a full set of Uilleann pipes in the most common key of D.
This app is a great educational tool for those who already play the Uilleann pipes or who are interested in the instrument to learn about playing the regulators.
In the demo video, I'm using an earlier version of the app to play along with a recording of the jig "The Sporting Pitchfork" I made playing my own chanter.
Practice the regulators by playing along with recordings in your music library music.
Instructions:
Touch the drone puck image to start/stop the drones.
Touch the regulator keys to play them.
Touch the "?" button to show/hide the note names.
A quote from "Ed the Piper" one of the users of the original version of the app:
"Regulators is not just an app, it's an instrument in it's own right. It serves a number of functions that would be useful to students, players, composers and even Uilleann Pipe techs like me. This instrument basically mirrors a genuine set of regulators found on full sets of Uilleann Pipes but designed to be used on mobile device. Not only regulators but drones as well. So, in this app, you get your bass, baritone and tenor regulators as you can see on the screen shots, but also the bass, baritone and tenor drones..."
