About X-Edge - FREE
Prevent unintended touches on your screen edges, and as a bonus you get cool colored lines on the edge of your screen!! (this is optional of course)
Devices with curved screen edges and slim bezels have reportedly encountered issues with unintended interaction with the display and that palm-rejection features is not working as expected. It can feel like it's too sensitive around the edges of the display.
Problems with this:
- apps open accidentally
- camera apps not functioning properly
- display isn't rejecting unintended touches at the edge
- unable to take a snap!
- holding the device with one hand and using the keyboard
- you regret that you bought it
Whether you are affected by this issues or not will largely depend on how you hold the device... Even if the device has palm-rejection implemented to avoid these accidental touches from affecting the user experience. Touchscreen software can't detect with 100% accuracy whether it's a palm or a unintended touch.
Back in the days when iPhone 4 was launched with the Antenna-gate fiasco, Steve Jobs famously quipped that it was the users holding the device incorrectly. But sadly it seems like this is true about curved edge displays at the moment too. Apples solution for this was to supply special 'bumper' cases to those affected.
But at least on Android we can let other apps help us with this instead of costly 'bumber' cases. By adding the extra 'bumber' directly on the device screen edges instead! and that is what X-Edge is doing.
The way X-Edge is working is to notify you when a edge touch occur by flashing a red colored overlay on the edge touched. This will help you get a better grip on how you can adjust your palm and fingers when holding the device.
Some users are likely to be more affected than others simply based on the way they hold the device. And it can be quite easy to get accidental touches, which again can be a bit frustrating. The display is not properly rejecting the grip of your palm or fingers simply because there is no bezel or case to grab on your device or just the nature of the curved display.
This problem can be reduced, obviously, by adjusting your grip of the device.
But this is bothersome when it's causing unwanted interactions with the display.
With X-Edge the unintended touch is stopped and you get notified so you can adjust your grip instead.

KNOWN PROBLEMS THAT X-Edge can't help with!
Sometimes the keyboard does not detect inputs or keys will not respond near the curving of the edge display. This can be incredibly frustrating and unfortunately X-Edge can't help with this. But it can help you with getting used to holding the device differently by notifying you when it's triggered.

So glad I found this! Just holding the phone normally some skin would touch the screen and trigger something. Now with 12px border on each side I'm having no more issues!
