Top Hat Lecture for Android
Damn you the developer for charging it the way like this. Kys.
I despise things like this. They squeeze even more money out of already poor college students, when it's the instructors they should be charging, as they're the ones the require it in the first place. That aside, it's extremely buggy as well. Seriously? No commas allowed in multiple selection questions? You couldn't have picked a better separator character? Use something uncommon, like a tilde, or a multicharacter separator. This is basic stuff that any first semester programming student knows, and you're charging for this junk. Also, the math rendering especially needs to be much better on this mobile version. As it is, it renders every math tag on a new line which wastes a huge amount of space. Rendering it inline would be so much better. Overall, this is not something that students should be charged for, especially in its current state. It's garbage.
Annoying app.
Doesn't let me view my readings, waited for two weeks to update material before i tried it again, uninstalling now
Worst app
Have you tried REEF? if you had, you won't complain. Compare to that horrible piece of crapware, this app is very well design and worked in every way I expected. Reef is just horrid, pretty sure even the dumbest software engineering student in my class can code a better app than that.
It never let me log in in my phone
Can't renew subscription
Works well. Had no problems with the app.
Was charging students $24 really necessary? All my professor ever does with this app is make students do multiple choice questions amd sometimes short answer questions. Sometimes, I think to myself that this app could've been something free for students. Like Edmodo. Instead, we pay $24 a semester to makw sure this app doesn't lock up on us, and as students, we have enough financial worries as is.
I hate you top hat. I paid a subscription for a psychology professor I've never even met (his wife is teaching the class, claiming he's sick) and half the time we don't even use the app. AND WHEN WE DO IT'S TO TAKE ATTENDANCE! THAT'S WHAT AN ICLICKER IS FOR! Wish I could get my $25 back
I would rate it 0 stars if I can. The stupid app crashed while I was taking a quiz, it just wouldn't let me submit the answers and then it stopped working.
$24 for this type of app is ludicrous when there are well made free alternatives available. This was a one-trick company.
this is just another way to rob money from students
I've never had a connection problem with this app in the year that i've used it, but i do wish they would being their prices down a bit.
The all works, but there's many cheaper options
It won't keep the answers I choose. Every five seconds when it syncs up it changes my answers and when I submit it changes my answers. I have an Android phone and it's causing nothing but a headache and costing me a decent grade.
I hate this app with such a passion. It always crashes on me. I have missed only 2 class periods but my attendance is less than 80% because half the time this app doesn't record it. Teachers - please don't ever use this app. Students - pray and beg you never need to use Tophat.
Never had any issues with the app syncing or crashing. (I use Tophat on both on my phone and on my computer.) Overall I think it is much better than iClickers for in class quizzes. Our professor makes full use of Tophat inside and outside the classroom. We have 2-3 quiz questions per class sprinkled in as he goes through the material (so you have to immediately apply what he just taught - great for making sure you understand what's going on and pay attention). It is also very helpful for learning material from homework- instant feedback on in-chapter questions means if you get a question wrong you can immediately go back and re-read that section and attempt the question again. If you really don't get it you can read through the solution on the spot as well. Only gripe is that the grade book isn't super useful for gauging grade because it fluctuates based on whether items are open or closed. (Unless everything is closed, you don't know your actual percentage grade.)
Not good for the classroom. What's the point of being interactive in class if we're on our phones?
I tried answering a question on the app but it wouldn't register and I ended up losing a point, terrible app
The worst educational app out there
It is awesome we use it for our CS II class and it has helped a lot!
Fix yo sht
Completely overpriced
Good to use
Great
This is just another way to suck every penny you can out of college students that are already paying thousands of dollars in tuition. If professors want to use this in their classroom, FREAKING MAKE THE PROFESSORS PAY FOR THE SUBSCRIPTION!!!
Most of the bugs have been fixed but the app is still fairly slow
It's alright for the most part, it was required to buy for my class so I need it
Great app that more professor need to take advantage of!! A much better alternative to buying one of those 50 dollar clickers. It gives the students no excuse, because they are much more likely to keep up with their phone. Also helps with quizzes. Highly recommend!
Just keeps syncing over and over. Can't answer any questions, write in questions have no keyboards, heaven forbid they give you a matching question and it keeps blinking and moving the choices around is a joke. I've never written a review for an app before but this was so bad I had to.
I have had an account for 3 years and the app will not let me login. If fixed I will rewrite the review but at this point overall unacceptable.
The numbers get stacked on questions so it gets really difficult to read. Example: It should look like C6O9H12 but looks like: C 6 O 9 H 12
I had to buy this software only because my grade was literally dependent on it. The app sucks and lags.
Poor UI. Overpriced. Enjoy your money, capitalist pigs
I can't read past slides because it keeps syncing every second and returning to the latest slide. Very overpriced as well, complete rip off.
There options to switch between score, attendance, etc. The swiping is all screwed up though
Froze and crashed in the middle of a timed question. TWICE.

Yes it costs money, but so does pretty much everything tangible. My review is based on actually using it for classes. It worked perfectly every time for me. I only needed it for one semester though so I don't have long exposure to it.
