Tonido File Access Share Sync for Android
Was an unhappy Pogoplug user for years. It's performance never met my expectations. Wish I had found Tonido before now. It does everything well that Pogoplug did not do well. Tonido is not perfect, but it is pretty darn good. Keep up the good work, Tonido staff!!!
Seems to be major problems with this App at the moment. Not connecting, not being able to recover accounts, etc. People on the support forum saying the same. Please look into this. Edit: Recovery code finally received, seems to be back up and running again. You need to post something on your support forum to let people know.
The UI is atrocious. I wish I could say Tonido has come a long way, but the bad design decisions continue. Tap and hold doesn't select a folder. No, I have to dump a folders files individually into my phone. Currently I'm typing while file download failed messages flash on my screen. I will be looking for a different solution that actually works.
Has been crashing alot lately in the middle of playing music. Pics still take to long to view. Like that I can access files from my PC at home.
Cant beat free, whoever complains about missing feature should develop their own app if they think its easy to develop platforms like these and make it available for free to the public. Just use and dont complain or put bad reviews to this awesome app
Can't rotate pictures, some have bad orientation. The picture zoom in is very limited, you can zoom alot more in any Android gallery app. It would be great if thumbnails cache can be stored in external SD since they take about of space. The app is slow, it takes time to go through pictures. Sometimes it gives up trying to load thumbnails
Its ok. It fails to connect half the time. Also, a bit clumsy. There are a few tweaks that can be made which is surprising.
This app functions well, but I just wish it'd be updated to Material Design. The old Holo interface makes the app feel outdated.
Great if you want your personal cloud. I use this with my Tonido server, works ok, some disconnects here and there but nothing too bad. Wish it had some additional features but it's good enough.
Pretty good. Seems fairly good and stable it needs some polishing as it seems that the media players are still a bit unstable and it has a hard time auto detecting media types from the computer. Overall it does what it's made to do for free. I recommend it
Turn your home pc in to a full blown online server.
Easy app, tough interface Uploading of folders is not a possibility. I installed the server on a RASPBERRY PI, as the system restarts, the internal apps doesn't starts. It opens as suspended apps Windows sysc client..... Well, I don't know what to say, I could never able to login to that irrespective of all possible attempt, it keeps saying invalid credentials It's really a good app, but not the best. Need lots of effort for improvement. Specially the interface
Tonido in IOS is good. But in Android is too buggy and so much error. Especially when contacting servers. I always need to restart the application in order to establish the connection to the server
This is pretty awesome. I was looking for ways to set up a Raspberry Pi as a home cloud server, when I came across Tonido. It seems to do everything I wanted, and more.
Does the job but it's very slow, interface annoying and when you go a folder back you start on top again
Most unintuitive/annoying app for accessing a computer. Aside from that, it manages to work sometimes.
I had no luck with earlier versions of this app. I always had trouble streaming. Now it works perfectly and I can listen to my music easily. Well done!
Very useful with very few minor issues (the windows app that provides desktop direct access spontaneously disconnects at times, occasional inability to upload and download with the sync app requiring to go to the website). The issues are by no means deal breakers considering how very useful this cloud program is. Cannot work without it any more. Love the folder and file sharing setups, including file share expiration date and password-protected designated user access to specific files. Great access across iOS, Android, Windows, and Mac (I have used them all).
Excellent Application. It does what is supposed to do. I really love it. you can access your data from anywhere on your mobile devices. No worry about cloud space run out.
Failed to login into server using supplied credentials. The same credentials work perfectly on the web and everywhere else.
It's great but it has crashed 3 times on me just today. Super frustrating.
Why is there no reply at all to the below request that I put in long ago? Please add support for viewing and listing of files that are 100s and 1000s in number with full details like size, modified date, total number for each file type and so on. You guys have done a terrific job, otherwise. Thumbs up!
This is a great, and easy-to-use solution with one huge oversight! The inability to back up music, and photos off of an external SD card on an Android phone. Other than that it is solid as a rock, and streaming capabilities are amazing!
All the files that are stored in my pc.... now at my fingertips on my cel.... all the songs that I have in my pc...(and I have a lots...I mean a whole lot) ....now I can instantly play flawlessly on my cel... ain't it great ?!!!..... And there is more: reads most popular types of files, I can download any file to my cel or share it......... Too good to be true? not at all...its TONIDO it's true.. Thanks guys....its not great... it is superb!!!
UPDATE: 04/2016 - Having issues with app crashing while logging on as guest user. Even after deleting and recreating a guest account, reboots, etc.///Does exactly what I need. However, there are some quirks but maybe it's associated with the DLNA firmware imbedded in my NAS.
Bravo! This is an app that has always performed flawlessly.Perfect. People complaining about not being able to find files, etc. just don't know what they are doing, they should use something which requires no thought.
Android app does everything it states. Problem is, the Windows version of the desktop "server" requires the PC to be switched on AND LOGGED IN. It won't run as a service. Not good for home servers, especially if you allow your Windows machine to auto restart to install security updates.
Works well but I have a few complaints. This version won't rotate out of landscape mode and pictures with the same file name in different folders will show the thumbnail of the first one you view.
Data Exceedingly hard to move effectively or find after moving. Plays ok over wifi & internet. Settings for program are confusing & difficult to apply with surity
This app has been amazing for when I want to access my server at Windermere (80Mi away from home). I can get upwards of 800KB/s over WiFi and I have even downloaded films over this
Disappointed to find no playback for AVI/FLV files on Android 4.1.2. I'm WiFi connected to Windows 10 PC and have MX Player installed on Android, but can't find a way to force Tonido to use that installed player. Don't want to install VLC since MX Player otherwise works fine for all my videos.
...But could use a global or "select all" option to remove all files in a given folder. Still, Tonido is an excellent free cloud solution, and beats leaving your computer open to shell-based attacks (OpenSSH, Telnet). Definitely recommended!
Excelent service to access the files from computer. The web pages for account needs a modern redesign with full screen pages (on a 1920-1080 screen the fixed content is displayed only in the middle of the browser). 1. At the Settings button, it is possible to enable a folder upload from mobile that will be saved in computer at: C:Users...Pictures but no photos were uploaded. I would like to select more folders for upload and to have the option to change the saving to a different location. I can select a different location, but from the web account, and only after I changed this location ... the photos started to upload to computer. 2. The Play button for videos has these options: Auto (worked for an mp4, didn't work for an mkv), Play Original (worked), Play Live Stream (didn't work, also it takes time to create in computer many .ts files from the video), Play Optimized (didn't work, for this is needed to Optimize first, but the conversion which is slow didn't finish the video). The included video player doesn't have the option to select subtitles. The best method to play videos is to: 1. press on video 2. press on the arrow from top-right 3. select VLC (needs to be installed).
The concept is good and is perfect for sharing but the sync doesn't work like it should. This deserves a higher rating because if the concept it is intended to be but lack of attention is hold it back
Android app has permission to read phone state and contacts. Why would it need permissions to either of these? If developers could respond to this I, and I assume others, would be greatly appreciative of you clearing up these erroneous permissions.
Tonido in IOS is good. But in Android is too buggy and so much error. Especially when contacting servers. I always need to restart the application in order to establish the connection to the server
Great prog/APP. It is a pity that you can't save to a SD card (on a Galaxy S7 or the likes), but the rest is really great.
Definitely comes in handy... Would be nice if the mobile version had better navigation capabilities to switch between mobile device and remote desktop w/o having to exit the app and restart it. All in all, makes retrieving files/docs easier than having to upload, then download for other cloud services.
It's so easy and quick to install on both your computer and your mobile device unlike other Home cloud services that claim to give you the same functionality as this app it actually does everything it says it can do and all for free however much storage your computer has that's how big your cloud is!

Even though I have a cloud service that syncs my more essential files, I have found this service invaluable. Nothing beats the convenience and having my entire computer as a Cloud Drive. Plus, if I'm working remotely and I have something that ends up being saved in error, I have everything that is in my essential files backed up on a secondary drive on my home computer which creates a version history 5 levels deep of all the changes for each file as they are saved. Tonido gives me easy remote access to these backups in case I need to replace a file that I've been working on that was saved in error.
