TomTom GPS Navigation Traffic

Since the last update, the app gets stuck in a loop and sticks on the loading screen. I expect more from an app that has now been over taken for functionality from free apps. Is there any beta testing done by Tomtom before release. 12/4/17. This has been an ongoing issue for 6 months and they still haven't got a fix. Pathetic. DO NOT PURCHASE. Use Waze instead

For the last 6 months, online services (traffic and cameras) have failed to work. TomTom are aware this affects many users, but have not provided a fix, or offered an extension to the license. A shame, as Tomtom is still the easiest to use and is me preferred satnav app. Sygic works just fine, even though it's not as nice to use.

Beware the latest update, i had to download the Western Europe map even though I still have the UK map. Not everyone will have 5GB space to do this. Swore never to buy another ToTom Sat Nav with built in obsolescence but I think this works out cheaper than buying one every 5 years anway. It's getting better all the time except that the eco routes now take me down very narrow country lanes so i had to stop using them.

The last two releases have completely broken get directions from other apps such as Yelp. Given that the TomTom POI database is poor this makes TomTom nearly unusable for me unless I want to look up the address in another app and manually type it in to TomTom every time. If I could give you zero stars due to completely ignoring customer complaints through four release cycles I would. Ugh!

The following problem was temporary. Increased to 3 stars: The recent update fails to log in, which leads the licensing to allocate 0 miles so the app becomes worthless. Even if I'm experiencing a temporary issue with the tomtom servers this is an awful single point of failure.

Be aware that an upgrade may still need to do extra work. This means you should open the app after an upgrade before driving - pref. on wifi. You may need to download more of the upgrade or a new map. For example after the latest upgrade, when opening the app, some pages appear showing what has been changed - by swiping each page across - but when you get to the page with the "Done" button it doesn't seem to work. I only realised the reason when I saw a download starting. You need to wait for another 3 mins before the app is usable. This isn't ideal when you are in the car waiting to go - using up 4G data. Tom Tom should show if addtional downloads or config is needed via a notification alert. "Tom Tom has been updated, please open up the the app. to complete - approx. X minutes to complete. You may need to restore a purchase with your login details"

Love the idea of the enhanced lane guidance in the latest update but please put it back on the left hand side. This feels way more natural for someone in the UK as we drive on the left and normally exit motorways on the left. Either that or have the option to toggle the side on which the lane guidance is shown,dependant on country

It's very good and much better than Google maps when driving but annoying that I can't mute the voice when I'm trying to listen to my auxiliary in the car, as the voice drowns out my music. Strange as on an actual TomTom device it can be muted very easily!

The best of them all and I've had them all. Wish you could report map errors as you pass them, as I've done it via website and noones corrected them.

Cannot log in after the new update, this has made my app worthless. Unable to use maps.

Since the latest update 12/04/17, I cannot get logged in and therefore navigate as there are no miles left. The error message 'oops, something went wrong' describes it well and any server problems that Tomtom say are fixed now obviously aren't

Great but would like to control with ok google or cortana so can keep my hands on the wheel

Stopped working altogether after Apr-2017 update. Moto-G. App S, then fails to download required data. Says there is an internet connection problem, which the isn't, as I'm able to send this review!

Latest update allows remote destination setting via the website. Could be a useful feature.

Doesn't work. After start you'll see "loading app" and... That's all. (S7E, Nougat).

It's fab but I keep having to re install it to get the app to load. Apart from that it's good value for money and never let's me down when it does work

Speed cameras are not shown. In Stuttgart Germany where i live. It shows only some cameras in highway. No cameras in the city compared to the Garmin that i have in my car.

Complicated user interface needs streamlined only alerts speed cameras every now an again not worth it

Used to be good but since an update won't work so I'm deleting it and will reload if it doesn't work then it's gone for good.

Would be an awesome app, if not enormous phone battery draining, comparing to any other navigation app.

I use TomTom for my hauling service and, it makes me money and saves me time. I love TomTom!

I switched from the TomTom navigation device to this app on my phone and I must say, this works much better than the 'stand alone' device. The phone's hardware and software, such as touch screen technology and GPS accuracy, wins big time and updating the maps is much easier and faster. Too bad you can only use it for a few kilometers a month with this free app.

Why no homescreen shortcuts? Every other navigation app has the option to add a shortcut to your homescreen for frequent destinations. Why would you not add this as it means driving to your destination with one click of the homescreen rather than the hassle of searching your points of interest? Very disappointing and an obvious error from a paid for app. Also the new feature "long press the app icon" doesn't make sense..

App crashes every time it updates. Currently it states unable to connect to the TomTom servers for 4 days. I've performed every bit of troubleshooting imaginable and it still doesn't work. There are posts on Google going back as far as 2014 about the same issue and TomTom won't take responsibility for something that is clearly their issue. Would not recommend to anyone, totally unreliable

I've used the app since it was first released and have found it to be very useful both at home and abroad. The ability to install a map of a country you intend to visit and then navigate around like a local, with traffic updates included, is brilliant. The voice instructions are very clear and natural too. The problem, and it's a big one, is the voice instructions frequently stop working. The only solution for this is to uninstall and reinstall the app. This means that the maps have to be downloaded too.

Used the free mileage out today to test this app and very close to buying the upgraded package. Only thing holding me back is the battery usage seemed high compared with Google maps and when in use all day would be a struggle. Also the variable limit speed cameras around the Midlands motorway network all show as 70mph, unsure how you could keep that updated though as the limit changes at the flick of a switch

This was my favourite app and now it will not even load. Keeps coming up with errors or will just sit there loading and going no further. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall did not work, tried to restart the phone it did not work. Either fix the app or give me a refund as i do not want to pay for an app i cannot use. Please advise why you have not responded to me. I paid a lot of money to use this app and now it is useless

You may have noticed I have Uninstalled and reinstalled several times. Overall I like the app and have relied on TOM TOM standalone GPS in my car. The only issue is that ....and I've tried a couple of voices.....the voices don't finish saying navigation, they cut out before finishing. I have other GPS apps installed, and other issues with them. I have a Note 3, just wondering what could be the matter?

Keeps letting me down when I really need it Tomtom live traffic has been intermitant for days. No the app wont even load not good when your 300 miles from home and depending on it. I won't be renewing my subscription nor will my wife.

This is one of the better nav apps, and in general works well. It's expensive, but you get what you pay for. My biggest issue so far is that you are not allowed to download computer generated voices in languages other than the phone language. This is a silly restriction, and will make me rethink the subscription when the time comes.

The app is great but it seems to download updates on WiFi without warning. So I've started it on my driveway and not been able to drive away until it has finished. Once I drove off and it never forgave me and I had to reinstall.
