Toggl Time Tracker, Timesheet for Android
Update: Fifth star added for 1) quick response from the Toggl team regarding the issue in my original review, and 2) for the delete feature being present all this time. I had overlooked it completely. Great app! Original review: I like how easy it is to start a task that you've recently done by pressing the play button next to it. That also gets a bit annoying though, when you accidentally hit the wrong task and have no way to delete the entry except on the computer. Its not a big deal, as you can simply stop the entry and only have added a few seconds to something. Still, for cleanliness' sake on the screen it would be great to delete entries perhaps by holding one down to select it, then pressing delete from a list of options.
Recently set up an account and was excited to use the mobile app. Disappointment, not up to par with the web app. Freezes temporarily when transitioning between the menu and selected screens, crashed the first couple times I used it, other oddities. No updates since April. Now looking for an alternative...
The app works great. My only issue is that once you launch it, you can't make it go away unless you restart your phone. So every couple hours, a prompt pops up to remind you to log your time. It's a minor annoyance for a great app!
I've been enjoying the web version in my laptop. On my phone though, it won't allow me to sign in with my Google account (like I do in my desktop). Very weird. Wish I could use it.
A small app and simple to use but it's missing the feature to edit projects and clients (or I cannot find it!). Sometimes I get some false positive email notifications about tasks running when it's already stopped (maybe because when I stopped it I already had turn of the internet).
I use the Mac desktop app constantly, and it works very well. I've become particularly reliant on the pomodoro timer function. Unfortunately, the app is much less appealing. Despite all the details for sessions appearing in the desktop app, there are project details missing in the mobile app. The mobile does not sync effectively with the desktop app (in fact often it doesn't sync at all). And the lack of a pomodoro timer feature in the mobile app makes this much less usable for me personally. Overall, I'm inclined to choose a solution that works more effectively and seamlessly across both desktop and mobile. On this front, Toggl simply doesn't cut it.
Used to be a lot better. The app only seems to synchronize when it's open and active, so if you stop or start another task on your computer or in the browser it will look like it's still running in the app. Sometimes this results in extra-long tasks being logged that you have to edit. You also used to be able to drag the task notification alert down to expand it and stop it right there, without opening the app, but that's gone now. You used to be able to edit running time and add minutes in 5-minute increments, or simply change the running timer live. It's sad that these features and functionality are gone but hopefully they'll come back soon. Until then this app is just two stars.
I used toggle for all my time tracking both on the app and on desktop. Now the app does not work on my Pixel XL.
Seems like a cool app, but there are serious performance problems on my Galaxy S7. So much so that it slows the entire phone down to a crawl. Never seen any app cause such as much of a problem. I guess it's a memory leak.
The app is complete garbage, the web-interface on the other hand is miles better. The first 2 hours of using the app on my phone, and it already crashed about 5-7 times. Using the app you can't edit projects and you can only view graphs from the point of view of projects.
I find the app really useful to track time against my different projects. I work part time and it helps me check I've done my hours for the week. Much better than paper!!!! I like the reporting side of it too. I get a weekly email with a summary per project. BUT it crashes several times daily on android. Please fix in next update and I'll increase the stars! Thanks.
Bummer. Was looking forward to using this app, but the Google single sign on button simply wasn't functional. I figure if you can't nail that detail, then I don't really trust the rest of the app.
As per title, this app is still a work in progress, but otherwise functional. The Android Wear app won't run at all ("unfortunately, Toggl has stopped") and the Web version has a lot more features and control. I'd be very interested in using it more when the Android wear app works - sometimes it's just a hassle to start and stop all the time on my phone.
I should be able to just input that I worked for 1 hour rather than having to type in what specific times I worked... waste of my time. The timer running in my notification panel is annoying.
Since the amazing new web app, the android app has become useless. Won't sync project names, won't sync from phone to server... It's just crazed!!!
Slow, doesn't always sync, doesn't have a manual sync button... Would not use if my company didn't use Toggl, honestly their website would probably be quicker...
Web app is perfect, with so many features! A great solution for tracking time! However, the Android app has problems... It crashes sometimes without a reason... Some changes made in web app doesn't reflect in Android app... For example, I changed the color of some Projects in the web app, but in Android these changes haven't appeared; almost all colors has turned blue! In Android app, the reports are poorer, I can't filter the entries by tag, for instance...
Well designed app, i find it quite useful as a freelancer. Lacks a price/hour tracking feature but that is not really a problem for me. The widget deletes your projects without asking anything when you tap record on an existing job, and it starts a new unnamed project every time you press. I lost track of a few work hours because of that terrible widget.
Clicking "play" button on previous entry resets it? Why? It should resume it, or give an option to set it up... Not possible to edit, remove tags, projects without being logged in. You should really check how the fragmens/activities are added to the stack. It's a nonsense how it's implemented now.
I have enjoyed using toggl on both the web and on the mobile app. I noticed that for some odd reason, what I entered on the mobile app was different than what I entered on the web. When I try to sync the mobile app it just says "no connection" even though I have a stable connection. Earlier today I used the web app, and now today, when I went to count up my hours so I could be paid, all of the entries between January 15th, and July 13th are completely gone, some of which I haven't been paid for, but I don't remember how many hours. I am livid. I love toggl, but I may have to find an alternative.
I really like this app. The design is very intuitive and it has a lot of nice features. There are minor issues where the app crashes if there is no internet access but they are not critical crashes and no data is lost. Very useful and highly functional. One improvement I can think of would be to store a week's worth of reports locally so that I can see the graphs while offline.
I love that it's easy to add things in if you forgot to track something. The fact that I can make categories galore and view stats about how I'm spending my time EASILY is the best part of the app. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is that it no longer automatically pops up on my phone when I've started tracking on the computer- this was a helpful feature since I got back and forth between the two often.
Generally speaking quite useful - can be used to time track as well as to see reports. However, on my Galaxy S5 it crashes frequently. This usually happens when I get back to the app from somewhere else via Android's pull down menu. Also, it would be nice to optionally have the app stay in the notification tray even when it's not tracking time. This way, when you return from, say, lunch you can go back to it more easily. And sometimes the total time tracked for the day is not updated with the time of the currently running timer. So, say you have worked on something for 6 hours, then started the timer on a different project, time was running for 1 hr, the total time for the day may show 6 hours, not 7. This does seem to work sometimes, but not always.
Updating my previous review. This is still a great time tracking app. However, once again the latest release introduces an annoying new bug. If you enter details for a time entry in the app, it takes a few seconds to sync. If you start a new entry before the sync completes, it loses the information you entered. Kind of annoying and I've had to do a lot of fiddling with the app because of it.
Using Toggl heavily since Feb 2016, even turned a couple friends on to it. UI is smooth, sleek and shiny while not being ostentatious. The defyingly simple Reporting capabilities add a tremendous amount of flexibility to glean insight. And to top it off, I don't think I've ever experienced better support/service from, well, anywhere.
Awesome app!!! Before this I wasted so much time procrastinating while doing task. This app really helps me focus, and used with the mac OSX app lets me sync tasks between my app and phone. i would recommend it to anyone that really want to see what they are spending their time on when doing a project.
Same as the authors of some recent comments, I experience problems with Android version of toggl while it was perfect for a long time earlier. I wonder if some of the recent changes in software are responsible for its non-synchronizing and unexpectedly stopping. Would be grateful for developers' input into making this app as effective as before.
Easy to use time tracking tool. Sync from Desktop to mobile notification is not always working smoothly, but after starting the app all gets synced well. Still missing an easy way to simple change past time tracks (do not change end time when start time is shifted)
Edit: removing another star after zero updates to fix the crashing. The team say it's going to be updated but no progress in months. Everything is better on their site though. Original: Coming back to Toggl after a year and the app is still unstable and the widget is inconsistent. When it works it's a pretty, well thought out app, fast and without lag. The reports are basic but perfect for a mobile device. Stability is just very poor. Had nearly 10 complete failures in just the first day of using it. Fix the stability and this is a 5* app.
Then don't use this app. I had been using it for a few months to test it out and as my time tracking got more complex I decided to actually sign up for the service to get the reports. As soon as I signed up, my past few months of data disappeared. Gone. Not coming back. Pretty bad oversight.
I've been using Toggl for one week and find it very well designed for time tracking multiple projects. The glaring problem, however, is the app keeps my phone"awake" continuously. Even when I'm not using the app, it is still using loads of resources and draining my phone's battery. This permission can't be disabled. As for others, I find that the app slows my phone's overall performance and sporadically crashes. I like Toggl but will likely switch to using only the web app.
Slow interface. App drains my phone battery. Awesome idea, but executed terribly. Hung twice since installing it, in the space of two hours. Was a pain to change the timings when I press the wrong item to track. Painful user experience overall.
I just started using this system last week and really like it. However, for the past two days it seems that it will not sync properly. I could have it running on the app but it will not appear online. Or, if I stop it in the app, it is still going online. Very frustrating at the moment. If you only use desktop and browser extensions, it is great but the app is really important to get repaired. Update: Unfortunately, it seems the problem still continues since my first review. Have now had several instances where stopping an entry on the app would only stop it on the app but not on the web system. Unfortunately, I would not realize until I would get an email from toggl that there is an entry running longer than 8 hours.
I love toggl as a service but if I start a timer on the web I can't stop it from the app. If I start and save a timer on the app it doesn't save and display on the web. They act like they are two entirely separate entities and it's infuriating. Please change this behavior and I'll change this review.
New Award: The worst App in the University! App crash when start-up, App crash when you open time entry, App crash when you choose project, App crash when you choose tags, App crash when you close time entry. Work with this app is the worst expierence from my life. Google Play does not have the same worst App. One start for free app. Thanks.
I have similar reservations as other users.Toggl used to be a useful, intuitive app, but has become increasingly unstable in recent upgrades. Loading times are awful, frequent crashes, laggy or no response for certain buttons, and an increasing amount of syncing errors. Not very good for an app whose sole purpose is recording and syncing time. I'm slowly starting to look for an alternative
Using Toggl for more than year, this spring after some update could not open any more. The problem was solved in three days by delevoper. I`m happy again and surprised why this is available for free.
Can't get wear app to launch without it crashing. That is less than helpful if you are trying to track on your watch, which is the whole reason I chose this app. Might have to go with another provider. Support?
So intuitive it's obvious. Communicates so well it's beautiful. Nothing in this world is perfect but Toggl is the benchmark. This is the lead time tracking app desktop and mobile. Totally reliable. If you're trying to work out which app is the one, this is it.

I've been a huge fan of both web and mobile versions of the app for several years, but after the latest update (2016-04-20) I just cannot log in with Google—the app either crashes or doesn't take my tap on the line "Log in with Google". Disappointing. So, 5 stars before and 1 star now would result in 3. UPDATE. After next app update—which was available to me not sooner than 30th of April—the app got back to normal. A whole week without mobile Toggl turned out to be extremely uncomfortable. Changing 3 stars for 4.
