About Todo.txt

Simple, fun to-do list manager syncs your todo.txt file to Dropbox.

Countless apps and sites store your to-do list in their own proprietary database and file format. But you can open a todo.txt file with every text editor under the sun. Todo.txt for Android manages your to-do list on the go and automatically syncs the file to all your computers and devices via Dropbox.

Future-proof your to-do list and store it in a plain text file YOU control. Todo.txt for Android makes it easy to add, update and prioritize tasks, tag them with project names and contexts, search, filter, and most importantly, mark your tasks complete.

To use this app, you must have a Dropbox account (http://dropbox.com).

I am really happy with this app so far. Please add an option to disable swipe to delete feature it is too sensitive and I keep accidentally erasing tasks

This app has had no updates in 2+ years. Check out "Simpletask Cloudless"

Super simple, auto-backed up to-do list. Does exactly what a todo list should.

I love the idea of this app; I am able to keep a copy of the todo.txt file on my computers and edit it using my favorite text editor (vim) and when I am not near a computer I can use this app - but the app still needs work. Pros: It is easy to add and modify priorities. It is easy to add contexts and identify and associated projects. It also has a capability to automatically archive completed tasks. Cons: The sorting function needs work; there is no way to sort based on contexts or projects. Also, there is no filter capability yet. I want to be able to look at only tasks related to a project or a context. Finally, while it isn't difficult to modify contexts or projects, it isn't as easy as it is to modify priorities. I have only recently discovered this app so I don't know how actively this project is developed. If this is actively developed, and these basic features are implemented soon, I will feel that this was well worth the relatively high purchase price. At this point I can only give it 3 stars but I have high expectations. I am certainly not going to remove it from my phone.

Edit: Please add Google Drive support! I bought this to support Gina and didn't think I'd actually use it as I don't use Todo lists often. I was wrong! I use it all the time mostly for remembering when to push to github Repos. Thanks!

This is a fantastic, geeky app, especially when paired with the command line desktop version. My *only* complaint is that it syncs only with Dropbox. Why, oh why not Google Drive as well? Fix this and it would be perfect!

M70%
by M####:

The app prompted me to rework my todo.txt into the official todo.txt format, so great on that front. “Synchronize when using app" is way to annoying however. Anytime you upload a change you immediately have to download the change again. If you dont, you can loose your last entries. Likewise, the periodic sync option is an invitation for dataloss if you work on your phone and pc within a short amount of time. Not to mention the additional battery drain.

Great, easy to use, Todo list manager! I've tried a lot of to do list managers and I find this one the most usable and flexible. I can use the same list from many different devices: my desktop, my phone, and my tablet. The fact that it's just a text file makes it future-proof and personally manageable.

M70%
by M####:

This app only uses a todo.txt file synced with Dropbox. If you don't want to depend on a third-party to manage your plain-text todo list, just use a text editor program.

H70%

I've tried them all. This one is simply the best... But I no longer want to use Dropbox. Please expand the synching options.

M70%
by M####:

Love the flexibility, and the GTD friendly system. Needs a couple more features, but it's far and away my favourite task manager.

Y70%

I have been using todo.txt for the last two months and I love it. It is exactly what I need, simple and easy to use. The only thing I would love to see added is a password/passcode protection.

U70%
by U####:

Looks a bit raw and unpolished. Huge annoyance is that the widget forgets which context you're in and reverts to displaying all items.

It's fine but bulk updates don't work very well at all. Would be fine if free app

I love that it doesn't need any extra permissions and gets out of my way. Only wish I could sync it with ownCloud.

Share your human readable todo.txt from dropbox and sync it from desktop, mobile, windows, linux...

I use this simple and intuitive app in both my home and work life. It's really easy to learn and you can build complex lasts of tasks and easily filter them to make sense of what needs doing and what has been done. Additionally because it writes to plain text files you can roll your own parsers if you want to read into things like pomodoro timers, calendars, etc.

D70%
by D####:

Excellent syncing with dropbox. No fuss interface with just the right amount of features.

D70%
by D####:

This app is simple and elegant. Does exactly all I want it to do. Nothing more. Take quick notes, put into categories of my choosing and allows me to prioritize them. Too make this even better backs it all up as a raw text file to drop box in case I decide to move to another app or just for back up.

D70%
by D####:

This app works seamlessly. Clean overview, filter and search capabilities, and as versatile as the todo.txt CLI script itself. One star subtracted because I had Dropbox sync issues previously. Whenever I changed a task on mobile I was alerted that there was a newer file version on Dropbox. I had to upload from mobile to Dropbox, then download from Dropbox to mobile, to get the message to go away. This was fixed when I moved the todo.txt file from the Dropbox root to a /todo/ subfolder. I'm mostly writing this review to provide others with a fix for the same problem.

It's a fine app with good GTD notation, open source with companion CLI, desktop and web apps. ...My only problem is that I no longer use Dropbox and you have to sign in using a Dropbox account. ....You could do that and then choose to not sync but it would be nice to see other options. .....I am now trying Simpletask Cloudless which looks like a handy fork. ....Gina is an inspirational writer, podcaster & dev, I'm just a bit more concerned in a post-Snowden world.

Combined with todo.txt on a desktop, this is fantastic!

Z70%

Decent app if you're looking for a minimalist todo solution. A bit too minimal for my tastes, and constant Dropbox sync issues.

P70%
by P####:

No dropbox, no program? I guess I get it. There's two way sync without dropbox. Cleverness in the simplicity.

Z70%
by Z####:

Gina really nailed this app. All sorts of services come and go. Why take a chance that your preferred note taking service is no longer an option? Is there anything better than owning your own todo list?

Z70%
by Z####:

Simple, still has a reminder functionality (centralized on a calendar which is where I'm looking all day), and an open way to prioritize and categorize tasks. No need for a proprietary file format...but you need Dropbox which is OK for this user.

Z70%
by Z####:

I love this app and am head over heels for it. After I lost Astrid, *single tear* I thought I had a hole that could never be filled...until I found this little baby. If you need a solid app that helps you get things done in a true GTD method, this app is for you. It doesn't help you keep tabs on your coworkers' or family members' tasks, but it will get your ship sailing in the right direction...and maybe even set your heather on fire, too.

Z70%
by Z####:

Still waiting for ownCloud support.

L70%
by L####:

This app is simple and efficient for task management. I wish multiple filters (eg. two contexts selected) can be supported at the next update.

Z70%
by Z####:

While I do wish it would have an ad-supported version so I could try it out before paying, Todo.txt was a solid purchase. It isnt the prettiest interface in the world, but it works very well. Its become an integral part of my work along with Todo.txt CLI on my Linux and Mac machines. The fact that I can now manage that same todo list on the go is a godsend.

Z70%
by Z####:

Dropbox integration is fine for some -- I use it myself however the way I have things configured I CANNOT use todo.txt. it's sort of a slap in the face for a user to be asked to pay for an app which is so tied to a single cloud provider.

Z70%
by Z####:

Nothing to add really, it does exactly what it is supposed to do without any unnecessary extras. And it does it very good.

Please add the option to use Google drive instead of the now tainted Dropbox.

The perfect task manager for those constantly bouncing between different computers (running different OSs) and devices. Love the Dropbox integration!

Great multi platform todo app

W70%

Love this app but am leaving Drop Box behind. Can it be synced to Google Drive?, One Drive?, something else?

R70%

The export to calendar addition is golden. The scrollable widget is worth a whole workspace on two different devices. Date and tag sorts are priceless.
