About BatteryFu battery saver

BatteryFu (pronounced Battery-Foo, like in Kung-Fu) extends battery life (and lowers data usage) by changing always-on mobile/wifi data to periodic sync (meaning it disables your mobile data and/or Wifi, then checks your accounts every X minutes). This also provides a way to manage your data usage.

BatteryFu is also great for tablet use to keep accounts sync'd even when the tablet is in sleep/standby. Normally accounts won't sync due to WiFi going to sleep (see "WiFi sleep policy").

*NOTE*: BatteryFu requires root on Android 5+ to toggle mobile data.

BatteryFu is open source software.

Features:
* Lean and fast (see download size!)
* Work for all networks (CDMA/GSM) from Gingerbread up
* Notification icon: lets you switch modes even while inside another app.
* Data while screen is on, with screen off delay
* Data while charger is plugged in
* Pre-defined modes: Travel mode, Online mode, Offline mode, Night mode, etc.
* BatteryMinder shows battery stats, like usage during screen off, kernel wakelocks, etc.
* 3rd party app support (using intents) so that you can control BatteryFu from your own app.
* Open source

Tips for even better battery life:
* Select "2g networks only" in Android settings
* Turn off "Network notification" under Wifi settings
* Uninstall apps if your phone is running out of RAM (e.g. slow to get to homescreen or switch apps)
* If your battery life is out of control, reset phone to factory defaults, install BatteryFu and be amazed! Then slowly re-install some apps
* Do not put apps on SD card if they run in the background. SD card access drains battery.

See website for more information, if you have problems, or would like to donate. Email for support, I don't check comments.

Installed it from F-droid. Works erratically & is not able to switch mobile data on/off properly. Even after exiting the app & restarting mobile without starting the app it didn't let mobile data connect until I uninstalled the app. Gets an additional star for GPL.

It does wat it says. I'm able to control my data with the widget and it auto syncs at intervals I can set. Its very useful. My only request is that u make a different widget with a better settings short cut. Its hard to hit sometimes.

Can you please add option to set shorter on-off duration? Say 5 min sleep time and 2 min connect time?

I have been looking for something like this for ages but missed it because I was searching under WiFi for a toggling device. This app is totally user configurable and you can choose whether or not to toggle mobile data, which I would not want to do unless I had an unlimited data plan. You can choose to have an icon on the notification bar and detailed status information is also given in the notification area, which is useful. The app is only a few kilobytes and uses virtually no power itself. If you use BatteryFU's own menu (main screen) to control your WiFi, you will not create any conflicts with scheduled events. A 2-star reviewer has not realised this! It works perfectly and is completely reliable. Also works well on my wife's Sony Xperia. BatteryFU is better than some similar paid-for apps, is free and I have not seen any adverts so a big thank you to the developer. EXCELLENT

To be the best, here we have the elegance and sleakness in just 70k. Unlike the competitors, all of which are around or over a meg!? Free shouldn't mean bloatware, this is that example.

Best battery saving app! Yeah the internet goes off but its perfect when your not using your phone. Love it :)

U70%

This is a really good app, and a real batterysaver. The only thing missing is a choice to disable batteryfu when clicking on the notification bar. Now we have the option to set "Travel" or "Always off". Hoping for an option to be "Always on" as well. You have to enter the application and disable the app to do this.

Eg every 5, 7, 10 min to turn on data, otherwise, great app

Q70%
by Q####:

a very good no nonsense which does what it says but lacks whitelisting of apps. Internet radio won't work or other similar streaming apps won't work when the screen is off. other similar battery saver apps have this feature and this app lacks only this feature. very light weight and friendly to ram memory.

Best of its kind. A battery saver that has no equal. This dev has raised the bar and is miles ahead of the wannabe competition with their high priced bloat ware. Bravo & thanks.

Q70%

like juice defender (which I paid for but didn't work) except it's so small. only thing is I had to install wifi fixer because wifi wouldn't resume automatically on screen unlock, similar to jd

Q70%

.....3hrs later, full battery dead. WTF?!

K70%

Really useful for Pebble users. Would be nice if it provided intents for integrating with toggle apps, or if the notification could cycle through standard > always on > always off.

Z70%

Sleep time resetting to default values always. Please correct it.

Y70%

Doesn't save the setting everytime i have to open the application and save the settings again again

Y70%

The only criticism i have of this app is that there is no option to stop it from turning on mobile data when there is an active Wi-Fi connection.

As far as I can see it doesn't automatically flip into night mode properly. At least the battery left after a night unplugged is different if you manually select night mode as to when you leave it in standard to do its own thing. Either way, it doesn't seem to do a particularly good job of saving that battery compared to turned wifi off entirely. If the wifi is turned on only a fraction of the time, then much more should be left available. Needs work.
