KeepScreen (now free) for Android
KeepScreen block screen timeout when predefined applications are active.
Save your battery with short timeout but have great user experience with preselected "no timeout" apps. Usefull for reading mail, browsing, or guide with Google maps.
update : luminosity prefs
My display was turning off when playing full screen video in browser using flash player lite. If the video is viewed in the browser then the display was staying on, but when the video in the browser is viewed in full screen then the display was turning off. This app has solved the problem.
not working on android 6. New versions of android are even worse than previous ones! All good apps are becoming redundant. My next phone is so going to be an apple.
But now, like others said, it just stops working and I have to keep restarting the service, now useless.
Used this for 2 years now and it worked perfectly. Now I just upgraded to lollipop and it stopped working. Too bad this isn't properly maintained.
Some selected apps do not stay on. Repair to get 5 stars
Worked fine on my droid incredible but on my incredible 4g everything I turn off phone or change the batter I must turn this app back on manually. Also doesn't seem to work on every app that has been pre selected
I wish it worked for my Note 3.. unable to keep screen on with flipboard
Does an excellent job keeping screen on.. But in the notification bar it keeps poppin up.. Its very distracting #I uninstalled..
This app used to be good. Now it doesn't work for more than a minute, even with every app selected when it says it's turned on the screen still goes dark.
People say it doesn't work because they're not pressing start service after selecting their browser in the app list. Once you do that your screen won't dim and turn off. Smart stay only works when you're looking at the screen. This app allows you to put the phone down and still watch a flash video.
I feel abandoned. This was the best app. Worked on everything. Once android did their latest update, it stopped working. Don't the app. distributers have a job to do!!
It worked when I installed, but since some months ago it is useless, I waited for some update but nothing!
This app is a lifesaver. Instead of reworking my OS on two ancient, very uncooperative Haipads, I got Keepscreen. Now I can use one tablet as an alarm clock and the other to give me a weather report and they stay on. This gave new life to two old tablets and saved me about $100. The trick is to install Keepscreen first, then download and install the application you want it to affect. Then set Keepscreen to that app.
Unless I'm reading what this app is supposed to do wrong, it doesn't work for me. The apps I select, screen still goes off
Sony Xperia Z3 with lollipop. Did not seem to have done anything.
Did work great but no updates since 2012 so probably need to find a new app.
This was a clean, reliable and easy to use app. It's a shame the author didn't keep it current with newer versions of Android.
I used this app for a couple years on different devices and Android versions and it's been great. LG G3 upgraded to Lollipop and it's not working any more. Sad face. If this can get upgraded that'd be AWESOME. :)
If the last app before turning phone off was the selected one and you connect the phone to a charger, the screen goes on when the charge becomes 100% and then stays on forever.
Loved this app and used it every day. Suddenly it does not work and am forced to uninstall. Very disappointed.
No longer seems to work with Android 5.0 unfortunately... Great app, but now useless.
It would be great if you add the feature to keep the app active after restarting the device!
Don't work with verizons android lollipop 5.0 so if you have that running this wont work at all. I have a galaxy note 3 running unrooted stock android lillipop 5.0 same as all verizon users.
It was useful, but: no auto launch anymore + buggy on Android 5.0. No update since 2012, the developer abandoned it a long time ago.
Not enough stars to rate this app. It is great!!!!! Works perfectly. Motorola i1. UPDATE.....totally useless now. Was my favorite app until last android update. Does not function. At all :(
Downgrade your phone you dumb bitches
I'm using ICS and it works just fine for me.
Was one of those little apps that does one specific thing well - at least on KitKat it did. Now it's broken in Lollipop. Really too bad. I haven't uninstalled yet 'cause I'm hoping it'll get fixed.
(Update: Is not compatible with Android 5.0 Lollipop) This app works like a charm on my Moto X+1. You can select which apps you want your phone to stay awake for plus set the illumination the apps will have while they're open (full or minimal). Keepscreen only runs when the app(s) you've selected are fullscreen. Minimize those apps and Keepscreen stops, bring them back up and Keepscreen starts again. A brief notification at the top of the screen can inform you of each action. It's perfect for apps like Spotify and Maps.when used while driving. Highly recommend it!
Update for lollypop never came. It will not work on lollypop on Nexus 5.
But it needs a setting to start on reboot or power cycle, run as a service does not work on Jelly Bean.
App does not start automatically after I restart my device, add this feature
I'm using ICS and it works just fine for me.
My gf lives a county over from me (were 12) so i sleep with a picture of her every night and this app keeps her lit like she lights my life
Easy to select which apps you want to keep the backlight on. A notification then shows when the app opens if it's set for the light to stay on. Importantly, it saves the settings and restarts after a re-boot. Just set it and forget it.
It keeps the screen unlocked, but doesn't change luminosity (screen brightness) like it says it will.
Working well for me on Captivate Glide with ICS and HTC Vivid with ICS.
The best screen keeper i've used, and i've used many!
Works, but service keeps dying and never autostarts on boot. Galaxy Nexus MIUI V4 2.8.24 (jelly bean)

I installed this in the hope it would stop my screen going off during calls. There is the option to select the dialer, but it makes no difference, the screen still times out as normal.
