La tinnitus o acufenos son un fenómeno perceptivo que consiste en notar golpes o sonidos en el oído, que no proceden de ninguna fuente externa. Pueden ser provocados por gran número de causas, generalmente traumáticas, ser producto de un síntoma de taponamiento de los oídos o de síndrome de Meniere. También pueden ser causados por situaciones de estrés por estudios, trabajo, entorno familiar, económico, social o exposición a ruido ambiental mayor a 90 dB generando traumas acústicos.
