Tin Cans Recycled Ideas

Have you ever thought about using Tin Cans in candle making? The thought never crossed my mind until I read a ezine on crafting, and the author mentioned recycling items around the home in your crafting projects. Then the thought hit me like a ton of bricks. Why not use Tin Cans as candle holders, molds, hurricane candle holders etc.

The list could go on and on. I can hear your mind working now. Thinking of ways to use Tins in your candle projects. Here are a few ideas, use the small tin cans the 3oz kind, as votive candle holders. You can paint and decorate them for the seasons or to mach the décor of your home.
You can also use the soup type cans as a pillar candle mold. Drill a hole in the bottom to insert the wick (like regular molds) and pour your candle as you would any other candle.
How about those 13oz coffee can? You can use them as a hurricane candle holder. Again decorate the can to your desire. You can also drill holes our cut out parts of the can to make it more decorative.
Here is a tip: create or get a pattern you like a copy it onto a piece of paper the affix it to the can and use a drill or better yet a dermal tool to get out the pattern. If you decide to do this here is another tip: prior to cutting out your pattern fill the can with water and freeze it. The ice will give the can support during your cutting out process and you will be less likely to bend or damage the can.
Another idea if you are going to cut out areas of a can is to fill the can with your wax mixture prior to cutting out your design, Be careful with this process because the wax is not as supportive as ice would be.
How about putting a flower patters on the can and drilling holes a little smaller that those half round glass beads and gulling the on the outside of the can over the holes and putting a candle inside the can. You may be surprised at the effect you can get.
