Route Runner for Android
Love this app because i dont actually bring my phone with me on runs and its nice to know how far i actually went. Also, whoever made this, it sort of sucks that you cant do more than 8 checkpoints. I know its not ur fault, its google maps', but maybe you could email google or something?
So I went on a run, took a break but kept moving. It probably got within a couple inches of the 20ft circle that I walked in to stay moving. Thoroughly impressed!
This app is great if you just want to click "go" and have it track your running. It has a nice, quick checkpoint readout that is customizable. But, you can't select different sports (running, biking, walking) nor aggregate stats by category, which is a cool feature of some other apps...that helps me gauge my progress a little better when I'm trying to improve my fitness.
Love this App, but only allows 8 Waypoints, which makes longish and fairly complex routes difficult to plan, as lots of Waypoints are needed to pick specific route as app tries to pick the most efficient route, not necessarily the one I want. I.e. on a canal route app will try to take quickest route by leaving canal so waypoints are needed to get around this. Otherwise a brilliant easy to use app. Edit: still love the premise of this app, very useful and very difficult to find anything similar... But I've had to lower the rating....recently noticed it's become quite buggy & often crashes during saving of routes. creating corrupted files which can't be opened or deleted without deleting all files...working around these bugs is frustrating but still doable and still a good app.
I tried for over 20 minutes to create a simple route no turns the route kept double back finally got so sick of deleting and redoing the route I gave up
Very good does just what I needed to manually create a walking route. Only negative is the 8 way point limit. If you are planning a route through a suburban neighborhood this is problematic.
Can not make a new route without it making its own start and finish
Terrible app. For short distances it's decent but it underestimated the distance of my last run by 2 miles.
I was looking for an app that can generate random routes, to give me some ready variations for walking routes to keep my (almost) daily hikes interesting. This does exactly that, so I'm very happy with it. Also, the developer responded incredibly quickly to my questions and gave friendly and clear explanations. Perfect.
This is a very handy app if you need to map out your run in a strange area during a trip. You can map it in advance, save it, and follow it. I love it. Quick & full support.
Which is great because I don't know the area. Also gives directions while running. Nice to add options would be different types of circuits because some of them are basically run here and back.
Fantastic! User interface is smooth, fast and easy to use + the app features a little useful tutorial. I hope they will increment the number of maximum route points, which is 8 + 2 (start and finish) at the moment. Good job!
Good app to create, monitor and record your daily activities. You can share your workouts (if you choose), so it would be great as a means, forworkout partners, seperated by time or distance to track and motivate one another. The one short coming is it's not as intuitive as I think it could be, but the pop up instructions resolve this, so pay attention to those pop up instructions.
I've been looking for an app like this. You put in a few waypoints, and it snaps your root to the street map. Couple of "would be nice" features: 1, the route color is a very light blue, hard too see. Allow me to change its color. 2, allow me to designate a route to be "offroad" for trail running, thus don't snap the route to the road. 3, the auto route is kinda lacking. I hate uturns when I'm running. And I can devise routes of a certain distance where the autoroute can't. But overall, great app!
Overall it's good. Plus side is I can see distance I want to run, and it enables creativity and inspiration for running. Downside is the user interface is a little awkward, and it auto-routes you back to starting point. A good feature if able to switch on or off, but I don't think you can.
Needs an undo button. Very inconvenient to have to spend first 5 minutes gradually moving start and finish positions to right place on the map, why not just let me put them there in the first place? 8 markers nowhere near enough.
Does what it says it does. Please add compatibility for 100km marathons I do not mind loading screens. Also a bit more work for the route generation to not have so many dead ends. Checkpoints are also annoying as they are always in buildings but not to bothersome. I live in Canada.
This is a truly great app. Easy to use, accurate, and I love the feedbacks regarding my distance and speed while I'm running!!That's everything I was looking for. And, bonus points here, it seems that the developer actually cares and listens to feedbacks. :) Good job!
Nice app, helps you plan a route. Would be even better if you could use a few more markers. It makes assumptions about where you want to go.
Hasn't failed me at all. Wish I could change the color to a darker tint due to not wanting to be a glowing object at night.
Only 8 check points but pretty good to get close to mapping AND being able to save/export & import. Bike trails are rarely shortest so you have to use chk pts to get a trail route.
This is really straightforward and exactly what I was looking for. However, is there a way to make routes and save them in a list? It would be cool to make the routes in advance for several walks all at once, and then just open the app and select which one I want to do that day.
I like how easy it is to use. The maps needs to be updated because where I live there is a main road and it is not on the map. Why is there a limited amount to route makers would love it more if there were more. Over all good love it to be able to plan my runs and see how long there are.
You cant map out a run, its keeps joining up the route. Pants
So flipping complicated, it doesn't tell you how to find your planed and saved routes. You plan your route and save it and do you think you can find it again. NO!
Rubbish for calculating the distance covered it thinks I did 6.6k when the route is actually 2k! Disappointed and it's naff at calculating off road routes.
Only aloud 8 checkpoints so can't make a long route very poor app
I have tried a lot of running apps and this one is my favourite by far.I Love the activity run. I miss a timer, if I want to run a fixed time I have to use a different one.
Route color needs to be darker. Would be better if you could draw the route rather then have limited turning points.
Just started running again after not doing so for years. This app has been a good running assistant and is simple to use. I would recommend for anyone looking to train or just run for fun.
Downloaded app strictly for random route generation when traveling. The random route is worthless. Biased to take the user down busy streets, into courts, and does not do something as simple as plotting a round-trip. Does somebody really want to plot a 4 mile linear run leaving them 3.5 miles from start once they're done? That's lacking common sense and effort on the designer's part. Good idea though.
1.Route Export feature missing 2.Route highlights need to be bolder 3.An upgrade on UI will look good
I was a bit disappointed work some other apps as most now require you to use a device to measure a distance. This allowed me to measure in the map and then plan my route. I like it a lot.
It was just very complicated and not very user friendly. I feel that the actual route planner was frustrating to use and I only say all this because I have another app that simplifies everything and does all the work for the user so my main focus can actually be my run, time, distance.
Great app but would like more points with free version
Edited to respond. I should not have to keep dragging around the finish in order to calculate checkpoints. And when I do drag it around, the route keeps adjusting to a route that I don't want. I want to go staight, it makes me go around 3 blocks just to cross an intersection to get to the biking trail. No. This is not a usable app.
Helps me to pick an ideal running route based on distance.
Works well to plan new routes before running them
Was excellent to use as a new runner. I could map out my runs and add a half km a time. Always had a route tracked so no cheating!

I have been looking for an app like this for ages because I'm one of those people who need to know how far or where I'm running so that the distance matters. Only thing is you have 8 points and I am training for a half marathon so if your looking for close runs this is it. Other then that great app.
