THX tune-up for Android
It does a good job of leading one through and explaining the steps of properly adjusting the picture and sound of your television according to THX standards; which are high. The filtered color adjustments using ones smartphone camera takes the guess work out of calibrating color. It even takes into account what brand and type of equipment. I wish they made one for musical stereo EQ adjustment.
Worked great for me using Chromecast. Just make sure you cast through the app and not Android itself. A little wonky: I had to restart narration during procedures because it didn't begin on its own. Also had to restart a couple times. My TV's picture definitely improved after using this app. Nexus 6P running 7.1.1
I screen mirrored and had the same problem none of the images would go full screen. And for the audio test only had options for 5.1 and the system wouldn't output sound on my rear speakers even though they currently work great. Altogether useless app in my book
Casting works. The introduction video on my TV presented very well and all the details were present. Switch to the actual calibration process and the pictures / patterns used must be different because no matter what I changed the screen would not show what they wanted it to. Tried with nexus 6 and two different TV's one was Vizio E40 D0 and the other a Vizio M55 D0. Both of these sets rate pretty well for their respective price. So maybe it presents better with some sets versus others.
Pretty useless. I thought that all the other Reviews were bad because they tried to Mira cast, Mira cast is limited to 720, and that's it, but chrome cast does 4K. Well this app is 2 years old and does not know how to use chrome cast correctly either. Wtf is the point of playing 2.0 the sounds on a mobile phone? Even when it is casting to the AVR?
Excellent app for configuring the best color, brightness and contrast. Only drawback is that you need a direct link to mirror the app on your TV. But it's expected as this app uses a red and yellow filter on your camera to configure color and tint.
This app worked as advertised allowing me to calibrate my Panasonic HDTV. The color and tint adjustments using the camera really allow pinpoint adjustments to bring out the flesh tones. One unadvertised feature is that it worked with Miracast on my Panasonic TV and Sony Android phone. It does not need Chromecast as I thought.
Those who gave it less than a 5 star, are either failed to connect their device or couldn't understand the app. It's a great app to calibrate you TV and other device.
Use to use this tool all the time. With latest version release on a Samsung S7 Edge, the images don't go fill screen, so I can't use them for adjustments. From five to one just that quick. Come on THX?!
Great idea, poor implementation. You have to have your device's language set to English. Otherwise it crashed on launch.
Worked once then updated now keeps crashing I'm really disappointed if fixed ill give better star rating
Just shows a blank screen on my Samsung Galaxy S7. Shame, I really wanted to use this to calibrate my home entertainment system...
The camera on my phone just did the infinite affect. Could not see or pick up the white border around the color square.
Just kept getting stuck and crashing making this app unusable. Shame really
Although it does not seemfully use and play newer Deep Notes, the newest of which releasing later this year being the first in THX-11388x5034yP40F+241800x106881yH13C mode, it is still okay.
I am holding on to mine until OLED prices fall more. I have it pretty well tuned and the picture is better than a panel except OLED(yes, it is an HD widescreen model). I was curious if this app could get it even a little closer to perfect. The answer is no because you excluded that screen type.
I was waiting for chromecast support and I'm very happy that is finally here
Audio didn't work well with chromecast ultra. Couldn't get surround to work. Works in movies though
Great resource. Enabled me to set up our new UHD TV (and check the AV 5.1) via my Nexus 6P and Chromecast. Thank you.
App crashes on lollipop (Android 6.0)
Doesn't recognise screen share. Loose
How about making this a Android TV App so it can be useful. Chromecast for Bravia TV's Can't Cast and Adjust Picture at the same time due to switch of input
Works perfectly with my Nexus 7 and Chromecast. Really improved my Samsung TVs picture. Also confirmed my 5.1 system was working correctly.
Seems to completely useless with Chromecast.
I like the results I achieved using this app. Fine tuned my picture using the app from the AV forum,
Good app, like it.
Absolutely Crap
Crashes consistently on nexus 6p
Easiest way to get color calibration done. Works well with Chromecast.
Quick and simple, works well for basic calibration.
Would be great if it worked with a Roku to cast.
For those of you that say there is no Chromecast support: Download the Google Cast app and mirror your display. This app actually handles itself as if it was designed for casting by casting the images to your display while leaving controls and info on your phone. I used the app to achieve calibration and then made small adjustments to meet my preferences.
Like title says. Only when I hit home does the screen change for a fraction of a second. Using Himedia H8 connected through HDMI cable to Onkyo TX-SR805. Which is 7.1 and not available from what I saw through my phone. TV is Aquos model LC-52SE94U.
This is a big step up on the visual side from the THX optimizer that comes with better quality DVDs and Blu-ray disks. There are very good reasons that casting is not supported. Unlike most casting apps where the tablet or phone is controlling and to an extent mirroring the rendered visual and audio...This app is acting as the renderer itself. You would no more connect your Blue Ray,TIVO & cable players, game console or whatever to the TV wirelessly, than you should the device running this app. It would be like trying to tune a piano remotely using a walkie talkie....speaking of which unless your tablet or phone are equipped with a 5.1 channel pcm thru digital coax or HDMI out, there is no point using this app for audio - Stick to the DVD version. Though if you *are* running android on a raspberry pi or similar, set up for 5.1 - it will be a LOT easier to run this than the THX audio optimiser clips on a DVD or blu-ray.
This app is a quick way to adjust some TV settings. It matters because a new TV can drive your eyes buggy with over-saturated colors, over-sharpened images, etc. Bad A/V sync will also drive you nuts. I wish this app had a feature to adjust that. This app works fine with Chromecast; no cable needed. The app does crash, but it didn't keep me from getting things adjusted.
Would be great, certainly worth while for the brightness and contrast test cards and instruction - although couldn't we just download the test cards? Like other samsung users thought, the app crashed when trying to access the Note4's camera for the colour calibration.
I think this is a well laid out app and easy to use, however I really would like to see some sort of chromecast like support. Im not sure if that could be done or not but I would pay for an app like this that used non HDMI syncing with the TV.
Didn't have an HDMI cable to connect to my TV and (to my surprise!) it let me go through the whole process (even the camera filter parts) with Android's Chromecast mirroring. Excellent job THX, my TV finally looks like it was supposed to!
This app used to be great. I used it several times on my S3, but ever since upgrading to the S7 Edge, the camera filter crashes every time. The app is now unusable.

With my S7 connected to my Roku via quick connect mirroring I could not get any pictures or patterns full screen so details were too small to make adjustments. Could not get the color and tint patterns to display on the tv while using the camera filter to make adjustments to either color or tint. Maybe it works using HDMI but I don't have an adapter to try it out. I really wanted this to work.
