Thinkware Dashcam Viewer for Android
Bought this thing because it was supposed to be one of the top dash cams on the market. It's garbage. If I had read these reviews before forking out the huge money for the f750 with rear camera, I never would have bought it. Tonight I removed the SD card to bring it into my house to view the videos. Why didn't I just view it on my phone via this piece of crap app? Because after randomly connecting when I got the camera a month ago, now it no longer connects at all. Absolute garbage. Refund please.
I feel bad for the people having issues with the app. Mine runs smoothly and no hitches so far.
for the 車道偏離技術, it doesn't work well (we expect it give out some warning signal when we asleep and close to the lane line) and the sound signal given out when lane changing or after lane changed even we set the highest sensititivy. for the 防碰撞前車技術, it work but not too satisfiy it. Now only give out sound signal when too close . ....but it really too close.... i want it can give out sound signal when the previous car is in front further even i set the highest sensitivity (just give me a higher sensitivity option...) as i think further high sensitivity can give me a further safe journey. Overall it was a very good product, but hope above can be improved. if there were any update, please let me update too. (yveswusii@gmail.com) Thanks!
Thinkware Dash Cam viewer always stopping. Ask if you want to report or ok. And good luck reaching or getting a response back for Thinkware. Or its the answer or they will tell you go to you tube, for the solution. Or your playing email tag. What a joke. Might as stick a crank handle on the dash cams and turn it might work better. WOW get a life. Biggest rip off I have ever seen.
WiFi has stopped connecting with my phone and I can't access video! It's just a pretty device hanging on my windshield!
App works fine on my old iPhone 6 but doesn't work on my one plus 3t. I can connect but cannot watch the recordings even if I download them. Running the latest oxygen os. It needs to work with this phone, serious fault..
Connecting to the dash cam with WiFi is almost impossible rendering the app virtually unusable.
Quick easy set up of the dashcam. Loads the videos and is categorized well in the menu.
Fix the dam WiFi issue
Will not concrete to my samsung j2 android tablet
Great for viewing the camera footage from my Thinkware Dash cam system.
Very quick to set up and catergorizes the videos really well.
Here's the deal... If you use your smartphone, you must have Data off in order to connect to wifi in the Dashcam. I'm not sure if this was done on purpose by Thinkware, but that is the only way to work it. So I suggest either doing that or using a secondary device or tablet to work the settings on this app. It works but bare these notes in mind when doing this. If you feel this won't work out, get the X550 by Thinkware as its the cam without the need for the app that delivers identical performance. Also, I suggest contacting Blackbox in order to get the proper help. They gave me the answer to this well known issue.
Works great so far. It would be 5 stars if it gave you the option to rotate the camera feed. I installed my rear camera upside down (would have been great to have any kind of indication on the camera for which way is up), and now my only option is to pay $15 for replacement tape ($5 for the tape, $10 for shipping) and reinstall it. This should be a simple feature in the app, but it's nowhere to be found. One weird quirk with the app that I've noticed: When you open the app before being connected to WiFi, the app redirects you to settings to choose the WiFi device. Once connected, there is no way to return to the app. When you click the phone's "back" button, it closes the app and goes to the home screen. The app is also not minimized in the multitasking menu, so it has to restart completely every time you select WiFi.
When you pay £280 for the camera you expect the software to work. I have an LGG3 mobile phone & the app constantly refuses to connect to the WiFi. Thinkware really do need to get this issue sorted. A great camera let down by a woefully inadequate app.
I've had a pair of F750's for two years and like them but it seems like recent updates of the app are dependent upon mxplayer, which spews ADVERTISEMENTS!!!!. Okay, lookit: I bought the ThinkWare product and don't want to see any hype for anyone else. What a cheap shot. New car will get a new cam but if the app doesn't change the brand surely will.
Good app with so much unrealised potential. Landscape mode missing. GPS coordinates not recorded in videos. No 2-CH playback mode. Not possible to select what voice commands to be muted (!). Unable to disable rear camera security LED. Not possible to assign camera with an IP in a local network. No asynchronous/background download of videos whilst in the app.
Acquired Thinkware f770 and was very pleased with the purchase. Connect failed with different devices. I am going ship back device to the seller but decided on the experiment. I found a solution in the mobile device exhibiting Aeroplane mode and then connect via the mobile devices.
After reading reviews I expected the usual half baked support app, but this is actually pretty good. Does exactly what is required without fuss. The link to mx player is a bit odd as they are only mp4 files (vlc would be fine) but aside from that no complaints.
Like the camera alot. Good amount of features. What i wish is if i could access my dash cam to check up on my car whenever i want to.. besides if i am in a different state or on airplane.
In the process of returning my thinkware 2 Ch. F770. Never even got to use it properly because the app keep giving me errors. I re-installed the app multiple times and it will barely let me connect to the dashcam. Worst of all, it keeps disconnecting me when I am connected or takes forever to connect. I can't deal with this. My blackvue was extremely easy to connect and I had no problems with it. You'd think a company as big as Thinkware would implement more R&D to help with their stabilizing their app but I guess not. I rather go with blackvue. While their cams are slightly inferior. Their app has less flaws and isn't as stressful to use compared to Thinkwares.
App works pretty much as expected except I do get some quirks when streaming the video and I want to jump around within the stream to see events at certain time segments. Other than that, no issues with connecting the app to the camera and no issues downloading the videos to my phone for offline viewing.
I purchased the blackvue 650s cloud version, then saw this and wanted the timelapse feature and better camera, happy with the F770 but it has so much potential, blackvue has so many features that I would love to see on thinkware, live streaming whilst recording, thumbnails on video view, built in video player with map view like the blackvue has instead of using 3rd party video app, cloud feature, I will give this 3 stars, could get 5 stars if blackvue features were incorporated into this app.
Why oh why does the app not support landscape mode for all views? Main view - fixed at portrait, camera setup view - supports landscape. Please add in ability for app to be run entirely in landscape mode, such a small but useable change.
Would be great if not connection issues causing a pain. Could do with live view in recording mode also.
Absolut waste of time and money....both The camera and app belong in the trash can. Nothing works properly. Plug and cry interface. Minus 100.
All of the sudden i cannot stream videos any more, mx player keep showing message "sw decoder is not supported" , i have tried to change the codecs manualy but with no luck, thinkware app team can you get back
The app works ok. Is kind of buggy. Could be my phone settings but... And i cant cange the date stamp on videos (for court purposes). Tried with computer app as well. New to me but so far dificult to set up my camera.
Works but needs improving. Features are limited. Camera is excellent app is poor. Shame really
This app shuts down when you try to view video clips
Have device feature so that it will attach to a Hotspot or router and obtain a local ip address.
Doesn't work on my s6 Edge.
Works great no issues. Great camera and software
Why use Wi-Fi ??? Bluetooth would be soooooo much better
Always crashes
This app does what it's meant to, it's just a shame you can't keep the WiFi switched on permanently on the dash cam itself. You have to keep going back to your car, switching the ignition on, waiting for the camera to boot and then press the WiFi button to use the app. NOTE - If your phone connection is continually being terminated when you try to stream videos on the Android app, it's probably because you're in Power Saving Mode. Switch this off and all is fine.
After pressing the wi-fi button on the f750 camera and is connected, I then touch the 'back' symbol on my S2 smartphone and then touch the installed Thinkware app to connect with the camera, it doesn't connect. It has two buttons that say Cancel and Forget, instead of showing the cameras fearures. It's not that good. It worked ok with my previous f750 camera but the camera developed faults after 3 months and had to be replaced under warranty. The new camera, and the app do not recognize each other.
Does not connect smoothly to Android devices as well as it does with Apple iPhone. Plus now you have to download an extra app (MX player) just to see videos. Do not buy this junk! I've had it for one year now, so I know all the pros and cons and this thing have more cons than anything.
Giving it 5 because of the people in other reviews who give 1 stars because they are not very bright and don't know how to use a simple dash cam. App works fine, can use a bit of polish, but nowhere close to a one star.

Using Samsung S7 with x350. Downloading videos is a little slow but reasonable. Streaming a video to my phone will generally buffer a bit at the start and you can't really fast forward through the video as it freezes up. (the video, not the app) I suspect these are hardware limitations of the dashcam. Probably around a minute to download each 81mb file which is one minute of recording.
