About IISc Mobile

This is an unofficial application to use for reading IISc Broadcasts.

Users can now view the campus broadcast mails from their mobiles and set reminders or add-to-calendar their favourite talks right from within the application.

This app also features a simple tag-based person-finder.

Further extensions including automatic tagging, social sharing, auto-suggest, and other features will be added in the future versions.

We would like to thank the IISc administration for giving us the opportunity and the resources to develop this app as part of our co-curricular activity at IISc.

To start with, the app comes as much needed respite for getting to know about various events in and around IISc. Kudos to the team! I will not list the pros, because that is for everyone to see. I will list a bunch of improvements I feel will make the app even more desirable: 1. Sorting of news items: As of now the newsfeed is like a stack (sorted on basis of date of upload, with latest on top). A few more custom sorts must be made available, especially sorted by type (Misc/Talk/Seminar etc) and by date of event (both ascending and descending). 2. Social Attending: If I like an event, I must be able to hit a "I will attend" or a "I may attend" and interact with other like-minded people with similar responses. It'll help garner hype and encourage more people to talk about both the event, and the app. 3. Auto-refresh on scrolling up: Manual refresh buttons are quite a pain these days. Instead, an auto-refresh feature upon scrolling upwards upon reaching the top of page (similar to that we see on most Zynga multiplayer games) would make using the app a lot easier. 4. UI: Minimalism is awesome. So I will not request any changes in that department. Just a little streamlining will do.

Nice very clean app ..

At the moment, the app is only barely okay-ish, without too much of a point: integration with the Calendar app would change that; if one could export events from the app as appointments in the Calendar, that would be a killer feature.
