I can't even tell if I like the story because I can't turn the page. When I did read ahead on my laptop, the app took me ahead further than I'd read...after I had to sign in AGAIN on the app. Julian Fellowes, please hire another company to remake this app. This is torture.

The app doesn't work! There is no way to mark your place if you stop reading or listening. The fast forward on the audio doesn't work either. I have yet to be able to even READ all the chapters let alone listen to any part of them. The story is okay, but nothing more than a simple historical romance.

Won't download episodes, audio contr old do not work, doesn't remember login. A complete disaster!

An ungainly app. Completely lackluster customer service. A disappointment to me and to the friend who thoughtfully gave it as a gift.

I love the idea of weekly releasing and I am into the novel, my issue is not only the app, but also the website set up. Neither remembered where in a chapter I was, the app rarely updated the available chapters for several days after a new chapter was available, and it was a pain to navagate back to where I was in the chapter.

Brilliant story! Can't wait for Thursdays - to read the next episode.

It would not let me log into my paid for account so I can't read the book.

No tech issues for me – guess they’ve been ironed out now. I am thoroughly enjoying the ‘novel’ way this novel is being delivered in weekly hour-long episodes; I guess it’s aimed at the podcast generation. The story is familiar Julian Fellowes Downton/Upstairs Downstairs territory, thoroughly researched, and the bonus features add depth to the historical context. It’s versatile too. I don’t have a tablet so I listen to the audio via my smartphone plugged into speakers and then catch up with the episode’s many bonus features later via laptop. Juliet Stevenson’s narration is superb and engaging; she creates both male and female characters exactly as I would expect to hear them. Looking forward to Episode 6 today!

It looks like they fixed the having to log in every time but episodes still not released on the day they are supposed to be released and when you listen to audio it doesn't save your place, just goes back to the beginning. Also, couldn't buy on the app. Had to buy on the website, which even there was difficult. Really hard to understand why such an incompetent technical experience. However, I love the idea, especially the added content. I just hope this really bad app doesn't turn people off to the concept.

This app has too many problems. It distacts from the story. No bookmarking so you have to flip pages until you remember where you left off. Same with audio. We paid for this app. It wasnt free. Please get it together.

by D####:

Please make the app more user friendly! I have to sign in every time and it won't hold my place where I have left off reading. I want to continue with the next installments but not sure I have the patience for the app. I do love the audio option.

Great story, horrible app. It tried to do be innovative but it's failed on so many levels. Have to constantly sign in. Got an email saying the next episodes are available or buy the whole story. App won't let me purchase. Had to go to the website and buy thru google play store. Won't load in the app at all. Don't waste your time with the app, just go thru the website. This really had potential, so disappointed.

This could be a great concept, but the app itself is a huge barrier. The need to log in each time is cumbersome but the lack of a bookmark feature makes it quite difficult to use, having to start over each time is a waste of time. The extra features would be great if you could see them without a magnifying glass. Hope these "glitches" can be fixed as I'd like to read the rest but at this point it's not worth the frustration.

The story becomes more intriguing as it unfolds! I'm listening on my iPhone as I follow along on my tablet and I'm completely enthralled! I love the fun bonus material, the YouTube videos...! True, the app-builders are learning right along with us, and there are quirks, but the wrinkles will soon be ironed-out. One thing I'd change is the narrator--making young men sound old, and older women sound like men.... I suggest a male and female narrator so the voices match the characters better.

I like the the story so far, but the app constantly doesn't recognize my email, has errors when I try to load an episode and is lag-ey

B70%
by B####:

The story is great, but the app is terribly frustrating. It doesn't remember my login, nor does it remember my place in the story. The page turns are laggy, I have to reset my font size every time I open the app, and there are no color controls or "night mode" like most e-readers. The supplementary material is neat, but even on my 7" tablet (Nexus 7) the image/reading area is less than an inch tall and hard to control. There is so much promising content here, but the presentation is rubbish.

D70%
by D####:

Page turning close to being unresponsive...very annoying. Release dates passed for 2 episodes without any word on delay.

I want to be perfectly clear: my rating here is *NOT* about the story, which is delightful. The app, however, is a train-wreck. If the interface I'm seeing were coming through a browser on a PC, I'd say it reflected the sensibilities of a mainstream website circa 1999 or so. But on a smartphone in 2016, it's laughable. Requiring a username and password at the start of each reading session, bonus features including images that are the sizes of postage stamps on my phone's 6in screen (and not zoomable!) Feh!

It should tell you straight out the first chapter is free and you pay for the rest. Like everyone else don't like that I have to log in every time. Guess I won't be reading the rest.

If you aren't going to include the most basic functions such as save and book mark on the audio version, don't bother making it. Having to sign in every time is cumbersome. Half the time I get an error message. Wont be finishing the free chapter and will not be purchasing this content unless offered through a reputable audio or reader channel.

Lousy app! Takes me all over the place! I just want to READ it for gosh almighty sake! Of course it might just be me. Sorry, Julian, put it on Kindle

Paid for this story and can't access it! This after all the hype is going to kill the book
