About Bayes Theorem

Do you have cancer? Should you dial 911? Does he/she like you?

Get answers to tough questions with Bayes Theorem, an app built around the most important law of probability theory. First introduced in the 18th century, Bayes Theorem is used today in everything from spam detection to cancer diagnosis. This app allows you to unlock the potential of this centuries-old theorem and answer everyday questions, including:

· Is he/she taking drugs?
· Does he like me?
· Am I going to pass this math test?
· Does she like the Beach Boys?

Bayes Theorem is highly versatile. Besides the questions mentioned above, you can also develop your own question and have it answered within the app.

Get your questions answered. With math.

How does Bayes Theorem work?

Here's an example: Bob is randomly chosen and tested for a disease that affects 1% of the population. Bob tests positive - and the test is accurate 95% of the time. What is the probability that Bob has the disease?

Surprisingly enough, the answer is not 95%.

The probability, as calculated using Bayes Theorem, is actually 16%. This is because it's so unlikely for Bob to have the disease - it only affects 1% of the population. It's more likely for Bob to not have the disease and test positive than it is for Bob to have the disease and test positive.

Events assigned with a low probability are still possible. Don't work. Note 5

I downloaded this app but it won't open. Don't waste your time with this app. I would've given it a negative rating but the option does not exist.

Pretty useless beyond an introduction to the topic because it doesn't save anything you do

Nice thought. Slider don't move. No calculations.

Android App stopped working, sliders don't slide. This was the best among them when it worked, and could be again. Allows you to create your own scenarios, explains a bit better than the others do, too. Five stars when it's up and running. I reinstalled, same issue remains.

I found this app helpful in helping me find answers to my relationship problems.

Please don't have forms clear when you look at examples and go back. Also include some visuals of the therom and better laymen terms and give more examples in depth

X70%
by X####:

This app could be handier if I could enter probabilities between 0 and 0.01, or between 0.99 and 1. Some priors are quite low indeed, as are some false positive rates.

C70%

Been looking for this for ages. Please let me save queries with a label, and also let me use a previous calculation as a new probability base and then it's perfect

I'd never heard of the Bayes Theorum before but this was very interesting! Worked flawlessly and after a little time I figured out easily how to use it! The only thing that I'd suggest is having stats somewhere on the app or a website or something where you can find the stats, because most people (I assume) don't know many stats off the top of their head. Cool app!

This is a very nice way of introducing Bayes Theorem to people. Although it is not so intuitive to use (the concept of false positive might appear challenging at first), the examples are well-written and help clarify the ideas. 5/5! :)

Hello! The app introduce the theorem with simple words.. and examples, many thanks. What I like most, is that it allows to see the math in action by moving sliders..!! But also.. it has a very good design... And for free, I must say thank you very much :-)
