This will scan every time. Most food items are included in their database . I'd say maybe 10% to 15% of the food items I scanned are not recognized by the app. It must be noted also that they do not take into account cross-contamination. For instance Safeway pickles might come back gluten free but I won't buy Safeway brand again because I have been glutened through cross contamination from them in the past. I know Mt Olive is gluten free so I stick to that brand. So I don't rely on the results this app gives me alone. I also use Gluten-Free Grocery Shopping Guide, and Celiac Disease: Safe/Unsafe Food List and Essential Information On Living With A Gluten Free Diet, books I carry with me whenever I go shopping. So you gotta use your brain. But I do like this app and will give it 5 stars. I think $10 for 3 years is a pretty good deal.
