About LifeMeter (Free)

This is the free version of LifeMeter. Please read everything below for instructions and important notes*.

We at The Food Sucks are of the opinion that notions of battery life do not have to be measured with grim clinical concern. It should be FUN. Even nostalgic! Introducing LifeMeter, a widget that draws inspiration from decades of classic gaming fun and brings it to your Android device to enjoy. It takes the age-old iconic digital heart symbolizing LIFE and applies that feature to your Android device's battery. We also didn't merely draw inspiration from the meters of classic 8-bit games like Legend of Zelda and Metroid, we wanted to demonstrate that LifeMeter is capable of a modern styling too, and what better example than the health bar from a game like Skyrim!***

To make your experience special we made it *highly* configurable, because personalizing is fun and rewarding. Just take a look at the gallery to see not only the variety of meters offered, but how you can customize most of them to your heart's content! The widgets currently comes in 1x1 and 2x1 sizes, and even offers unique meters exclusive to each size to make your experience a little more fun and interesting. Heart widgets can be tweaked; rows/columns can be adjusted, scale them if you feel they might be too big. You can align them within the widget's frame (top, lower right, center, etc). You can configure a LifeMeter widget to launch an app when tapped, or show some detailed battery info instead. You can adjust how often updates happen - from once a minute to as little as once an hour if you want to conserve battery life - though LifeMeter does not use a persistent service; When the phone goes into sleep mode, no updates are issued to your widget, preserving battery health.

*Do not force the install to your SD Card, install it to internal memory only!

**If you use a TASK KILLER (you shouldn't) like ATK, STK, ETK, etc, you MUST configure it to *EXEMPT*, or else it will terminate the process and your widget will appear to be stuck/not updating!

We've tested extensively on multiple devices with great results. Should your device have any trouble with it, we'll do our best to address the issues, just contact us.

We'd like to add even more meters in future updates, and we're open to suggestions - send us an email!

**Some meters are available only in the full version.

TO PLACE A LIFEMETER WIDGET ON YOUR HOME SCREEN (Android 4.0+, ICS+):

* Please note, at the moment (08/2012) there is a bug with *Jellybean* that may require you to REBOOT your device to install widgets from a newly installed app. You'd only need to do this once.

1. Navigate to your APP Drawer. (It may be an icon of 6 little dots or squares, on your home screen)
2. Select the "WIDGETS" tab.
3. Locate LifeMeter 1x1 or 2x1 - you may have to swipe side to side if your list is large.
4. *Long-press* one of the LifeMeter widgets until your Home Screen appears, then let go.
5. Configure the hell out of your supercool new widget.
6. Show your friends and family!

It says that the options for sizes are supposed to be 1x1 and 1x2, but my options are 1x2 vertically and 2x2, both of which look out of place and pretty bad. It seems that there is just a second row added on to the options it's supposed to have. Not sure what I'm doing wrong, a solution would be appreciated.

I can't see this having any real use as the battery meter and percentage remaining are always displayed in the top bar of almost every phone. Maybe if you could replace that icon with these or something, I don't know, just seems pointless but the details like battery temp are nice I can say that.

Made me wanna run out and buy the Zelda games (Ocarina of time and Majoras Mask) plus the newest Wii ones. Love it.

I'm indifferent as of right now. But, I DO agree that it should have the "low life" sound. AND! Here's a neat idea: make it so it can replace the normal battery meter of a person's device if they choose. That way, it won't have to be so much of a widget. It'll be more authentic like that. And, I know free apps are usually for testing the waters for a fuller version, but, there ARE people who can't buy apps like they are going out of style. I'm one of them. So, I and many others find it VERY UNFAIR to find a free, cute, and nifty app for a favorite fandom, only to find out it only has two or three things it can do and everything else is indefinitely locked. Please keep this in mind when making apps.

I just downloaded it and it said I had used all of the time thing up! Fix this and I'll rate at least 4 stars.

I really like this because instead of just estimating how much battery life I have I can just look at this. Tip to devs: For the hearts I think you should make a quarter heart to make it more realistic

Maybe you could add a Pokemon health bar? I think that's simple right? :P Well i dont make apps so its up to you..... I like pokemon.

M70%

A 4 x 1 option. Only thing I would want.

Really cool and its very nice looking with most of the life bars some go with certain wallpapers and others don't but I really like it :-)

I'm a huge fan of Metroid, so I love this widget, it works perfectly. What about a Metroid clock next? ;)

I used the free version to check it out, now I intend to buy it outright and give that $1.99 in support. 2 bucks isn't a whole lot but im sure every little bit helps. Love to see what you guys do with future updates and widgets.

So the app is great. Works well, wish it had sound. But the truth about it, I've having panic attacks when my battery drops down below 2 hearts. I can't stand to see it that low and know only one or two good hits from a likelike would totally wreck me.

The space around it doesn't need to be so large. It takes up unnecessary room.

I was confused at first but as soon as looked at the instructions again for a fifth time I got it and it works perfectly.

This app is great! The only proproblem is it doesn't look right on my Galaxy screen. Also, the life bar itself won't go past 5 each row. Any chance of more widget sizes to fix this? (Or maybe a solution? )
