Tge peoppe that work over at thr chive are amazing people. They eork harf amd do amazing things for people in need as well as hrlp people socialise. Great content anf idea's. The ads will ruin it all for you. Tgey wil jump up and ruin the experience that used to be the chive. Tge afds pop up way too often ehile scrolling. If you can gandle ad's then you eill love this place.

The content is always great, but the app design and functionality are poor. Constant crashes, usually have to try opening twice. The comments section needs work. If you try to view a profile or picture from page 8 of the comments, it puts you right back to the beginning when you go back. Picture galleries in full screen don't have numbers. Disabled notifications and they come anyway. 2 stars because its a rating on the app, not the content. If you're still on the old version, stay there. I'd go back if I could.

Bugs and crashing needs to be fixed. I have sent in several reports but still nothing... I love this app and it brings me great joy most of the time; however when I get a push notification and actually want to read or view the article, the app says the post does not exist, then when I go to try and search for it the app crashes. If this was fixed I would have given this a 5 star rating.

In order to access DAR, DMA, and certain other categories, you will probably need to create an account. Tried multiple times without one, and wouldn't you know that as soon as I made an account, every category worked fine? Here, Chive, you kept bugging me to rate your app, now I have. Update- in addition, with the latest update, they have removed all save functionality. Good job guys. Good job.

Just when it seems that they fix one thing another one pops up. Content is great but what's the point of favoriting a post when it doesn't save? Also would be nice if you could tell which posts you gave a thumbs up to so you don't revisit old ones. Fame/fortune is finally getting to the Chive. Nice try guys.

The Chive has an amazing community and people. Seems like their website and app are a little below par. Only from a useability standpoint Content remains awesome, just a bit hard to access. For someone who saves lots of pictures like I do, this newest update makes it particularly difficult. You have to switch a category to tile view, then select an individual picture to save. All in all: keep up what you're doing Chive! You guys are great. Maybe just put a bit more ease of use into the technical side of things. Thanks!

Advertisement is understandable, however, vet your advertisers and "hostage" candy crush ad videos are a buzz kill. The app has some serious performance issues with the phone. Also, haven't seen the "standard" albums on the app in a long time, and lots of albums contain reused material. Love what the organization stands for, just looking for that same originality that was there in the beginning.

The chive is an amazing community to have been part of for several years now, and it's grown quite a lot. However, The older app version was better. The new one seems weird, is harder to control touch features, and I have no idea when a gallery will end. Opening the sub functions require me to hold the screen, but if I hold for too little a time, something else happens. Oh, and it still crashes

All in all pretty good. Not at all a fan of the video ads though, very intrusive. Also the app performance really needs significant improvements; the old format performed better. If you are seeing crash on startup, uninstall and reinstall works around it. Very surprised it hasn't been fixed much more quickly.

Update #2 4/19/17: Yay, it only crashes once when opening! At least it's not when I'm halfway through a gallery. Update 1/28/17: still freezes and crashes. Once upon a time this app was as close to perfect as they come. But over the last year it seems that every update is buggy af. Newest version freezes and closes Every. Damned. Time. So tired of it.

The more they update the worse it becomes. No more DAR OR DMA current content, even if you search for it, it dosent exist. It does no good to email them, they have gotten to big to rich to care anymore. Maybe someday they will wake up and listen to the people that have made them what they are. Until they make some corrections I give them a A+ in not giving a F***!!!!

All of a sudden now I can no longer long press on a pic and save it, no menu pops up at all. Before that half the time when trying to download a pic it wouldn't save it at all and I'd have to do it several times. App looks great but the old version had way better functionality.

The app is absolutely riddled with technical issues which makes is very annoying to use. The content is hit or miss and usually something you've seen before if you use Reddit. There is also a ton really obvious and cringeworthy grammar of spelling mistakes and it seems like there's not a whole lot of editing or reviewing going on. I do like the fact that it's for a good cause. Overall the app feels unprofessional and it's frustrating to try to use, you're better off with Reddit if you're looking for content anyways.

so, it used to be that when i scrolled through the galleries of pictures you guys stole from reddit, i could long press on a picture you stole. this would allow me to steal from you, the picture you stole from reddit. now thanks to a seemingly useless update, in order for me to steal from you what you stole from reddit, there is a new process. while scrolling through the gallery i have to back scroll slightly, choose the multi view option for the gallery, scroll through that again, select the stolen image i want, and then long press on the stolen image i would like to steal. i know it seams like a long process to steal stolen items, but it makes me appreciate stealing those stolen images that much more.

Every once in a while I come back hoping they've gone back to how it was a couple of years ago. But no - still classless, tasteless & no creativity. Whoever redesigned this site is a low-class loser. Even if you find a photo you like you can't save it to your gallery. - 5☆

First off, I fricking love Chive, and the app is amazing. I am only giving 3 stars due to the stupid add that takes half of the screen! Its kinda hard to fully enjoy the app when there is an app that is invisibly there and doesnt allow me to keep scrolling.

Your app is essentially a virus. Causes battery to drain rapidly when not in use. Have to force stop when done. Can no longer long press to save. Can't up or down vote a gallery. Video ads in the middle of a gallery that you scroll through?! You guys have gotten lazy and greedy and clearly have forgotten about the people that got you to where you're at.

Used to work flawlessly. Now I get constant crashes trying to access the app from notifications. More importantly, the sexy photos are nowhere to be found. Lastly this app just sits in my Play Store app list, refusing to update. It keeps giving me error messages that it won't update. I have a LG V20 on AT&T.

theCHIVE seems to work well enough for me (though the Google Play Store reviews would suggest that this is not the case for most users), but if I'm not mistaken, there seems to be a lot of content missing... For example, I cannot find the "Hotness" category at all and even direct searches fail to find posts relating to hot women that are shown on the website! This application is a great start, but more work is needed...

Aaaaand I still hate the changes. And it freezes up almost every single time I'm on. Just curious, when are you changing it back? 9 out of 10 reviews I read about the changes are very negative. Seems like a no-brainer. Months later and still so much wrong with the app. Who do we need to reach to get the desired result??.......change back to the old format. And eff is with the video advertisements that pop up taking up a third of the screen and won't swipe away!!!!!? People are tired of being forced to watch commercials

Ok here it always says when i launch/reinstall "UNFORTUNATELY CHIVE STOP WORKING"... Seriously its been long since we having this issue and no matter what no video will load faster..please Fix it ASAP

New version STILL won't rotate at all on tablet. Stuck in portrait. What good is that? Not worth using if you can't use landscape. Also no DAR or DMA even when searching unless you create an account. Horrible update, avoid this! Update: Many versions later and STILL no landscape mode. Giving up on the Android version, it's not worth the aggravation. Disappointed.

WTH Chive??? It used to be awesome. Now you can't rotate the pictures and view the wide screen, all the ladies are gone, the swipping choices are confusing, and you can't see the writing over a picture. Please go back. NOW WE CAN'T DOWNLOAD THE PICS. GOOOOO BAAAACK PLEASE!!!

Great app when it works. Constantly crashes at launch after a few hours of non use and randomly during use. Now @ Mar 31 2017 app does not open at all on the LG G4. Help us! Version 2.0.7. @ May 22 App opens but still freezes randomly and crashes

The content is awesome. However the app does not function well. It crashes frequently, almost always after viewing a video. If the app just stayed open and working I would easily rate 5 stars. So aggravating at times

Recent update puts pop up ads inside the articles. This sounds innocent... but its not. The ad pops up over what you are reading, is LONG, goes away, then pops up again, goes away, then pops up again! It is the most intrusive advertising I've ever seen. I love the chive... love it... its WAS the only app of this type i use. This is so bad it made me quit going to the chive. Will get my humor fix from somewhere else and my girl fix from the hub. Not a chance chive. way over the top.

Iam now uninstalling this app because of the ads. It's a shame. I could put up with them peddling their own crap from shirts to beer, but when you can't even see the screen because of pop up ads, it becomes futile to use. Disappointed good bye

The caption button should be hidden along with the plus button. It can stop you from reading text at the bottom of a picture. App is also slow often and prone to crashes. It's also less user friendly since the big redesign. 4 star content with what's really a 2 star app. Since so many reviews reference how much they dislike the big update. Why not take a step in the right direction? Not continuously making the app a little less usable with every update.

Been a chiver for 10 years. Used to be a great website until the owner sold out. This app is absolutely bloated with ads now. The fact that this idiot flaunts his multi-million dollar house in the hills just makes it so much worse.

Now unable to download pics. Favorite posts will not save. Ads popup while browsing galleries. It's starting to turn into a very bad app and thechive is beginning it's decent into mediocrity with content anyway,

This ap used to be so much better...now they send you teaser notifications. ..click it....nothing. ..search for what you were looking for...nothing...very sad...if only they knew how to direct you to your interest...or a bare minimum. ..be able to search it by key words they sent you...what a simple fix....very sad....maybe this should be an old school magazine until they can figure out search engine skills.

Love the app. One issue - latest version is a substantial battery drain my phone's battery. 30% drop in less than an hour with my system identifying this app (which I hadn't run since last night after which I put my phone on a charger) as the culprit.

These ads are out of control! Holy cow give them a rest! I would gladly pay for a version of this app with no ads! Notification icon is also messed up on Google Pixel XL.

Keeps crashing. Reinstalled to see if loss of long hold save was somehow my devices fault, turns out not the reason. Can't up/down vote either. Has not ever run since reinstalled. I am uninstalling for good and will try site on Chrome. You should roll back most of the changes you've made 'cause it sucks now!

Love the chive but the new update is really bad. Ads take up more of the screen and not being able to save pictures or gifs sucks. It also now crashes if I try to reopen the app without completely closing it out.

Android 7.0 no longer allows you the save. Go to the actual site and long click to download. Great content. App is streamlined compared to the site (massive lag) but can only save via site after latest Android update. Hopefully theChive will fix. I will remain loyal in hope

Ever since the change to a not app but web version app, saving images has been annoying. Here's some ideas: 1) long press on either view to download an image, not just on vertical scroll view 2) numbers in the corner get in the way frequently, they should be smaller, and added to carousel view, not just vertical view again 3) I try and watch videos but they all seem to start with ads, that just doesn't work

I'm disappointed that I can no longer save pictures by long pressing on them. I also find the video ads intrusive and have had problems with the app crashing. It definitely needs some work.

Love the app but C'mon guys fix the constant crashing. And now for some reason it's also started hammering the CPU. Within 2 minutes the phone is too hot to hold. Recent update is also causing huge battery drain if not force stopped.

What's the point of having an account if you are going to completely remove my favorites every time I have to Uninstall and reinstall the app to clear clitches? Real annoying
