Day Journal: Personal Diary

I like this app but no new features for 2 years. Possibly abandoned now. Upfront this app lacks multiple cloud backup options and lacks device sync that others offer. Other than that the features and appearance are the best out there. The developers need to understand consumer needs have changed and device sync & cloud backup options are key to great mobile products that are based on information (uhm like notes, journals, and diaries, etc...)

I have used the app for 3 days. I really prefer typing to writing. The app also allows me to store photos and audio now that I've purchased the premium version. Can't complain as of yet. One thing I'd like to know is how can I sync or transfer my daily entries so I can access the journal on my various devices?

App should have option to backup to other cloud services such as Amazon compatible S3 regions. Needs updated Dropbox API since Dropbox retiring outdated version June 2017. Appears developer no longer supports this app which is reflected in rating.

App has never had functioning backup although promised in 2014. Android update today = journal entries for the last two years are GONE. No pc or device sync. Password protect removed by backup. All in all if you're journaling so you can retrieve those entries at a later date, this app is unreliable and I suggest you keep looking for something that actually works.

After years of not using this app and trying it once more I've decided to just give up on it. Revisiting the app I've only noticed a couple of differences and improvement, but they still haven't perfected exporting the journal entries to look as beautiful and seamlessly as it does when it is in the app. The HTML exports the entries in a weird looking way it's better that you just download the journey app that automatically saves all entries as PDF and you can share them anywhere online even social media.

I dont understand why there is this limitation of only 1 voce recording per entry... Why only 2 minutes... Why there is no sync function across devices... Well... Today Syncing across devices in one of the crucial features that every app should have... Pity

I had high hopes for this app. I faithfully entered events every day for a week but when I cleared up my cache to make room on my tablet, this app reset to the default & all my data was GONE! I was very upset but since I'd paid for this I figured I'd better be more careful next time. I spent several weeks getting to know all the details of the app & things were looking up. Last night I was recovering memory & this morning Day Journey decides to reset & all my hard work is gone once again. UNINSTALLING NOW!

All I needed it for was a place to store my thoughts offline, and I've gotten a couple years constant use out it. I liked so much, after I deleted my old google account, I went ahead and bought it again. I've gone through countless paper journals that cost more, so it was worth it. Just be sure to maybe email yourself an export of your entries once in a while, Only because if your device ever fails you could lose a lot. I barely avoided this scenario recently.

Excellent! Easy to use. Good as a pocket notebook. I keep written journals but this is an excellent helper to remember things I've seen, thoughts, to-dos. I got the pro version so it adds pictures to my entries and they look very good. Buy it-its a bargain and you get a lot in this little appI AM DELETING THIS BECAUSE I CANT USE DROP BOX WITH IT. CANT LOSE ANY MORE PICTURES

I only use this because it allowed me to transfer day one files. ... yet that process was so hard it was not worth it. Once day one makes an android version I'll be removing this app. The need for exporting and importing more file types would be nice. Would be great to have a cloud storage so you could read it on the Web.

I love everything about this app except that it's a little glitchy... has a nasty habit of going back to the password screen when I try to view an entry and I have to enter my pin again....? It's also a bit slow to load entries on timeline view. An update is definitely way overdue... Maybe it would work out the kinks.

This is actually one of the nicer Journalin apps however it is lackluster as it does not sync real time with day One such as Narrate. There should not be n import and export function but rather what you write in Day One shouod turn up in day journal and vice-a-versa. This would make the program an instant hit.

I've been using Day Journal to log school activity. I've been sending back up to email periodically as well. Now I'm receiving a message saying an error occurred sub; lang; java etc. I need these lost entries please. They aren't just memories to look back on they are mandatory logs. Help me fix this and I can give this 5 stars

I wanted a journal that worked on my phone and Tablet, but after paying for the PRO version and linking into Dropbox, I find I still have separate journals... one on my phone and one on my Tablet. They will not sync.

I bought this in conjunction with the purchase of a well known iOS app. This promised export which I wanted. Now I note there's no import. I can't go the other direction?

I have been keeping a day journal for two years. I have not been an advocate for journaling but this is so convenient and it's so much more than a written journal. I can record what's going on around me, I can take a picture to trigger the memory, journal my feelings and so on. I couldn't think of any better way to keep track of my daily thoughts and what's goings on.

Update: I followed the instrucdtion on their web but neither one worked; pc connection, back up /restore all failed. It seems that no back up file created at all when tried to backup and restore. When trastered files (database, image, audio folders), the new device could not recognized the pc-transtered files. please fix it. I changed my phone to Samsung s6 from LG g3 and tried to back up and restore through dropbox. You know both devices have no SD card slot :( it seemed back up was no problem from the old phone but I can't restore it on the new phone. And can't find any guideline. Please help.

Why can't you add photos??? I've seen way better diaries.

No backup or restore, and I get this "Rate Me " when attempting to contact someone for assistance. Nice app, but useless without backup and restore - unless used as a grocery list.

Too bad you could add only 5 pictures.I would like to have the possibility of unlimited images

Do you know how pathetic it is to make people pay just to upload a photo? What makes you think i want to do that when i can just use another app? theres only like a million others.

I have purchased it. Every time I want to save a picture, it crashes, java error or other things like saving an all-white or pink picture instead of mine. Lovely app, I want to use it, dev. please make it usable and reliable! Urgent update needed. Thank you.

Dear Day Journal - this is a great app and went shead and purchased it. I'm following the instructions for exporting and still I do not receive html format when it is received in gmail. Please advise, thank you

I had to update the operating system on my phone and redownload apps. This app was password protected before all of this. When I redownload app to phone all entries are gone! There is no section for those who have had the app previously to log in and retrieve old files. I will be deleting this app and looking for something more secure

I really like the recent change in layout as well as larger keys for PIN. Navigation seems to be better, functionally and aesthetically. Love the "This time last year" feature which shows journal entries for the current day a year ago. Option to back up to cloud sources including Google Drive is good because I'm sure my phone will be damaged or lost - the best you can do is be prepared for that eventuality! Material Design next?

Having paid for the full version on this tablet, that I find that the very same app on my other tablet I find that I have to pay again for the same app. Why is that,I have still given this 5 stars.

I love the look and feel of this app, but I cannot retrieve my past entries. I have the exported file, but I cannot find any option to "import". Developer has not answered my email. :(

I absolutely loved the app when first used it. My phone broke and I had to get a replacement phone and was so happy that I hadn't lost months of writings. But last week I updated to a Note 5 and lost everything. I have contacted them and with no avail all my entries are gone and I'm beyond hurt.

I tried it for several weeks but had to upgrade to add pictures and it asks every time it you want to upgrade. Moved on. It does what it says, you might love it

Ok, so basically the app runs smooth but after a while it either deletes all my entries or it won't allow me to see my entries because of some error and I cant see my picures...

I lost my phone but logged in with same details and my journal has gone. I'm gutted

After purchasing the paid version I lost every single entry. Over one year of my poems lost forever!

May 2015: The pictures were gone. I could see the entry. But it said "error has occurred in sub:java.lang.indexOutOfBoundException:invalid index 0, size is 0." What does this error mean? And why is this happening? It has occured more than once. VERY DISAPPOINTED! August 2015: Three months of this bullshit error! Take the money and your app, and stick it where the sun don't shine!!!

I just don't use it as my main journal, bought the upgrade Pro version, but still haven't found the best one for me. The top of the list is Amazing Notes Pro.

There was a new update for this app and ALL my logs were deleted, erased, gone! I needed those journal logs FOR COURT! Hopefully it doesn't happen again, I semi like this app and use to love it before the update! Luckily I print all my journal logs shortly after I enter it so I was only missing 3 or 4 logs so I wasn't too disappointed but still very annoyed so that's why I give it one star. APP DOWNLOADERS BEWARE: Back up your journal logs asap if needed for court, they might go missing on you.

All my previous entries have an error when trying to open them and the pictures are no longer attached. Very disappointed and sad.

Back to living the app. Whatever the fluke was. Its been fixed and I have all my pictures and memories back.
