That Pomo is based on a time management method developed by Francesco Cirillo called the Pomodoro Technique.

As humans we are naturally good at working hard, our brains are wired to reward us for hard work.
However we are also wired to avoid pain, our brains associate new or risky actions as pain. So our brain also rewards us for procrastinating when it thinks of something as risky or new.
