Science Magazine for Android
Is ur team fledgling amateurs; 4such an outstanding organization as AAAS, it's untoward, uncharacteristic & weak 2represent w/such a poor-performing app.
Can you please put me in touch with the app development team? I currently have a Digital subscription but the Android app is so bad that I often just read from my mother's Print subscription instead. The Android app is almost entirely useless in New York because it requires an internet connection to function, even after the Issue has been downloaded to the device. If I try to use the app on the subway, sometimes I lose the ability to read entirely until the next subway stop. Other times I can continue to read, but the app refreshes the page when a new internet connection is established, disrupting my reading. In all cases the app lacks basic features like proper zoom, highlighting, remembering the page, jumping to certain pages, linking like a PDF, etc. It is time for me to renew my subscription I would like to have a Digital subscription, but only if there are plans to improve the Android app. Otherwise I will be forced to kill trees to read Science. Can you please put me in touch with the app development team? I am a software engineer myself so I can take this conversation to a technical level with them. Thank you. P.S The app requires a Digital subscription, Print won't work
The app downloaded from google play is unusable as it is vitually impossible to read magazine without becoming frustrated. Best if you join through their website.
I was unable to launch it on my device. I receive a message that says I'm not subscribed to the magazine, even though I have an active subscription. I tried to fix this by reinstalling the app but it didn't work.
Not usable. If you have subscription, as I do, it still does not work.
Doesnt let me view any magazines even though i have a subscription.
This is only for subscribers.
Can't log in
Dysfunctional
Can't log in. Redirects you to buy subscription. Based on other reviews it looks like this has been a problem for a while... and it's still not resolved with an update I just downloaded.
Ignorance may be bliss, but smart ignorance is Science.
App won't let me log in at all on Android, says I need to take (another) subscription to use the app. Thought my regular subscription to Science would be enough! Disappointing.
Needs * lots * of work. Unusable. Shame on you, Science, for putting out such a POS as this.
I just joined AAAS but this app won't let me log in with my membership user name and password. Worthless.
The app is useless because It is failing at the login.
I was hoping for a mobile friendly experience. The links to the articles don't work. Full sized magazine pages on a phone screen, shrink to fit, are completely unreadable. I expected a more weblike adaptive content. Searchable would be nice too. The app is unusable as is.
Been using the Android app for a year or two, pretty mediocre but it served it's purpose. I have not been able to log in for 3 or 4 weeks now. Contacted customer service with no response. Steer clear of this app until it is improved.
This app is the worst magazine app I have barely usable compared to every other app. Now it has kicked me out. My subscription runs to 2018. Nothing works. Why oh why
I cannot log in. It keeps rejecting my email user name.
Not much to do with this app
Science is a great journal but this app doesn't do it any favours. I use a 10 inch tablet but the pages won't expand to full width in landscape mode so I have to read it in portrait mode and then drag the page around to follow the text. Tables are therefore very difficult to read. Added to which I have to shrink the page again before I can move to the next page. And sometimes pages don't load. If you're very patient and don't mind risking a headache, use the app. Grrr.
应用界面优化效果不够完善,界面丑陋。但是内容实用。
I have been reading Science magazine for 28 years. It could be better if there was a method for getting the equations out, and scanning images into 3D viewers like AutoCAD.
I payed $99.99. Where is my log in info?
The app is a mess
Update: The app stopped working in Nexus 7 after the last update. The list of unresolved problems remains huge but there are no solutions coming from the developers. It is frustrating. Older Comments: The app stopped working in my nexus 7 with android 5. This goes on top of all the issues remarked by other users, like the incapacity to jump smoothly to the desired article, the difficulty to go through the pages fast or not being able to zoom in.
Regularly crashing, not many view options, no last page viewed... so you better read the whole issue in one go or face scrolling through tens of pages! Wow, just wow! Edit after a few months: this app is so unpleasant I mostly stopped reading the journal. Definitely not renewing the subscription

App so slow, it's slmost non-functional. This app worked for a while, then returned to it's unusable state. Is that how you treat your subscribers, by farming the work out to programmers who either don't care or can't do the job?
I just spent $281 to renew my AAAS subscription for 2 years, the main benefit is "Science". If this represents AAAS, I want my money back.
Does not load any content. Something is wrong with it as many other comments already indicate.
Monumentally slow and lacks even some basic features. Stick to the web.
Installed app, cannot sign in or subscribe, bad app
I wish they fix it
Have the developers of this app never heard of background downloading? Downloading an issue requires keeping the issue in the foreground and not letting the tablet go to sleep. If you have multiple issues to download, you have to do them one at a time, waiting for each to complete. I wondered where the MS-DOS developers went... Also page turning is difficult, font isn't adjustable, no way to clean up storage, generally this app is a nightmare of poor practices.
Whoever coded this piece of garbage should be ashamed of themselves! You are representing a scientific journal - they should pursue legal action against you! I want my subscription money back!
The subscription is useless without an usable app.
Not much to do with this app
A subscription ad that doesnt even work.
