New version new phone still virtually useless. Let me know when you are ready to dump this junk and the developers and I'll get my 10 year old to write a better one.

The app could have been better. The app could have provided option to save the issues as PDF instead of trying to download for every time I need to read the mags. The app also takes forever to load and it's slow. I'm almost calling this a failed app. You have to struggle to use it. EDIT: The app seems to have improved with speed. But now, I get device limit error.

N70%
by N####:

App has a problem when loading previous or next pages when not online even though issue is downloaded.

N70%
by N####:

application is ok, except that it keeps refreshing all by itself in a relatively speaking annoying manner, in the main / tiled page/form/activity

Crap

U70%
by U####:

Pretty slow to load. Often crashes. The app is the only way I read Linux journal, so it'd be nice to get some issues fixed. I would love if it saved my place or if I were able to download a PDF of the magazine.

Can not adjust fonts or even zoom in.

App runs slow. No scaling of pages or text. Better off downloading EPUBs and using a reader like Aldiko.

This newer version works better.

Good magazine but the app used to view it is awful. No easy way to make the font larger, it keeps jumping around when you try to move the page. Been a subscriber for many years but unless the app improves can't see me renewing again.

U70%
by U####:

A splash screen that sits there for 1-2 minutes with no indication of any activity; a register new account/sign-in screen that just keeps redisplaying "login" without showing whether the login attempt succeeded or failed (and why); a library page that takes forever to display the issue covers, and seems to be always in a "Loading - please wait" state, and never actually succeeds in opening/displaying any of the selected issues. Do yourselves a favour and avoid this woeful app; instead subscribe online and download/sideload your issues directly and then read them with a generic e-pub or PDF reader. [This experience was on a Galaxy Tab S 10.5 (SM-T800) running Lollipop 5.0.2]

It had never worked well. On my Xperia z2 it shows a blank white page on every recovery from sleep. No bookmarking where you were. Hopeless. Give me a decent reader.

Shame for linux journal. Crashed trying to subscribe, need to login after subscription which doesn't work. Peace of s...

IN nexus 10, unable to change font size. Text too small to read. This app never give me good experience.

Works well in android phone.

The use of this Linux Journal app is painful. Although it offers “download option” for off-line read, it didn’t work! When you reached to certain pages, it stopped and asked you to download the magazine again. And the download speed is abnormally slow. I want refund!!!! I really hope that I had read users’ reviews before I buy.

Nexus 7, Cyanogenmod. Choose a mag, then it just spins. I'll just have to download the epubs to read.

Z70%
by Z####:

Font size too small and not adjustable. Want several issues offline for a trip, but can't tell what is on my tablet.

ux is terrible

What kind of an application doesn't tell you that you paid a subscription! I downloaded it a long time ago and now on my credit card billing I have a payment for this app I never used, and never told me I was paying!

Y70%
by Y####:

Shows that an issue is on the device but then proceeds to download it anyway. Lose the splash screen - I know what app it is, I just tapped the icon. Swiping between pages is painful - sometimes it gets stuck between pages and also has a very slow and gratuitous bounce back. Lose the highlighting of links or at least give me a way to disable it. You release new versions but never publish a change log. Don't you know what's changed? Extremely poor for Linux Journal. If this is the quality of product the GTxcel churn out, I can't believe that they're the leader of anything!

After seeing other people's complaints, I have to agree that this could use more polish but honestly, I would not have noticed had I not read other coomment about this app. Overall, I like it and it's much better than downloading the epub or pdf format of the magazine and trying to read it that way. Having access to previous editions of the journal itself is fantastic as I can now travel with them. This is great improvement over where the app used to be.

The LJ app is extremely frustrating to use on the Nexus 10. I hope LJ reads these reviews and fixes it!

Q70%
by Q####:

Ever since the update when in page view the pages scroll and stop between two and won't stay on a full page. Texterity needs to get it together or LJ needs to find someone who will do it right.

Q70%
by Q####:

The pages on the Nexus 7 stop in between and the Settings buttons in-app work whenever the feel like it, which is like 20% of the time. For a publication like Linux Format...its simply disgraceful & a technical fail that proves that they aren`t testing this before deployment on a variety of devices. To me, the fact that it has these issues on Google`s flagship tablet is an epic fail.....because its stock Android 4.2.......seriously!

Pages do not show correctly in Nexus 7. Only text-mode can be used. Not professional.

Q70%

Good app

Q70%

This app is horrible compared to the apple iOS version. Guess apple users are more important. Highly recommend skipping this app and downloading the PDFs and using a program to read them.

P70%
by P####:

Did you hear about "upgrade"? Forced me to uninstall/install. Lost bookmarks, saved issues. Can't set font size either. Texterity, LJ, get your act together!

P70%
by P####:

Moving from 3.2 to 3.42 you have to download a new app and uninstall the previous app? Totally weird strategy, especially for a minor build.

Q70%
by Q####:

The app focuses at the wrong spot. It displays half of the left page and half of the right page.

Q70%
by Q####:

I installed this app before uninstalling the old one. That left me with 2 identical icons. Had to uninstall both than reinstall. Linux Journal? Common!

Q70%
by Q####:

Not fantastic but very nice and works quite well. Much easier way to get to Linux journal!

Q70%
by Q####:

A very poor implementation. Has numerous issues. For example: swiping to scroll sometimes leave half of two pages visible. The bounce back effect is tedious, as is the highlighting of links. Limited ability to zoom. And more.

Y70%
by Y####:

Beware purchasing subscriptions through this application because it seems to be out of sync with google play. I filled out the form for customer service but have heard no response yet (1 day so far). nexus 7 and older tablet show same problem.

Y70%
by Y####:

Has completely stopped working on Galaxy Note 8. Used to work fine but latest update totally broke on this device.

B70%
by B####:

The app is difficult to navigate, and doesn't show pages correctly on my Nexus 7 v2. Now I just download the issues as PDF files, and use my eBook reader.
