Tesco Scan as you Shop

Same as everyone, app is great at scanning items, but fails at the till. It's because of the bad till software and ignorant staff at Kensington. They haven't programmed the tills correctly and some don't even know what it is... Always reply "I don't know". My reply "I stop shopping at Tesco".

Scanned a load of items easily. Got to till. Till did not successfully transfer my items across so I could pay. App then lost all items I'd scanned as it thought they'd been transferred. I then had to manually scan every item again at the till. Waste of time!

This app provides a list of stores where this CAN be used but most of which have confirmed there is NO Q R Code because it is not available there. The latest new software is not compatible with the app. Even the stores that have Scan as you Shop facilities cannot accommodate this app. Remove it and save data/memory!

Tesco staff have never heard of this. No Q code at shop and scan area. One staff member said it's fake, that Tesco do not allow your phone to be used for scan and shop. Very uneducated staff.

Great app. Love it. Our Tescos don't scan QR codes yet, but you just press 'does not scan' button and it brings up a bar code to scan. Very simple.

You are far behind Italy, where this can be used for years in entire shop networks / chains. Not only in a couple of shops like in UK. I wouldn't be too proud... No reason being so many years behind Italy...

Used it a few times at Kings Cross Metro. Sometimes works, but usually fails in one of a variety of ways. Eg, at the last step it claimed it had transferred the shop to the till, but it wasn't there on the till. And the app won't let me retry. So had to scan everything twice, which is worse than not using the app at all. The staff was of no help.

Fails to recognise my club card even though it's registered to my online account and registered for scan as you shop in store.

No qr code at large tesco store with cafe, tesco mobile shop and pharmacy. Where the hell can this be used. Waitrose trumps you on this.

Went into my local Tesco and asked for the qr code.thy didn't have clue what this app was.waste of space on my phone!!!

Tried using at peterborough extra. No QR code anywhere, staff didn't know anything about it.

Easy and simple, slick interface and very fast and accurate scanning engine - a no brainer!

Please list the stores that this currently work in. The Guildford staff had no idea. Including me, 5 people's time was wasted. Looking forward to it arriving.

The one time I managed to successfully use it, it worked great. There are a couple of issues/missing features that impede usage though. 1. Having to scan the QR code at the shop entrance. I often only remember to use SAYS when half way through my shop or upon seeing the length of the self-checkout queue, at which point it's too late. It needs the ability from the home screen to select the last/recent stores used (along with a store finder). 2. There's no way to cancel a session. The first time I wanted to try the app I just scanned the QR code on the way out. This initiated a session but there was no way to cancel it after. The next time I came into the shop the app was already mid session but upon scanning an item it errored and took me back to the home screen. At this point you have to traipse back to the store entrance.

Big waste of time. Not recommended at all. I installed and went tesco extra shop and no one is aware of this app. I enquired in customer support and scan as shop counter and they are not aware of this app.

This service is only available in a few stores at the moment app tells you which ones so don't complain you can't use it

Hopefully this will be released in my area soon. Currently doesn't accept Clubcard number on Tesco Credit Card though.

Not supported at my nearby major store, staff were utterly clueless when asked. App should have feature to determine if a store supports it.

Not used anywhere near me. Tried to find a way of locating stores with bit but given up looking. No obvious way to don't. I'd have rate as useless.

First off, I'm not going to criticise the service for being unavailable in my local store, like some other reviewers. At the time of writing, the Play store description and the opening screen in the app make it quite clear that the self scanning app is currently being run as a trial in a couple of stores only. That said, I tried this app out while visiting one of the trial stores in London, and although it sounded good "on paper", I found it very awkward in practice. The button to scan an item is positioned near the bottom of the screen, and it was really difficult to hold a carrier bag, hold the current item to be scanned, hold my smartphone, and also tap the scan button. The dedicated hand scanners found in other Scan As You Shop stores are so much easier to hold and use. Don't underestimate the difference good ergonomics can make!

It says in the first paragraph which stores are offering the limited trial of this app... Perhaps people should read the descriptions before they download an app that is not meant for them and giving it 1 star

Doesn't recognize my card. Error message not useful, just keeps asking for number again.

All of my local Tescos have scan and shop nut none of them have qr codes for this app waste of space

Very Good App

Great new way to scan, pack and pay especially if you're in a rush. It's really easy and fun to use.
