FATMAP - 3D Backcountry Maps for Android
I love this app and would definitely pay for it only when you get the north end of Grand Teton National Park. When that's up you'll get my money and that 5th star.
Can't stream onto an SD card with WiFi, so, not usable. Can't download maps unless you pay an extortionate fee. What's the point?
Great app, but will be better if more ski resort in Europe is included. Also, in La Grand Massif, you miss a whole chairlift of 6 people from molliets to saix!
It's nice, fees may be getting ahead of content though.
I liked that you could download the maps for offline use but now it's a premium feature with the most recent update. This was the only reason I liked this app. May as well use Google Earth now rather than pay $29.99/yr. Not much difference in the saddle imaging and 3d modeling.
Was superb, perfect. Loved it, great idea. They've ruined it chasing money, absolute farse now. Expensive too. An option for a cheap, week/2 week long download would be more acceptable.
Pretty much unusable as long as I can't stream on my SD card. This is an obvious feature considering the size of the content you offer.
Still very beta in places, but a great proof of concept, and far better off piste info than I've ever seen anywhere, let alone on a useful 3d map
Read before installing: If you go off piste, then you are better off using google earth for visual orienteering and a free open offline map (oruxmaps etc) for exact location, stats, tracking etc. If you go on piste, resolution and detail isn't good enough and it's slow (even on my samsung S7) ... and you are better off with a standard paper map of the resort. Their promise of "free" is misleading.. it only applies to online maps. Even if you're willing to pay for mobile data or have a flat fee ... in practice out on the mountain this works poorly: by the time you are logged in, the map has loaded etc ... you fingers are frozen and your mates are fed up waiting. Leave alone that often you don't have a good signal. Lastly, the company is unethical... luring users to a "great free upgrade" ... that actually removed your free offline maps. So in conclusion, the app was already not that useful when free ... but definitely not worth paying a penny for it. Use google earth and a free mapping app instead. It's free and better.
+ - , A BIT SLOW AND SEEMS THAT WITH GOOGLE EARTH CAN DO ALL OF THESE FASTER
Junk since premium roll out. Misha Gopaul a personal message, pay!
First download it had all the classics but now they seem to be missing many. Nothing in the Glacier du Nant Blanc anymore for instance. Le Chapeau?
Great app but disappointing the gps doesn't work for tracking with the screen off.
The maps on here have great detail and to be able to see the terrain as it is makes planning way more exciting then looking at a flat map. Haven't used this for boarding yet but can't wait to get out there with it. As the maps come this will be one of my favourite.
Seems like a cool app. Be even cooler if it had some Canadian stuff outside of Whistler. Like Banff. Or Rogers Pass. Or Jasper.
Good app but it's too expensive to move from free to paid.
Excellent resource for anyone out on the hill!
WHAT ABOUT ALASKA?!
133Mb for the 3 vallées map but the roads and the cities are missing. I can't even find Méribel. Méribel is called Chaudanne?

Very slow even on high end devices, terrible design and user experience. Devs, have you ever seen Android app before?
Couldn't get it to work, downloaded a map but it never got passed the making mountains bit. I've uninstalled to get my 157MB back
Need to work on filling in some second tier mountains and this will own. I will gladly pay reasonable prices (which are currently set) for the addition of some smaller resorts. Good stuff keep it coming! Seriously understand the only reason you don't have money from me yet is that China Peak isn't on the list...yet? I didn't have any issues with slow response on an LG G3.
Will be amazing once some of the northern resorts are mapped. Such as panorama bc. Lake louise AB . Marmot basin AB. And others in the area.. all high elevation rocky Mountain resorts
Great idea but demands a lot from your phone. My Z3 heats up very quickly! Maps are also incomplete, Les Brevieres is cut off in Tignes just where you need it to finish off-piste Sache run. UI is also poor, constantly pull the left menu open when trying to zoom & rotate. Disappointed overall & regret spending tenner on hi res maps & freeride lines. Massively over priced for a fortnight of access. Avoid for now :-(
An app that was needed. With the new subscription model I change the grade to 4. It still needs some polishing and the maps are far too limited, but the direction is good. I would expect the integrated services/deals to appear soon and maps to expand and get more details, as well as freeride/skitouring options marked on the maps. So far lots of classical routes around Chamonix do not exist at all. Good job, keep going!
Unless you pay the $35/yr fee the maps are anything but high resolution and fairly worthless as they have no detail waste of space and time
Looks good, but contrary to their claims Portes du Soleil has not been added, so no use for me. More annoyingly they don't reply at all to support queries.
The maps are nice, at least with the premium account, but I find that to be a bit too expensive. Some slopes are missing or marked wrongly for this resort (Les Arcs). The record button at first seems to start a recording but you soon realize that the whole feature I just a mock up with some static numbers. Dave doesn't work. Tried on two Android devices and iPad.
Has a login screen that you can't seem to skip, a 'feature' that is totally unnecessary on a map viewer.
Bug: doesn't record your track and not very customisable
Does not work on Samsung Galaxy S4.
Does not respect screen orientation lock.
Best off-piste guide info. Hands down.
Disappointing, not enough maps for Europe eg Austria, Andorra, Bulgaria.
Thought I was logging my day's skiing. pressed save, gave it a name, went to retrieve the log and found 'nothing recorded'. Samsung S5 back button does nothing, can't exit the app. However, 3D maps are excellent, shows your location but that is the limit of its use.
I always wanted to scope out new areas on the mountain before dropping in, and now I can! Bought the map for my favourite ski area and I love it.
Great idea, but needs more maps...way more. Still great app and limited maps available are cool. Just don't have use since my home mountain isn't included... Mt. Hood.
but who thought white text against a white background ( eg resort names etc ) was a good idea ?

I installed on a Samsung Note 4 and it was terribly slow. I had to restart the phone because all apps did not respond after that. I will definately uninstall the fatmap
