Colorful DIY Geometric Desk Organizer

The colors and geometric angles of this DIY colorful geometric desk organizer make give me all the heart eyes! And surprisingly it was quite simple to make although you do need access to power tools or a friend who will help you use theirs. I love that when not holding any papers, it almost looks like a sculptural art piece, but is totally functional for corralling all those papers on your desk.

Materials

   4′ of a 1″ by 4″ piece of pine or other nice wood
   Miter saw
   Acrylic craft paint in 5-6 colors
   Wood glue
   Paint brush

Make Time: 2 hours

Step 1: Begin by cutting your wood into 6 shapes using your chop saw. You will need one straight cut to about 10″ (this will be your base).

Step 2: For the divider pieces, just move the base of your miter saw and cut random angles and shapes out of the remaining wood. There is no right and wrong here. I just adjusted the saw to cut between 30 – 45 degrees and create super angled pieces.

Step 3: Once you have your wood pieces cut, paint them with the acrylic paint. I love the way it looks with different colors on each shape, but feel free to let your creativity flow and paint your dividers however you like!

Step 4: Finally, use the wood glue to attach the pieces to the base. Because this piece won’t be supporting much weight, you don’t need to clamp them pieces together when as the glue dries. After the glue is dry, your desk organizer is ready to hold all the things!

Now how was that for an easy project?! Just cut, paint, and glue. I know several people who are scared to try a project with wood working, but this is a great starter project. It really couldn’t be easier!
