Il dizionario, in linea con il portale ha una veste grafica semplice e intuitiva con la possibilità di cercare parole specifiche dal/al sassarese e di consultare l'elenco per lettera. Ogni termine è corredato da una traduzione scritta, con indicazioni sulla fonetica, e un file audio che permette l'ascolto e la verifica della pronuncia corretta.
La varietà linguistica è parte integrante della cultura del territorio di sassari, Sorso, Porto Torres, Stintino e della Nurra, come attestato dalla tradizione scritta, orale e artistico-musicale e, allo stesso tempo, una delle lingue più a rischio della regione a causa di una aggressiva politica di svalutazione a cui è stata sottoposta, soprattutto nei contesti scolastici del capoluogo, dal dopoguerra a oggi. La città di Sassari, la più popolosa del nord ovest dell'isola e punto di riferimento del territorio dal punto di vista economico e amministrativo, ha avuto e ha un ruolo chiave nella diffusione e nella conservazione della lingua. Per questo motivo è stato scelto di puntare su un progetto che promuove la conoscenza e diffusione del sassarese e che coinvolga le nuove generazioni attraverso due fondamentali aspetti: le nuove tecnologie e il coinvolgimento delle scuole.


SASSARI.TV è il portale web dell'Associazione Culturale Torretonda Telesassari.tv che ha come progetto quello di valorizzare e promuovere il territorio sardo attraverso la divulgazione di un'immagine contemporanea della Sardegna, al di là di stereotipi che hanno portato alla creazione di un immaginario fuorviante e folkloristico della regione. Obiettivo perseguito dall'Ente fin dall'inizio della sua attività attraverso la TV locale comunitaria Telesassari.tv, di cui è proprietaria e che trasmette in digitale terrestre sul canale 622 nella Provincia di Sassari dal 2010, grazie all'ideazione e produzione di format televisivi su temi chiave. Programmi sul ruolo delle donne nella società isolana, la produzione letteraria della e sulla Sardegna, la produzione cinematografica, la storia e i beni architettonici e culturali della Sardegna; la trasmissione di eventi, conferenze e manifestazioni di interesse, l'editoria e l'organizzazione di incontri e convegni su temi riguardanti la cultura del territorio, sono al centro della produzione della Tv e dello stesso sito www.sassari.tv

Il sito web si inserisce in questo progetto culturale nella prospettiva sia di allargare l'audience della TV attraverso lo streaming e la pubblicazione on-line delle migliaia di ore prodotte in questi anni di attività, sia nella diversificazione dei servizi e nella costruzione di strumenti per la promozione del territorio. In particolare, la sezione Eventi si distingue per la sua interattività: ogni utente può aggiornarla e arricchirla inserendo le iniziative compilando un semplice form. Ogni evento, una volta verificata la veridicità delle informazioni, viene pubblicato nel portale nell'elenco degli Eventi disposti in ordine cronologico. Tutti gli eventi sono cliccabili e corredati di pagina di approfondimento e relativo link del sito o pagina Facebook. Un servizio che dà la possibilità di avere un accesso diretto all'offerta culturale, artistica, scientifica e dell'intrattenimento in generale del territorio.

I contenuti in lingua sarda all'interno dell'Archivio del sito sono tra i più vari e comprendono, per esempio, le 90 lezioni di Sardo e le 90 lezioni di Sassarese del progetto “Letzioni/Letziones. A scuola di Sardo e Sassarese”, realizzate e andate in onda sul digitale terrestre tra il 2011 e il 2012, grazie al contributo della Regione Autonoma della Sardegna. Altri materiali relativi alla promozione e diffusione della lingua sarda presenti sul portale sono gli spettacoli teatrali in lingua, i convegni e le conferenze organizzate sul territorio e organizzate da diversi enti.
