About Move Your MET

Suitable for individuals looking to understand and improve their current level of fitness, the Move Your MET app is brought to you by Irish Life Health, in partnership with Dublin City University (DCU).
This free app is used by participants in the Workplace Fitness Challenge and can also be used by individuals of any fitness level.
The app allows users to calculate their cardiovascular fitness level based on the internationally recognised standard of Metabolic Equivalent of Task, ‘MET’.
Just follow the simple instructions to test your fitness with a 1 mile walk or 1.5 mile run completed at your fastest pace. The app shows you how to measure your heart rate and calculates your individual MET score using your basic profile information.
The app provides personalised feedback on your fitness level in comparison to the general population of your age and gender. Users are challenged to improve their MET score and to meet or exceed a MET score of 10, the minimum level recommended for individuals over the age of 18.
What is a MET? A MET (Metabolic Equivalent of Task) is a simple yet effective means of expressing your fitness level. The higher your MET score, the fitter you are.
For individuals over the age of 18, it is recommended that you have a MET score of at least 10.
What is the Workplace Fitness Challenge?
At Irish Life Health, we are passionate about supporting health and wellbeing initiatives and are proud to work in partnership with Dublin City University (DCU) in launching The Workplace Fitness Challenge and the Move Your MET app.
The goal of the challenge is to provide a programme that supports Ireland’s workforce to become fitter and healthier by increasing levels of physical activity in the workplace.

Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

Ran 1.5 and app restarted, had it saved on mmr so turned GPS off and timed it out. Still don't have a clue what's going on but I'm poor

U70%
by U####:

Tried to do test, app kept crashing. Did my run anyway, would be good to be able to manually input time it takes to run 1.5 mile.

U70%
by U####:

I have 17 miles ran since Monday and not a mile recorded. It's useless. I thought it was just me but it's not. Is there any chance data could be shared from my garmin.

U70%
by U####:

Useless. Doesn't even remotely accurately track the distance. Back do the app development team. Rubbish.

U70%
by U####:

GPS won't work so can't use. Map my walk all the way

U70%
by U####:

App developer should be embarrassed by this piece of rubbish. Apart from the crashes and poor UI design, it can't even do a simple bmi calculation - says mine is 42, actually it's 28.

I70%
by I####:

App crashes unless screen rotation is disabled. Happened to almost all of the 30 people in our work group. Fairly basic problem that I would expect to have been found in testing.

U70%

No drop down list for company name.

U70%

Works really well new update is great

U70%
by U####:

Tried multiple times and it kicked me out of the trial every time midway! . Ridiculous. Sort it out! One plus 3T user.

U70%
by U####:

Terrible app that has not been tested adequately. Requires too much user interaction in order to take part in an inane competition from which an insurance company will benefit from by gathering user data for free. Utter nonsense

U70%
by U####:

Crashes every time, unable to put in profile, useless.

U70%
by U####:

Easy to use, and visually appealing

C70%

Where's my results mate

D70%
by D####:

walked a mile had my heart rate entered it app crashes does not store data worse than useless!

U70%
by U####:

Well put together, I would take another look at the layout of the home screen. Functionality and navigation are spot on. Great for general public and PTs

X70%
by X####:

Rubbish app. Ended up doing it 3 times and lost it mid way through every time. Absolutely shattered now.

T70%
by T####:

It is a good app but it could be better. It would be handy to be able to manually input times instead of just a stopwatch. Also in the results, it would be nice to be told what time you need to achieve to get the next grade; knowing that 13.8 is excellent is all well and good but knowing that it needs a time of X minutes would be handier

S70%
by S####:

App stopped my run when phone screen went on sleep mode.

Crashed 4 times with GPS tracking on while trying to Measure my Met score. Great idea but wholly unreliable

H70%
by H####:

Frequently crashes. GPS tracking doesn't work properly

J70%

The app thinks I have completed mile in 3 min and crashes? I have tried this a few times and the same issue each time

E70%
by E####:

walked a mile had my heart rate entered it app crashes does not store data worse than useless!

Z70%
by Z####:

Very disappointed app looks great but crashes after about 3 minutes. It thinks I have completed the mile in that time. Fix the glitches and I'm sure this will be a nice app.

Z70%
by Z####:

Yesterday I mapped a mile so I knew when to start measuring this morning.  App told me I haven’t walked a mile yet, even though I walked over a mile. When I tried to measure my pulse, app counter didn’t work at all. It kept freezing. I had to use my phone’s timer to measure 15 seconds.  When I finally got my result and put it in the app, it crashed and lost all my data. Now when I try to check my results, app keeps quitting. Quite annoying.

F70%
by F####:

Poor app, constantly crashing, practically unusable

Z70%
by Z####:

Was nice but since the update it seemed to think I walked a mile in under 6 minutes

Q70%
by Q####:

Gps doesn't seem to work . Keeps saying I've ran 1.5 miles after I've only been at it a few mins .. at this stage I've ran a new world record 3 times

Z70%
by Z####:

Well put together, I would take another look at the layout of the home screen. Functionality and navigation are spot on. Great for general public and PTs

W70%
by W####:

Crashes regularly and GPS tracking doesn't work

Z70%
by Z####:

Great I can see how motivating it is for overweight people!!!

X70%
by X####:

App stopped my run when phone screen went on sleep mode.

M70%
by M####:

I keep my phone in my pocket and have to keep checking when I reach end of test as there is no notifications to tell you. This would be a huge benefit. Also, not so sure the mile is accurate, seems more like a kilometre to me. Great potential though

Z70%
by Z####:

Please check the spelling, lose weight, not loose weight..

Z70%
by Z####:

This app said my score was 15.1 which puts me in the 99 percentile of my group. Somehow I don't think I'm athlete quality! I did the 1.5 miles in just under 10 mins but I'm hardly an athlete....?

Z70%
by Z####:

Pulse measure screen didn't appear at the end of 1.5 mile run. It just measured time ran.

Z70%
by Z####:

Thanks for reply. Works perfect.

Z70%
by Z####:

Very annoying

Z70%
