The main slope of the brega pop is the calypso (not the calypso music), known in Pará as brega calypso. The rhythm develops mainly in the city of Belém do Pará (due to population concentration), as public night events and nightclubs on the periphery gave way to street vendors to publicize the production of small local musicians. The lyrics of the songs express a range of sensations with a very youthful lyric.
Calypso interpreters and composers who have studied the musical culture of Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago and have memorized their traditional rhythms and structures to incorporate them into their music are known as Calypso (Calypso). The creativity of some of them makes them able to improvise a calypso from any subject, getting to compete among them in ad hoc sessions held during the carnival of Trinidad and since the fifties in organized competitions. At present one of the most famous calypsonians is the Costa Rican.
Although the calypso arose on the island of Trinidad, later it passed to its neighbor Tobago, it spread by the Caribbean and in each place acquired different characteristics.
