Samsung SmartCam for Android
Extremely frustrating. Could not register camera because app requires turning off a wifi setting that my phone running the latest Android software does not show. Says I need to disable "ignore weak wifi signals" in my Wifi advanced menu, but that is not an option in my Wifi Advanced menu. That makes my camera and this app worthless to me.
Works fine for me, I see others complaining, could be their WiFi settings, but it works perfrct. The app is pretty basic, it could use a better UI and be more snappy. It functions how I need it to though.
Much better than the upgrade. Don't know why it has to be replaced by worst upgrade. The blue colour is even better than the new orange upgrade. Should have work on this app to solve bugs & make it better rather than destroy it with horrible horrible horrible upgrade
Get Tinycam Pro. It offers all of the features this app is missing such as support for multi window use on galaxy phones, viewing more than one camera at a time, Chromecast support, fingerprint login, and a great interface. The smartcam app offers none of this. Tinycam Pro is what you are really looking for.
Latest update stopped me from getting notifications (unless I open the app while walking in front of the camera). Do I have to wait 2 more months for an update to fix this?
Needs a live multiscreen grid view not just a list view of connected cams & an option to select a notification sound different from system default other than that its much faster connecting after recent update..
When I first down loaded the app it jad a record feature and a SD card option to save files, but then it told me to update the camera software and those features disappeared. Now I cannot record video only snap shots, and no where to upload the event recordings because no matter what I try I cannot get it to upload to Google drive, and the camera was advertized as being able to upload to youtube, but they no longer have that option. I am very disappointed at buying an expensive product and finding the reasons I bought it do not work, including the app that is needed to operate it. There isn't any options to connect to my gmail account for notifications either like the app read me says there should be. All those options disappeared after this app updated the camera software.
Ever since i upgraded to this new version i have lost the functionality of the camera!!! Most irritating!! I want to see if i can reinstall the previous version that worked!!
Garbage. Keeps disconnecting and need to relax to get feed back, so hopeless as a monitoring device. Need Internet even when at home and routing through an internal network. Can't keep feed going in corner and use other applications or it loses connectivity and you need to reload
Wish that the authentication to Google would be fixed. It tries to open it in the app which is no longer supported by Google so I can't connect it to my Google Drive. This means I am not able to save videos from motion triggered alerts.
Before was ok now on mobile data is connecting only in relay mode.please fix this otherwise this app is useless... Talk to some guy from samsung....very unprofessional! Al he did he showed me that his camera is working. And blamed my lte network .shame samsung. Your product is garbage.
OMG RETURNING JUST BOUGHT YESTERDAY LITERALLY & IT SOCKS TICKS CLICKS ALL DAY APP KEEP FREEZING & STATES CAMERA LOST CONNECTION. WHAT'S WITH THE CAMERA TICKING ALL NIGHT AND THE APP TICKING!!! DON'T WAIST URBAN
It was ok, worked Perfectly fine. Buat after updated, now the speaker mode doesn't work anymore. Too bad
This app is old and outdated. It keeps disconnecting my camera, I have to reset the camera and reconnect every night which is ridiculous. Unsafe to use as a baby monitor. Id advise not to buy the smart cam as they are unreliable, check online its a known problem which Samsung have not resolved
Works ok in live view but can't even watch any events that have been captured! Garbage
Please fix, works almost fine with LG G6 but unstable with GS7 Edge. It crashes and freeze all the time.
For a supposedly SmartThings connected camera, the functionality is pathetic. No real IoT functionality to trigger or by activate by IFTTT or Stringify. Weak.

My Wi-Fi is good and strong. And it keeps saying it can not connect to server. Please fix
Since the latest update the cam is no longer uploading event images to Google photos, despite having correct Google App passwords! This was main reason I chose this camera in first place.
After reading all the negative reviews and having experience with these cameras. I am in agreement with the negative reviews. What Samsung don't realize, is that once you buy a bad product from Samsung you will never buy a similar product from them again. Their camera line is considered to be junk. I will never buy a Samsung camera again. Sticking with their phone's and TV's only.
Everytime I try to connect my smart cam to Google drive it says user agent denied, it's not even sending emails to my Gmail for authorization, this device is useless now, help Samsung
I like the app but I am unable to backup my recordings. Weather it be Picasa or Google drive. It gives me a 404 error. I am unhappy with this and this needs to be fixed. What's the point of having motion detection if you can't record from that?
Server maintenance on a Friday night. What genius thought that scheduling was a good idea? So good luck using your cameras when it would be useful. Also, internet explorer for pc use is your only option. Is it 1997 again? Where's Chrome, Edge, or Firefox support? Those programs not buggy enough looks IE? The UI sucks on the IE plugin & isn't much better I the app.
Wish it could do more. Missing Multiple camera viewing on same screen. Can view on pc without downloading plug in. No good on a chrome book or box. Waaay too sensitive and I can't turn it it down below current lowest settings. Alerts with shadows, changing to night mode, anything. Alerts almost useless. I wish I could have scenes where it would not send alerts. Wish it worked with smartthings. As long as everything is hard wired, connections remain mostly stable. I can reliably view video through the app, but I haven't figured out how to send clips. Don't think it is possible.
UPDATED REVIEW: Previously there was an update to my Samsung camera that made it incompatible with this app (while the "suggested" app within this app was incompatible with my phone), but that seems to be fixed now (this app works with my camera again)! Thank you! The app itself is pretty decent, gives good quality streams, real time alerts, and a good amount of settings you can adjust. My only real complaint is that you can't delete motion alert recordings from the app (which I get a lot of because of over-sensitivity to light changes through windows, but I'm guessing that's the camera's fault, not the app's). Also it would be nice to be able to do things like update account settings inside the app (since I can't find anywhere else to do it and the website is not compatible with any of my browsers).

Very basic app. You can't activate and deactivate all of your cameras at once. A real pain when you leave and come home. I expected more from Samsung. Also can't immediately save events on phone you have to remove card to download onto computer.
This app still sucks. I think it will not let you look at security recordings if there are too many for that day. It says it can t communicate with the camera while retreiving the list. When this happens, you can't retrieve ANY video. This is a TOTAL FAIL for a security camera. Don't buy this product, it won't work when you need it too. I can't access any video for today or any day now. Samsung junk. Such a simple app for someone to write, yet it's horrible. This isn't some complex interstellar navigation app. It's suppose to simply work with a camera right here on Earth. Will the app world please hire better competent programmers. I'm not buying any more Samsung stuff.
Mediocre app and web UI hobble otherwise usable hardware. Firmware update then demands I switch to a different app. It's rated even worse! Then try to use the camera via a browser and it requires Internet Explorer. WTF?
The UI needs an overhaul, pretty old fashion for what version of Android we are on now. It would be nice to see the camera link with "Samsung Connect" so it can put up on my tv. I'm using it as a baby monitor so it would be nice for this feature to be added in. Everything seems to be working at this point.
Every time I try to log on, it says I have no internet connection. Yet every other app is able to connect? Fix this!! Update: I moved to a new house and obviously took the camera with me. There is no way to change the internet settings on the app. You have to do a full reset! Pain!!
This application is wonderful for keeping track of your business, homes, where ever you might want to have a camera. It may kick you off from time to time but after seeing the alternative.. I'd rather get kicked off and have to sign back in then to use that new application. I mean we pay alot of money for these cameras the least your application can do is give us the ability to look at our cameras. Give us a safety of mind that our money was very spent.
This product is garbage, has never worked from day one. Constantly losing connection and only recordes when it feels like it, God forbid there is an emergency or a break in and the camera is just there for Looks and does not record anything. Complete waste of money, I will be looking for something better maybe I'll look into night owl.
Overall good, easy to use, and keeps on improving. Disconnects pretty often depending on what phone you use. Recommendations for improvement: ability to view on the same screen at the same time more than one camera video feed. Another recommendation: ability to set up multiple user profiles so that an administrator level (the parents) would be able to control/restrict access of secondary users (grand parents, in this case). Hope someone from their product development team gets to read this :)
Server error yet again. Seems to be common theme for it. Can't turn off the camera since it was active when server connection stopped working so nonstop notifications while at home, had to unplug. Internet connection is fine, other brand cameras and their service worked fine. Refuses internet login since their site refuses all but IE. Hate to tell you people but updated machines don't run IE anymore, it runs the modern version called Microsoft Edge. Samsung needs to get with the times especially seeing as their own devices use Samsung Internet which also comes back as unsupported. Their own internet version is incompatible, really?
complete garbage. waste of $100 camera. Youwould think that it would be possible to use a different software so that your camera product is as useful to as many ppl as possible, right? Wrong! This stupid app is the 1 and only way to view the video on your security camera. If the app actually worked then OK maybe I could use it somehow but this app is the buggiest POS I have ever used. Constantly losing the video feed and crashing. Hopefully this will save a few ppl $100, unfortunately I got mine 2nd hand so I dont have a receipt to return it. Save your money and spend it on something that is open source so that if the makers program doesnt work well at least you have other options to make use of your security cam!
1) event settings need to be MUCH easier to access. I don't need a notification after the first one, I'm in the room! 2) app slow to connect to camera each time, takes ages 3) took it on holiday to use as baby monitor so worst WiFi couldn't set it up at all in multiple locations
I invested on 5 cameras that are going back to Costco first thing tomorrow, though they are great cameras, the App is obsolete. It worked ok-ish for the first few days, but now it just looks for my network and freezes without finding it at all... same thing on my wife's phone. I have Time Warner with a measured wireless DS of 132Mbs and we have no issues with any other devices on the network. Hope you find a fix and soon for the sake of the product. I'm sorry but I need something reliable and functional

I love the app but I wish there was a quicker way of opening it and getting to my camera. When I get a notification that something is happening, they are usually gone by the time I can get the app open and click in the camera to load it.
