About AREA
AREA (Area of Real Estate App) allows users to estimate the area of buildings and/or outdoor sites and to calculate route distances by drawing multiple polygons and lines on a map. Examples of what AREA can be used for include:
1. To estimate the area of a building or a home or other real estate (including multi-story buildings).
2. To estimate the area of an outdoor site or real estate property.
3. To determine the distance from a subway stop to a building.
4. To determine the distance from a dwelling to the edge of a property.
5. Other distance or area estimates.
The following steps should be taken to estimate the area of buildings or outdoor sites:
1. Select a site or define a new site.
2. Draw one or more polygons to define the area (areas may also be subtracted - for example an open atrium in a building or a lake from an outdoor area). Each polygon can contain up to 40 points.
3. View results.
4. Export results via a KML file (if needed).
The following steps should be taken to make a route distance calculation:
1. Turn on the distance mode.
2. Touch points along the route on the map.
3. View the route distance in the display area.
4. Turn off the distance mode to erase points and the route.
AREA can report areas and distances in both English and Metric units. In addition, up to 8 sites can be stored for future reference. Areas and shapes can be exported via a Keyhole Markup Language (KML) file to be viewed on a Geographical Information System.
NOTE: DISTANCE AND AREA CALCULATIONS ARE BASED ON THE ACCURACY OF USER-PLACED POINTS ON THE MAP AND OTHER USER-SUPPLIED INFORMATION AND SHOULD BE CONSIDERED AS ESTIMATES ONLY AND NOT AS EXACT VALUES.
NOTE: This application requires the user to place points on a map to define routes or areas. A stylus may be helpful to accurately place points - especially on smaller devices.
NOTE: This application requires internet access. It also can modify and/or delete contents of the device's USB storage.
PRIVACY POLICY: The only Personally Identifiable Information (PII) that AREA uses is the user's current location in order to change the map location. AREA does not store this information or provide it to any third party.
