GardenAnswers Plant Identifier for Android
The actual app has been moderately successful in identifying plants, but you can also pay and get horticultural advice and that was super quick and helpful.
App shuts down every time I take a picture. I have an Asus zenfone
This is the easiest to use, most helpful app I've found - can't do without it! Fabulous creation - just what I needed - thank you very much!
Identified the first time I tried it, but since then it has been a bit slower,
Works great, I literally have 30 plus plants, Love this app!
Did every thing we asked of it thank you.
Really like't it.I had a herbarium so this helped a lot
Very good app...I used goggle from google for months, it only worked once or two...very disappointing...but this app works fantastic.
Great app. Just downloaded it and I've identified about 7 plants and trees. 2 potted and 5 outdoor, and all have been correct. Highly recommended.
I am a novice. I took a couple ornamental horticulture classes in college but didn't take and interest in plants until about 5 years ago. It's strange but that led to a passion in geology as well. I fell in love with the Japanese practice of landscape, probably because my mind works in very symmetrical way yet succulents and cactus are my favorite plants. I encourage anyone interested in plants to download this app and not waste money buying books when all the info is here and very accurate. My sincere thanks to the app designers, a job very well done indeed.
Wonderful way of learning more about the house plants and different succulents I recently bought, but didn't get explanations of each. Bought them from Amazon, 20 of them, Want to know which will possibly bloom. GREAT APP. For a nominal fee, you can even ask a Hortaculturist.. AWESOME!!!! Would rate a 10+ if I could.
I paid 2 dollars to find out what one of the plants in my backyard was. I submitted my question to the horticulturists that would answer my question. They said my answer would be there within 24 hours. My answer arrives later than 24 hours and the horticulturists said they could not identify my plant. They needed flowers to identify. My plant doesn't even have flowers!
Paid for an identification, received an answer in 24 hours. They got it exactly right. I tested the answer they gave me against a local plant expert and they agreed. No one else was able to answer this, so this has been a huge help.
So many incorrect identifications when searching by name. At least 3 of the pictures for Ramps (Allium tricoccum) are incorrect. 2 of the pictures are Lily of the Valley, a poisonous plant. I would not trust this app to help identify wild edibles.
The photo focused more on the ground around my plant or on my hand holding the plant to get better light than what the leaves actually looked like. Its closest matches didn't even come close to resembling what I was trying to find. Absolute fail.
The algorithms used for image matching are a bit hit and miss. Hellebore came up in a search but so did many flowers of completely different shapes. Only one or two were even similar. It has helped me to identify some plants in my garden but my mother-in-law is usually a better bet!
It actually worked! Been scouring the internet for the better part of 40 minutes before I tried this. First shot wasn't close enough and brought back wrong results. Second shot I got as close as I could to the actual flower and it worked perfectly!
Better app than the one I had been using and it wasn't free. This app is easy to use, gives detailed info. and you can even ask a horticulturalist,if need be!! Great app!! Highly recommend!
Reading the negative reviews on this incredible app makes me wonder what people nowadays are thinking. Here is a FREE app with the intent of HELPING one identify plants, which means one must put forth some effort and use some comparison skills, instead of snapping a pic and expecting the correct answer to pop up! Someone has taken their precious time, resources and knowledge to build this database of info and given it freely to YOU. I didn't see any ads popping up every time yu click a button, so no one is getting paid. Would you be willing to do the same? To damn this application because YOU cannot take a picture or God forbid your plant isn't big enough or isn't in bloom is ludicrous! Doesn't anyone realize there's probably trillions of plants in the world, that each probably has many variations due to geographic location, season, amount of sunlight, soil, wind, temp, etc., even down to how much water it gets? I'm an experienced, lifelong horticulturist but I still don't know everything. Moving to a new area of Texas has brought many new plants/weeds to my attention. I'm also teaching my sister about plants because she now (at 67 yrs old) has developed an interest. This app has been a true blessing for us both. No, the app probably won't get every plant correct every time, but truly who or where do you expect to get correct info literally handed to you - every time! I've been trying to identify a volunteer plant for a couple of months now. I wasn't sure of the answers I got at first. Now the plant has matured and is in bloom, and guess what? The answers I got 2 mos ago were, in fact, CORRECT! So, good gosh, folks, lighten up! My sincere appreciation to the developers. I'd rate it with an infinite amount of stars if I could!.A+++++
Nearly always matches your photos, and, if not, the ask a horticulturist option is cheap and very quick. Loads of Information provided as well as identification. Great app
It's such a helpful app that it made me sceptical at first. Great apps indeed do exist and Garden Answers is a great example of that.
I have gotten some good answers with it. Not everytime. It was a free app. When i dont get what I'm looking for, I just keep researching. I'm not paying for information that is free on the Net
Answer received within hours. I'd been searching, without luck for months to identify my plant. The first answer I received was perfect and now I know how to deal with the plant in future.
I was able to take pics of 5 weeds I was aware of their names, from my backyard. Each time, app accurately identified with possible alternatives. Excellent app /tool for trail walking and around home!
If I remember correctly this is an updated version of an app called garden, which was a great app. This one stinks. Rarely gets it right.
wide coverage of plants is very useful. only down side is when using the "ask an expert" feature there's never any replies. poor service.
Couldn't ID one of the more common house plant from a photo; when I looked up prayer plant, there is a photo that is exactly like the one I submitted. Deleted after one use
This is a wonderful source if you are a plant rescuer lol
Takes your email and personal details before telling you you have to pay... Very snide.
Superb, I have been looking for weeks for a weird plant in my garden. Two seconds with this app and bosh, there it is.
Great app. I am a beginner who just got a bunch of plants from a friend and this has been a huge help to learn what I have and how to take care of them.
I've only tried one at the moment but it was bang on . I'll soon try it again and hope t see good result . Proper job !!
I sent some pictures of a tree and a description of it. I have waited two weeks, it said I will hear back in one or two days. I figured it out by myself. This app only has extremely common plants. It is not worth the space on my phone.
Pictures people upload are blurry, couldn't identify my plant. Uninstalled
It can't even identify a poinsettia. I also took a picture of a delphnium and it came up with everything but.
Small database. Very inaccurate visual matching. More frustrating than useful.
What could be easier, but taking a picture of a mysterious plant/tree, and BOOM! A list of possibilities are presented to you within 10 seconds? Amazing.
Found out what my flowing plant was using the leaves alone as it hasn't flowered yet
Quick match nice app I will recommend to all my friends and family
