Read Chinese, Learn Chinese! for Android
Interesting articles with different subjects and difficulty ratings. But like some people pointed out, you need to already have a basic Mandarin Chinese proficiency, because there are no grammar points explanations, just vocab.
Used to work properly until a 2 or 3 weeks ago. The vocab review list is now flickering - jumping back to hidden mode when clicked for solution. Hope they find the problem soon
I've had this app for about 3 months. At first it was so great because it was all free! But now the cost has made it feel unattractive.
For a free apps this is marvelous. Not only I learn new vocabularies, idioms and lessons are taken from real time events, I can learn to speak by listening to the pronunciation, by clicking any word in the text. I salute the developers of this App and the dedicated instructors of Decipher. I highly recommend it.

Love the App for myself!! I'm currently practising my reading speed. Finished HSK 5 Characters in Memrise and I think this is a tool I was missing to bring my Chinese to the next level. However is not so simple for beginners...but must be efficient for those who have real goals and wanna be quick..
I'm extremely happy I've stumbled upon this app. It really helps me with keeping my Chinese in shape. So far one new article per day has been enough for me.
Not for beginners and bombards you with buy this, sign in here crap... No thanks
Once I thought $5 a month is too expensive since I currently live in S.E. Asia. But then I thought it over again, seems that it is just too cheap compared with conventional courses but also gives a better result.
Reading articles in Mandarin was never easier, after coming back from China I can keep practicing my Mandarin everyday. Good articlrs, great interface.
This app provides an excellent way for me to improve my Mandarin comprehension by assisting me to read contemporary news and articles where unrecognized characters I can choose to save them for review in future.
Now that you need to pay in order to actually learn in this app it is totally useless. It's a shame because before hand it was a great app...
Charging for articles that were previously free doesn't seem a great idea to me. I was practicing on some content which is now unavailable. I might uninstall
This, along with Pleco, is one of my favorite Chinese learning apps. It makes it so easy to study bite-sized bits of written Chinese in a real context whenever you happen to have a couple of minutes free, and simultaneously keep up to date with stuff going on in the Sinosphere! The tools for saving and reviewing unfamiliar words are so helpful, and it makes it really easy to export vocab lists to Pleco and Anki. Strongly recommend giving it a go. 謝謝大家!
After recent updates, actually, one before the last one, I cannot launch the app anymore. Getting white screen after load screen if shown. Would be really funny if I would pay before it happened. I am at Samsung Note 5.
Very good app, lots of fine features, but the variability of the standard of Chinese between different contributors let's it down a little. Some are very good, others not so
Only thing that could make this app better would be the addition of a Cantonese Jyutping option instead of only Mandarin. (But I understand that Cantonese is less commonly learned) This app has helped me learn more characters in a much more entertaining way than flashcards!:)
I was worried about losing my Chinese skills now that I'm stateside, but this app is great. The articles are cute and fun, and I really enjoy the interface. Nice work!
I have just started to learn Chinese and find this app very useful. Let's see what happens when I move further on in language.
good for reviewing newly learned words, for learning new vocabulary, for understanding the meaning of difficult words, for practicing pronunciation, and so on. this is one of the best and effective app here in google play.... and yeah, im satisfied with the free articles, but if there's a chance for us to have more free articles... that'd be great. 1 free article a day is great enough. lol
Incredibly good app but the pricing is unattractive. I would make a one time payment but the subscription is pretty expensive
The very well thought out interface and interactive articles are exactly what learning chinese can look like in modern ages of mobile devices. On the go reading of short news with ability to tap to see pronunciation and translation of hanzi you don't know. The app is very reliable and well built. For occasional reading there are daily free articles.
Great app to Practice!!!! I wouldn't mind to pay 1-2$/month for full access and more articles. 5$ is definitely too much for my use
I've been studying Chinese for over a decade and I've never seen an app quite like this one. I love that vocab can be exported to Pleco, Skritter and Anki as I already use all three apps. I think the monthly subscription price is very reasonable since this is a unique product that is constantly adding new content. I'd also like to thank the developers for creating such a useful tool.
I barely used the app and it drained a quarter of my battery in the background. Please fix.
I love it, but the performance of this app is ridiculous. It's too slow
I've been studying Chinese for years and this app makes it easy to still improve. The articles are decided by level, they're short and fun. I only wish they had more free articles at the upper levels
Very useful! Though I wish there was a way to slow speech like the app du chinese.
Exactly what I was looking for. Great refresher for anyone who knows some Mandarin and wants to improve. The pronunciation is accurate, articles are bite sized and very interesting, and I like that in the free version there is a lottery system for which articles become readable each day! Great work.
It's a great app. I learn pricing might be expensive but using it once everyday day for new article is like waiting for 1900s news. It's small but worth the wait. I might consider the membership later when I have more time. :)
I never would have lost my level in Chinese if I had this app years ago. A+++
I found the app to be quite useful and I was expecting it to become paid or add some paid features eventually. The monthly subscription plan that was introdoced and the extreme limitations of the free version are very disappointing. JA Sensei, for example, is one of the best learning apps on the market and required a one time payment while providing lifelong updates. In comparison your app is offering way less at an incomparably higher price.
I used this app for months with a paid subscription. A few days ago it no longer recognized me as a paid subscriber. I sent a report in the app explaining the problem and asking for help. Today it says my account no longer exists. Very disappointing as I used this app every day. This is the first time I have ever felt the need to write a review for an app. EDIT: I tried decipher again today. Still unable to log in. Uninstalled. I wish I hadn't wasted money on it.
for some reason it blocks of the window and wont let me get to the artical. the window that blocks of the artical asks me "do you want to read more we write 365.... " but no I want to read the artical I chose. I have only just got the app, but perhaps this brag screen can stop telling me of this and stopping my learning. other than that major problem the concept is great. please I want to read more but I wish that window would stop.
This is by far one of the most helpful apps I've ever came across in my journey of learning Chinese. It shows you the characters as well as the Pin Yin and the meanings to them; all while reading it to you so you learn the pronunciation of the words at the same time. It's brilliant!
I know that you guys need to get paid for what you've done so far, but imo you have to review your business plan. Never EVER update an app and ask money for features that were previously free. I'm sorry but users feel betrayed. You can add ads, you can add new premium features requesting the user to pay for them but this is just bad.
I previously found it difficult to find the time to read and check for word meaning at the same time. But then, I came across this Decipher and I do feel that learning reading Chinese has never been more effective. I'd highly endorse this to anyone learning Chinese. Keep updating!
I am baffled that is free. Being able to choose articles by difficulty is a plus. Every word can be selected for pronunciation and meaning, even more plus. There is also audio included for pronunciation, I am sold! That is just the tip of the ice berg. Lovely app
I actually LOVE this app. I'm currently reviewing for HSK3 in December and in about one week it already helped me improve my reading enormously. I'd be delighted to throw all my money at them for more articles and more vocab - I actually don't have a problem paying the authors for their content, on the contrary, I'd love to. Except I can't. I keep getting an error message when I try to subscribe. I've been trying to get in touch with Decipher for about a week now and I've had no reply. I've tried several channels: their "Contact us" form, email, even a desperate facebook message. No reply. I've subscribed to other apps and even got in touch with Google who confirmed that the problem is not my end. If and when they get back to me and I can finally get more content I'd be happy to change this review accordingly. But my guess is that I'll just end up subscribing to another, very similar app instead (although I prefer this one)...

I have not much time to practice my poor Chinese, but thanks to Decipher I can train my reading, vocabulary and listening anywhere I want and in any short moment I have during my busy days! Excellent idea!!!
