This is an application I built to solve the Sleep Of Death (also known as Screen of Death) issue.
The Sleep of Death (SOD) causes Android not to wake up when you try to unlock your device. The root cause of the issue (I think anyway) sits within the Kernel however it needs to be fixed by the Device maker.
What this app does is prevent your phone to sleep properly which therefore means that when you come to unlock your device you will be able to unlock it as the phone is actually not sleeping.
As this app is keeping your device awake, it will obviously take up more battery, which is a compromised to have a phone able to wake up, receive notification and more importantly able to wake you up in the morning through the Alarm application.
This has only been tested on the Nexus 4, but theoretically should work on any devices

I was getting the dreaded SOD every day. This behavior only started in the last few weeks and gradually got worse. I've only had SOD KILLER installed for one week and so far no SOD, although it did have a very high battery use on one particular day. I will give a further update next month. So looking good at the moment.

It not won't work in foreground, i have switch this app with no restrictions in my battery use setting, but it somehow always closing, when i check the running app, theres no SOD app running. So my phone still getting SOD issues. Im ussing xiaomi redmi 2 btw.

I found this after many frustrating years of lockups on my Nexus 4 phone. This completely fixed it without any side effects. I can't even notice any change in battery life. Brilliant!

I was getting sod many times a day now it's 24 hours now since my last sod on my note 2 n7100... So far so good! 48 hours now since my last sod... What a brilliant app! This app works really well and I haven't noticed even the slightest affect on the battery life of my device. Thank you so much!! UPDATE: I have to add that while using this app, I've noticed significant performance increases in my device. It simply runs faster. I think it's because this app stops the phone from sleeping which allows it to continue to process background tasks until they go to idle while the screen is off rather than pausing the tasks until the next screen on time.

Thank you so much! I was so sick of getting the SOD multiple times per day on my Nexus 4. I was getting so frustrated and my phone was so unreliable that I was about to chuck it into the trash. This app took care of all that. Regardless, Google still needs to fix this issue, because I am reluctant to buy any future Google phone since they've shown themselves to be unresponsive to customers' pain.
