TonePrint for Android
The app functions as advertised: you can download a tone print to your pedal through your guitar pickup. It's very clever. However, the UI performance is the worst I've seen in any Android app. Scrolling through the list of tone print choices is so painfully slow that the app is not pleasant to use.
Useful app but iPhone port with terrible UX. Please PLEASE at least make the device back button work! Also, make it so that when we go back from a Toneprint page to a list, it doesn't go to the top of the list forcing us to scroll down to where we were every time. And the way you split guitar and bass is pointless. You should let us pick a pedal and THEN split guitar/bass, or pick guitar/bass and then pick a pedal. Needs a major overhaul.
For what it is the app works really well. The only problem I have with it is the worse than dialup Internet handshake sound that comes out every time you change an effect. If we could do this any other way I'd prefer that.
The app works, not as well as the windows app, but it works. Both apps take way too long to populate the screens. At least have favorites load first, so that we only have to wait through 2 loading pages more than a few times.
Seriously? I can't use the standard Android back button like I can with every other app I ever use? Other complaint is that it is difficult to have any clue of what a toneprint might actually sound like without loading it to the pedal first. Also, editing toneprints from within the app would be extremely helpful.
Tone print is such a great concept! The app itself is horrendous. Very slow scrolling, no animations when browsing etc. It is so frustrating to flow through this app. Please fix
Extra functionality for already great pedals, you say? Awesome idea, however scrolling through the various prints is almost unbearably slow and when you hit back, it takes you to the top of the list rather than the point you were at - not great when trying to find the perfect reverb for example. Needs work, but the ultimate aim should be that users are able to edit tone prints directly without needing the PC software. Once TC do that, they'll have really cracked it. Great pedals, somewhat poor app.
Downright horrid. iOS version is leagues better. The android version, targeted here, is begging for an update, a refined UI and more importantly - accessibility. Kindly provide an update that provides a better experience of the app on android. - Dedicated toneprint pedal user.
A couple of things... 1. Brilliant idea and innovation but this app is so sluggish and haphazard. Barely scrolls and information and story behind TonePrint is barely readable and cut off. 2. Are there no default (out of the box/user) TonePrints for all supported pedals? Vortex Mini off the bat, is noticeably missing.
Unfortunately, I must knock down a few stars from my review. Although some issues have been fixed with the latest update, the app's smoothnes and ease of use still leave a lot to be desired. True, the loading time is quicker, but if there's no internet connection, the app just stays at "Checking for new stuff online" until the connection times out, which is quite frustrating. Also, the back button on the phone does nothing, and the options button doesn't work at all. Moreover, scrolling is still quite laggy. One of the major issues, though, is that there is no more countdown after selecting the beam option, which is very counter-intuitive. At first this may not seem like that big of a deal, but one can't help to feel a bit silly when racing against the app trying to beam an effect to the amp/pedal. I'm sorry for having to say this, but the original app was miles better than this updated one.
I love TV's pedals but this app functions poorly and slowly. Effect descriptions are not very useful. It would be great if a sample of the effect was available.
Toneprint is amazing, as all things TC, but this app needs major improvement. I feel like this is an iPhone port... App is very slow and sluggish.
Would appreciate Material Design implementation. Could use a ton of optimization. Srolling is beyond laggy.
The tech behind it is amazing and works really well but my God the user experience is awful. Please hire a designer to improve this. There's so much room for improvement, this could be easily a 5 start app.
App ran 20 minutes "downloading artist images" totally nonresponsive. Watched battery go down 10‰ doing this.
Don't know why the actual back button built in to my phone doesn't work with the app. A bit slow to koad sometimes.
great idea.but it doesnt work.more than half of the tone prints for the bass amps are not working when bimming them.very time wasting and dissapointing.
Scroll speed is so slow it makes using the app a pain to work with. The Android back button doesn't work? I smell a lazy iOS port
App is horribly slow and laggy. Practically rendering it useless. Update: half a year later, 0 feedback/improvement
Poor user interface. Frustrating how you are back at the top of the list everytime you exit after viewing a toneprint and having to scroll through all the way from the top.
Easy to use, great library. Could use more videos or sounds captures for tone prints but this is a minor gripe. Good work TC
Navigation (especially scrolling) is slow and the Android back button is ignored.
Have not gotten it to successfully work. At least the pedal is solid
It sounds like a great idea but it's by far the worst app I've ever seen
TC failed to address performance issues and the app still goes through a raft of non urgent tasks before the user can actually beam anything. Two stars (down from one after a disappointing upgrade) in the hope that they'll fix it in the next release.
Sort out the laggy performance, let us save custom presets and it will great.
Has some of the coolest sounds ever, but this is a horrible app. I'm forced to use it, however.
I've used it in the past. It has its shortcomings but did what I needed it to do despite that fact. Now... I have a Google pixel phone and the app does not work on the pixel. I've reached out to TC but have not yet heard back. So, for now two stars. If they address some issues and I can begin using the app again on my pixel then I'll change the rating.
Buggy touch interactions within the app, can't get the beaming to work for my bass amp, and overheat-battery drain issue while idle
Great idea and awesome innovative pedals. You can load settings which is great. You can't save or upload personal patches which sucks. However, the start up is slow due to loading updates, a switch to turn this off or bypass every time you start the app would be nice. Slow scrolling or navigation on the app. Lastly, lack of fine tweaking by connecting device via USB to pedal like apple products is missing, this would make this app awesome.
Still can't believe after all the negative feedback about the scrolling issues of the app, that this hasnt been addressed yet. This app used to be great but is now limiting the use of my TC Electronic pedals. Toneprint was a selling point that set the pedals aside from competitors. Unfortunately this app makes the toneprint feature less appealing and would negatively influence future purchases of TC Electronic with that feature. Come on TC, make this app great again!
It works fine but the navigation & display need work. Select by product OK brings up a list scroll down select one go back and your at the start. Also it doesn't look good on a tablet c'mon guys I use my tablet instead of a pc!!!!!
You guys this is a great tool but my goodness this should not have made it out of QA. The user experience is one of the slowest and most frustrating I have ever used. Scrolling down in a table view with a simple image and label as rows should not be as excruciatingly slow as it is. Please do some basic memory and performance testing before the next iteration. This is just awful to use, but it's awesome how quick it CAN be a useful tool.
TonePrint technology itself is VERY cool. But this app smells like it was ported from the iOS version by an automated tool. It is super slow and frustrating to use due to a significant lag in responding to gestures. It would also be nice to have the ability to store custom created TonePrints on my phone and beam to my pedal instead of using the USB cable. Overall, the app does what it is supposed to but needs a rewrite for Android.
As others have mentioned, app loads slowly and scrolling is choppy. Most frustrating part is the lack of proper android design (device buttons do not function) and when going from a tone print description back to the list, you are put at the top of the list instead of back to the position you came from. The concept is great, but the execution fell short here.
Laggy scrolling, poor performance, no toneprint editor, no way to quickly display only the pedals you own, no way to close the app or go back using device buttons... But worst of all the app won't even start if you don't have internet access. This app is OK in that it works to get toneprints onto the pedals, but it's pretty useless beyond that. I guess it's just supposed to be a toy, not a reliable or useful tool. Quite disappointing from TC.
Wow. Lost all my favorites upon updating, huh? Pretty cool. Can't scroll easily? Perfect! Can't use device's buttons? Awesome!......... This is SUCH a remarkably poor port from the iPhone version, and it's abundantly clear. T.C. really needs to understand who their market is, because software like this is more of a liability than a feature....... Now I'm off to spend an hour finding all my old presets and setting everything up. Thanks T.C.!
Great idea and pedals. You can load settings which is great. However, the start up is slow due to loading updates, a switch to turn this off would be nice. Slow scrolling. Lastly, lack of fine tweaking by connecting device to pedal like apple products is missing, this would make this app awesome.
Locks up S6. When it's not locked up it won't beam. This app SUCKS, the features pointless and I just got the pedal today, ... Well it goes back tomorrow. Boss, here I come!

The product is good but the supported software (tone print) is absolutely horrible. The menus and listings are lazy and uncategorized. The jagged animations and laggy interface just puts me off from ever wanting to use this app
