As hunger continues to be a serious global challenge. Globally, we lose Rs. 7 Lakh Crores in the form of waste food engagement annually & Indian official figures are Rs.58000 crores per annum. On the other side, nearly half of the Indian population sleeps without food every day. In every second, two children die between age group of 1&5 due to malnourishment and scarcity of sufficient food. Farmers committing suicides, is another crucial issue. Last year, 3328 farmers committed suicide. It is really paradoxical situation. Government authorities and many charitable organizations are, still, battling to resolve this epidemic.

There are various causes for the food wastage in India. Some of them are, irregular monsoon due to global warming, droughts, excess production of crops, lack of proper storage in grain godowns, lack of cold storages, improper logistic chain management, defective packaging. This list will go on but on the top of above reasons, excess preparation of food during Weddings, parties, religious ceremonies, restaurants, roadside eateries, canteens, corporate events, is also the major reason of the food wastage. Consequently, this edible food is directly throws away in drainage. Just imagine, how much human efforts, electricity, fuel, natural resources, money, technology is being spent, from sowing seeds in the field to delivering delicious cuisines serve in front of you.
